I have a plan (1 Viewer)

Hopefully it is a cunning one.

We seem to have a few different factions and differing views on which way to go with the Sky Blues' plight.

We have the NOPM. Those who will not go at all, be it Northampton or the Ricoh while Sisu are in charge. We have the NOPM while we play away from the city. We have those who don't want us to go to Northampton but who cannot bear the thought of not seeing their club, so they will go and then a few who just say they will go whatever and if it's to be Northampton then so be it.

Basically though, the vast majority of those groups above are opposed to us moving away, period. It seems to be a tiny minority who don't seem bothered in the slightest about playing outside of Coventry, believing the long term future will be secured.

Okay, so here's the plan!

Vast majority opposed to the move. We therefore (everyone) target say a couple of games where no-one attends. No-one at all. This then caters for those who will go, as you are only asking them to sacrifice a couple of games. Then can still attend all the other games and caters for the NOPM groups too.

This also then wouldn't be a complete turning of backs against the club, it will merely be a statement and a plea to come back to Coventry.

Everyone more or less would be happy (apart from those who don't give two hoots we're moving). The general feeling seems to be that just about everyone doesn't want us to move and would like us to stay in Coventry.

You therefore here have a statement that we love the club and want to support it, but that the club needs to return to its home.

These games would be identified as No Go Games. A NGG campaign. Identify a couple of games. Further games could then be identified dependent on the success of this and if people are willing.

I think this would unify supporters. Those who will not go and those who will but who are doing so cos they feel they have no other choice.

Two games where no-one attends. You would therefore just get a tiny handful in the ground for these two occasions.

I would urge those who are saying they are going to sacrifice two games of the season to make a statement. The thought of this occurring again for the club would be very worrying and it would receive great press and would show the power us fans (the customers) actually have.

TF knows that the lure of the club and the affinity we have with CCFC is to his advantage and he feels we simply cannot bear to be away for long and this is the ace he feels he has up his sleeve.

Two games where no-one goes. I think this would really make the owners sit up and take notice. We the fans have the power. We need to show we have the power. What we don't have at the moment is unity.

I think this could unite all of us and the ask of those who are going is for just a small sacrifice.

Interesting Otis. The knock on could be big. Could be the lowest crowd attendance in the Football League for decades. Bound to arouse media interest. Bound to send another big message to the useless FL.
Asking those few who want to go to Northampton to not go for maybe ONE game is not that big an ask is it?
As I've said before (broken record and all that) it hurts me not to go and everyone else. if the 'Must Go' sector think about the bigger picture it could bring a complete turnaround and we can all rejoice together back in Coventry.
Really over to those few who want to go. The choice is yours. Selfish or see the bigger picture.

As I say it can be more of a plea than a protest.

They need to see that just about everyone is opposed to moving to Northampton for 3-5 years.

Really good idea. Im one of the few struggling to even imagine not following the City even if it means Northampton.
I can nt honestly say I wo nt go to most of the "home games" and I will travel to the away games. But to write off two
games. yes i fully agree.
Lets hope it does nt come to it and we re back at the Ricoh.

Think the problem with this situation is that most people on here will say one thing but do another.... Only a few will seriously follow through with what they say.

People have said "lets go to the Ricoh on match day and protest" ........ in theory that's a great, but how many will actually follow through.

I have said I will go to Northampton to watch the games..... but then again I am a Lazy Lazy Man. I will probably go to a couple out of curiosity.. GUARANTEE I wont last the season!!

if you really want to apply the pressure and get widespread media attention occupy the football league offices, chain yourselves up to their walls, fences etc. camp their and refuse to leave, ask other fans from other clubs to join you in your peaceful protest and state your protest is not solely about CCFC but also the state of english football and rip off prices, the wages and player prices, etc etc you start that up and sky sports news will be there 24/7. to be clear i am not inciting and i do not condone violence or any kind of non peaceful protest.

that kind of protest would bring fans from far and wide.

The plan is based on the assumption that sisu would buckle if they lose out on a few thousand tickets.
I don't think would even blink.

Don't underestimate their resolve - they have not (yet anyway) bluffed as assumed by many.

I believe they will follow through their plan - it's the only way they can recoup their money.
That plan will cost them many, many millions - I don't think a potential loss of £1m or even £2m on tickets over the next couple of years will make any difference to them.

It's not the fastest way to get rid of them.

Reluctantly must agree with Godiva on this one. SISU's unpopularity can't get any greater and Fisher is extremely aware that crowds will be pathetic. Equally SISU seem very happy to continue losing vast swathes of money if ultimately ACL are busted-yes this will have more of an impact on the League however they will continue to peddle their 'We did all we could' line until the cows come home.

We are also in the awkward position of wanting the team to fail so people are less inclined to go.

Don't be afraid to agree with me - it does happen for others one or two times. But I agree it does put a stain on your reputation. :)

Anyway - I think they will try as hard as possible to win back the fans by fielding a surprisingly strong team. They are desperat to get out of embargo as they have lined up a few very good players. If what I have heard is even remotely true, it looks like they are actually serious about competing in the league. Should that happen much of the protest will wear thin - like last season - and fans will come back (when I say 'back' I mean 'go to Sixfields').

i just think this plan brings a bit of unity. Too many factions at the moment.

The media coverage would be there for sure if no-one turned up. It would also cost the club money and if they believed this could happen again and again then they would have to sit up and take notice.

Alternatively just wait for Fisher's lies as they unite fans better than anyone.
Seriously though it needs organising.
Boycotting the first few games is critical in terms of media support.
Concerted action against the FL is also warranted.

Who they bring in is of course dictated by how much money is coming in and even decent crowds at Northampton will make it a challenge for us to seriously compete. They need us to do well to justify the insanity however if we somehow succeed then we are capping the money we can make by playing in a tiny ground.

The whole thing is self defeating.

I started another thread about playing a charity match for the first home game with a Cov legends team. Possibly against a Bristol legends team, we could even offer away fans free tickets and try to tempt them away from Sixfields. An almost empty stadium for the first game would have real media attention.

I think you are referring to FFP.

Yesterday I suggested they would convert some debts to equity - as equity increase counts as turnover in the FFP calculation.

ACL will not go bust - if they are feeling the heat they will make an agreeable sale of their asset. For sure, even if SISU were one of the interested parties, they would not sell to them. They would be able to tip off their preferred buyer to ensure they top any SISU bid.

Have been saying this for ages, if EVERYBODY boycotts just one game to go to a Nuneaton game for example it would send a message!

The trust should pick up on it, but it is probably too big for them!

They could sign Messi and Ronaldo for all I care, I won't follow the team in Northampton. Some of us do have principles, you know? But I suppose you're just towing the official Timmy "you'll all come crawling back" line.

What if we sign a couple of Bosman's, including an Argie? Is that enough for you to fold? Godiva and Fisher think it is.

Interviewer: 'What about Gary Hoffman's offer to cover the rent?'

TF: 'The offer isn't real!'

No chance . I mean how many people on here have seen great players like Messi and Ronaldo play in the flesh and not just on the tele.;)

I saw Warne's "ball of the century" to Gatting live, that's probably the cricketing equivalent!

C'mon, who in their right mind is going to sign for us at this precise moment in time? I'll tell you who, the dead and the desperate. You'd be lucky to get two or three Sphinx D players on board and even they would think twice about it.

Aye but Godiva's saying SISU are going to spend big and we're going to be flying at the top of the table-that will bring the fans flooding to Sixfields!
