More Misery for sisu: Result of poll of over 500 CCFC fans (11 Viewers)

Also, what about the fans who have said they have given up on CCFC now and would never go back? They are the ones who are the disgrace, not the ones on the hill or in the ground.

How are those fans a disgrace? What did they do to cause the club to be playing in the 3rd division in Northampton?

How can someone be considered a disgrace for saying "If playing home games 35 miles away is my reward for following the club through 10 years of decline, then I have had enough - there are many more things I could do with my leisure time".

Ask why would they be members of the Trust and respond to a survey if they have given up entirely? Have they maybe answered in a way to force an outcome of the survey?
Btw - what happened to the 'sky blue till I die'? Did it change to 'sky blue till I die, but not while sisu are owners'?

I am not saying they did anything to cause it, BUT to just blatently give up and say you don't support them any more is a bit strong. I can understand the people saying they wont go until they are back in CCFC and even to an extent the ones who say they wont come until SISU go, but to say you don't care any more and would never support them again and don't care is a bit strong?

if you look at the current "home" gates thats about 25%

Yes, let's misread the survey to the extreme.
How many who responded are attending the games at sixfields? 25%?

It is utter (and understandable) frustration. A lot of people look at the current state of the club and the lack of ambition and attitude of the owners and don't see a future that involves anything positive happening very soon. It is quite understandable for someone whose life doesn't revolve around football or CCFC, to say "that's it".

It is no disgrace to expect some reward for loyalty.

But only 5% of last season?

We averaged 10,800 last season including away fans, so approx 10k home fans.

1700 ccfc fans at Sixfields last week = 17% of last seasons home crowd.

It's all bluster. Majority of those will come back if we were back in Coventry. You can't just switch it off like that.

I was responding to Skybluetony 176 who stated this poll represented 25% of current fans at Sixfields.

Who were the people asked?

Out of those who say they are finished with the club, CCFC no longer exists, they will only go if we return to the Ricoh and SISU leave

I'd bet 99% hadn't attended the Ricoh in years and this is just there latest excuse not to go after 'not goin until King leaves' 'not going until Boothroyd/Coleman/Thorn is sacked' etc

Or there is a sniff of Wembley or Chelsea are in town?

Problem with these polls is it depends who you ask. There are 8 of us who all had season tickets and went to virtually every away game, 4 of us had away season tickets.
all 8 of us are still doing all the away games but none of us will ever go to sixfields, so if we were polled it would be 100% one sided.

Sure, more than welcome to make a poll. I think to get the best view it should be a poll on here, facebook, gmk, telegraph and the results merged to get the fairest result.

Sending a poll to kcic members and followers is going to show those sorts of results isn't it? It's like walking across the hill asking what people think and then saying that all city fans agree.

I agree not really a very scientific study and a wider more varied group of Coventrians would need to be asked. That reminds me, there was that sketch show many years ago where they were spoofing the general election coverage and they took the first exit poll to show that based on these results they were seeing an almost 100% swing to the left and the other parties wouldn't get a look in.

Why are we comparing against last seasons average? Current crowds are about 90% down on sisu taking over.

Are we saying to those 17-18k fans that you dont matter?

They have as much right to vote on this as those who attended last season, which would make these figures look a lot more accurate.

Of course they do, thats what we are saying, we would like a wider range on the poll to give a realistic view, maybe the 15,000 who voted in the CET to KCIC would be a good start.

With all these figures being chucked around: (i) will tomorrow be the first time in our history that the number of City fans at an away league game is greater than our home average attendance (including the away fans in the home average); (ii) one way of doing a more scientific poll would be to focus on people who attended games at home last season - the club must have a complete record of season ticker holders and then people who bought tickets for say 20 home games, 10-20, under 10 (I guess people who repeatedly paid cash on the day wouldn't be captured anywhere but there can't be that many of them). I'd be very happy to do all the work on it but the club don't seem to like me very much so if someone could persuade them to get involved that would be great!

Do we really need any more polls? The home attendance says it all and even if we sold out every week and reached the heady heights of 7K attendance it's still a disgrace for a City the size of Coventry. The team are playing the best they have for years and there are still only a handful of people attending Sixfields.
I truly believe if we were playing in Coventry currently we wuld be pushing 15K plus every home game as we have been wanting to see this kind of football being played for years............these suits need to get their heads together and put an end to this shit, the people of Coventry deserve better!!

To be fair, you are drawing muppet pictures ;) If you stood around abusing me all day I probably wouldn't like you :p

I doubt the club would release the info but the best way is to get the survey filled in by as many people as possible across all CCFC sites to get a broader view.

The thing at the end of it though, is what is the poll going to achieve? What can we do with the information?

Yeah sadly I doubt the results of a poll would end the current SISU campaign of NOPM against ACL.

Have just seen the telegraph article and it is VERY misleading - http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sp...-news/survey-majority-sky-blues-fans-6070444?

Poll conducted by Michael Orton, a researcher at the University Of Warwick, finds a third will continue to boycott games until there is a change of ownership

What has working at the uni got to do with anything?

It then goes on to say

He contacted 2,500 people on the KCIC mailing list and received a response which exceeded his greatest expectations.

It is literally just twisting things to read how they want to be read.

This is the kind of stuff that isn't needed, people moan about the spin of SISU and ACL and this is just as bad.

I agree, but then sensationalism sells papers more than just publishing raw data.

Well, saying 60% would go to the Ricoh regardless of whether SISU are still here or not doesn't sound quite as good for the hill folk, does it?

Personally I think the biggest stat that is currently being overlooked is the fact that 4 out of 5 fans didn't even respond....

.....and keep in mind that the 2500 that were sent the questionnaire must have very recently been involved, or at least interested enough in our plight to join the trust & not opt out of the kcic mails.....

so in summary, 80% of our most ardent fan base couldn't give a shit about this poll.....

I agree. It's like the Telegraph crowing over 15K signing their petition. Yet double that went to the Crewe game.

You must get really upset with the turnout at by-elections :)

Ouch is it not what you wanted to here as you said people could't even b e bothered to respond or even opt out of KCIK what does that tell you?

Not that they find it irrelevant like yourself thou some will, but that they are losing interest in CCFC the longer this goes on the more that will not case.

MichaelCCFC, did you really type - the Sisu Out campaign never got much support.????
Did you not hear the Sisu Out chants ringing out at the Ricoh during most of last season's matches? Are you deaf?
I'd say 99% want Sisu out. Even those misguided people who attend Sixfields.
Very wrong of you to make that comment. I'm surprised at you.

The best poll is the fact that 90% of CCFC fans don't turn up for 'home' games. People are voting with their feet.
Just stay away City fans. Going just prolongs this sad state of affairs.

i didn't misread anything. it was a tongue in cheek comment regarding the size of the "home" crowds at sixfields that i didn't expect to be taken seriously.

It's a bit like a IN and OUT question on Scottish Independence or IN/OUT of Europe? It all depends on the question, it's the wording of the question/s and therefore ambiguity exist by default. It's also defined by who gets to interpret the results. The only polls that ever have some accuracy are 'exit' polls.
