The Hill This Sunday - Gillingham (11 Viewers)

Hi all.

Was on the Hill yesterday and had a great time.
I didn't expect much if I am truthful, I thought the view would be poor, I also expected very little SBA there.

Surprisingly me and my group had a wonderful time. Everyone got on incredibly well and for the first time since all this mess occurred, I felt that everyone could get on and share their own opinions without being looked down upon.
Walking away from the ground each of us said the same thing 'Back again next week!?'.
I've heard various reports say that there was only 60 on the hill... I can assure you that many counted roughly 100-150 as certain people stood at the other end of the hill during the game.
The atmosphere was great, banners, flags, etc looked superb on the hill. The drum insured the noise continued throughout large periods of the game.
During the game Carl Baker applauded us before each of his corners, as did many of the players before kick-off.

Now, on to next week.
After speaking to KCIC, it seems that next week a similar event is planned. The bus will be running as it did yesterday. This time we'd like to reach at least 200-300. With that number I am sure the noise levels will be higher and the number of banners and flags will be far greater.
To add to this, I'd like to see Horns, Drums, Vuvuzalars and anything that can make a noise as the players walk onto the pitch.
I honestly recommend anyone who is unsure about the view etc to come and give it a-go on the Hill as you'll be surprised!
Having the option to run to the pub for and bottle of beer, or the McDonalds for a burger at half time was brill!

I know there is a small minority who still think 'The Hill' or 'Jimmys Hill' is a poor idea, which is fair enough. Many may also think we are negative to those who decide that they will watch from inside, which I can assure you is not the case (bar one numpty who booed as one or two left sixfields early, who was told to shut it straight away).

Hopefully I shall see a good number more of you on Sunday!

Can i just say that while I'm not convinced the hill is the way forward for protest, your post deserves a like as it has some fine sentiments within it generally so... fair play, and hope you get out of next week what you want to again.

It's the first step towards a united front.

I have to say, if how you describe it is what happens, you'll convert me to the benefits of doing it... if for nothing else to show that fans can have different views about how to move forward to show their unhappiness, yet still remain united.

Forget anything else, that's a good thing.

Are people still going to bycotte it and hand considerable advantage to the opposition? Yes definitely. It felt like being part of a family up there, which I haven't felt part of supporting City since the start of the rent row.
Its understanable that many have different views, but for instance, yesterday I spoke to one who decided not to go into the ground and try the hill out, he said he mentioned this to many and everyone understood that he went to the previous fixtures.
For me thats what its all about being on the hill, being able to respect each argument and viewpoint, but being able to support the team and have a bit of a laugh!

This was spoken about yesterday between many of us. Wolves will buy tickets in the home end no matter what, just as they are doing for their trip to Shrewsbury. It will be hard to stop them. But hopefully the club will step in and try their hardest to cut this out.

I know this, but at the same time I can watch nearly all the game, whilst not giving a penny to Sisu. For me that is all I want to do.

It probably doesn't.

If he's right however, and fans choosing to go to Sixfields and fans choosing not to go to Sixfields can co-exist without some of the nonsense spouted on here at times, then it helps keep fans together for when we can all come together... because believe me we'll all be needed then.

So it might not change SISU's view, I'm really not convinced it's the best way forward to protest against the Northampton move myself, but if that's something that comes out of it, even if it has no affect on our owners or our situation, that's something that makes it worthwhile supporting.

My first visit to the hill v Colchester, as I am older and not so mobile i found it very pleasant, not a high hill to climb,more of a bank.as mentioned in earlier post, good for a pint before and after.On the support,well done,they enjoyed the game and no abuse. The fans inside the ground gave the team a good support,they sounded quite loud. the fans on the hill were loud and it really does look as the coming together in Coventry,both sets of fans will give the team a good lift.
Well done to the insiders and the outsiders,thy both know there is only one Coventry City. (see you at the Ricoh)

The only time our team has played in front of a massive home crowd, outnumbering the opposition by 28000 to 2000 or thereabouts, was last year against Crewe, and if I'm not mistaken, that didn't really make a difference and inspire them to a victory......

I'm sure the players area aware of the support for them outside the ground, and also know why fans are not going to Northampton, in or out of the ground.
What we all want is for CCFC supporters to be inside a ground in Coventry (or is that wrong?)

If there's general condemnation on the hill of people having a pop at fellow fans choosing to go into the ground then that's great.

One point on banners. They're great, they end up photographed in newspapers and are a good way for a group of people to get a message into the media. There was one yesterday saying 'FA and League - take note!' - good. There was another saying 'ACL - SISU - FL. Talk to each other.' - great.

With these two points in mind, could you tell the bloke with the 'if you are a true sky blue do not enter' banner to sling his hook? Photos of that have appeared in the media, making the story one of in-fighting in the fan base rather than the ludicrous situation that's causing the divisions.

I have to say I admire you all for standing on the hill. I just wonder whether in a months time when it starts to get wet and dark and windy you'll still be up there. The wind can be bitter up there.

I don't think the hill is the right medium either, I think it is best not to go to Northampton at all and offer some occasional support for local teams like Nuneaton & Leamington for the time being.
