Ernie Hannigan, I thought he was great.

My Dad thought he was the worst player to ever wear a City Shirt!

We all dream of a team of Gary Breen?

We received his game worn from 98-99 to put up for auction earlier. Signed by the whole squad. Should start in the next week or so.

Eric McManus (goalkeeper) - who remembers the classic blunder of backpass going straight through his legs and into the goal

And then there was Wilf Smith - what a cart horse

IMHO of course :D

Yea Eric was a dreadful goalie, he played in the Bayern Munich away game after Bill Glazier got injured, and he let in 6, killing the tie. Bill Glazier was back for the home second leg and we beat them 2-1

Disappeared and never seen again until Wigan turned up in the Premier League around a decade later.

Did all of McAllister's running for him in The Entertainers side; Macca had been shite throughout his time with us until we brought Carlton in, and from that moment onwards was top class. I can see why he's mentioned in this thread, but your comment betrays a lack of understanding of the game!

Agree with this. He wasn't a great player but my goodness did he do his job well for us.

Ysrael Zuniga!!! Anyone remember that 10-15 minutes he played against Bradford in the 1999-2000 season (won 4-0 I think) and he was amazing, then decided to never really play like that again (or really get a chance to be fair).

Another one of those frankly baffling signings that plagued us around the turn of the century (Ivan Guerrero and Jairo Martinez also spring to mind.)

Trevor Benjamin was laughably shit, something like 1 goal in his 20 games for us and that was a handball.

Actually most of Micky Adams signings were awful.

I'll probably get slaughtered for this, but Lloyd McGrath wasn't really that good, was he? Still a terrace favourite though.

Well Lloyd wasn't the most skilful play ever, but I can't think of many players that could have done a better marking job on Hoddle in the '87 final.

Didn't Zuniga come with a bit of a reputation too? I'm sure he was South American golden boot or something to that effect.

Shite considering the talent he had and not reguarly fulfilling it.

But he was never shite, maybe not always playing at the level we know he could but he was quite often pretty good. Think were going round in circles here.

Steve Hunt was shit when he first came here playing wide, he then moved to a more central role and became a great player for us
