Of SISU now, another player gone (gunner) and no signs of anyone coming in anytime soon to replace any of our key players. They clearly don't give two shits about the club and therefore I ask the Hoff to please bail us out now before it's too late.

Gunner didn't want t sign for us.. nothing we could do..

And the squad are still in Portugal, so we can't do anything yet anyway!

Do you not keep up with things?

He's probably trying to. I hope so! If not, we'll just have to get on with it and back the players and manager to the hilt. Bit worrying that we're talking about using adversity and creating a tight-knit "siege mentality" in the camp before we've even kicked a ball. It is starting to feel like we're bottom with 1 point from the first 6 games already!

The tone of all AT's comments with regard to strengthening certainly seems downbeat. Somethings going on, either the takeover or a massive financial cut to what was promised-or both. I just hope we hear something soon otherwise I'll be despairing just as much as you!

Thanks Rich, I can sleep tonight knowing this :D

It is annoying that we dont seem to be moving in the transfer marker, however I trust that something (not sure what but there must be something) is going on in the background! The squad and management might be away on Holiday, but this doesnt mean the board arent working / reviewing AT's wishlist!

Maybe he took some time out to do some scouting in Portugal??

Im sure i read that he was looking at premiership loan players, in which case he would have to wait til they decide who is in their respective plans. Obviously most City fans on here are impatient and cannot accept this but thats the truth.

I know that SISU have cut the playing budget over the past couple of seasons following the sale of Dann and Fox, but are they really as bad as some people think? Firstly they dip into their pockets to keep the club afloat, they have funded signings when we've needed them, they're not being irresponsible in regards to the future of the club, the support is dwindling and many wouldn't come back unless Coventry were in the Prem again so we can forget about those.

Recently with the new chairman, he's listened to the fans, dropped ticket prices (for the last few games at least) appointed the manager that the fans wanted, the 3 out of contract players were basically gone before the end of May. Ranson was the man who almost got the club into administration, his business record is appalling and he appointed Aidy Hoofroyd last summer (who was slightly unlucky with injuries in my opinion). It's to think that the grass will be greener with a new board but I think it would be the same cycle, unless Hoffman is genuine about buying the Ricoh and has the funds, there would be a bit of optimism a few signings and slowly the club will slip into the same apathy that surrounds it today.

If we want to restore the club to its former glory, we need to get behind it and bring people to matches who would normally not go and raise the attendances to a 22-25,000 average then ticket prices will drop and the club will be able to fund signings. All the current people disillusioned with SISU seem to want is some wealthy benefactor to come in and do what Leicester are doing, sign overrated expensive players and risk the long term stability of the club.

We have some good youth players coming through, plus Deegan and Turner are coming back from injury, a few players coming in on loan or free transfer and a good start to the season then I think we are set for a mid-table finish, there's too much negativity when it doesn't need to be, there are some bad teams in the league this season (Barnsley, Peterborough (crap signings), maybe Portsmouth, Millwall, Crystal Palace, Doncaster, Watford) who have worse squads than us which is why I believe we can have our best season for a while, we just need to get behind the club

Have to disagree with the bit about Ranson. Just how did he almost get us into administration? It wasn't through buying expensive players that's for sure!

If SISU had stuck to their original gameplan of putting a young cheap side together with players like Fox, Dann and Westwood and buying the players Ranson had lined up like Henderson, Carroll and Cork then we'd have been up by now. SISU bottled it and started selling off anyone worth a few quid the first chance they got.

They only have themselves to blame for their investment not making them a handsome profit.

I couldn't agree more just don't know whether to be happy that sisu are up sh*t street or sad because they have taken us with them. Ranson cannot be blamed for nearly taking us into admin as he had to go to the board every time he tried to make a financial decision. He just made a good scape goat for sisu when the truth about the mess they got us into was about to come out, ie the accounts were due to companies house, and they even balls that up by supplying the accounts late causing an embargo to be placed on us.
So sisu go now sell before you have no one to sell to,otherwise we all know that you will take this club into oblivion.

The idea that SISU not splashing the cash is because they don't care is hilarious. Do people really think that if the same people were Cov fans they'd be throwing the millions that clearly don't exist at us? You can't conjure up money by wanting it really hard, as my entire National Lottery history proves.

In these three succinct sentences I feel Richh87 has hit the SISU nail on the head with a big sky blue hammer.

Ironic that 'SISU' translated into English means 'having the bottle to see things through'.

Ranson stated in fans forums that the investors who had funded our 'project' would remain nameless, but that they included some people EXTREMELY high up on the rich list; so it isn't that they don't have the money IF they wanted to put it in.

Rich people such as Steve Gibson or Dave Whelan throw money at their clubs just because they love them.

To say that these investors don't care may be a little harsh - but they don't care about their clubs like many other owners do. If they did they wouldn't constantly cash in on players.

For me the Connor Thomas deal was the biggest slap in the face yet. Thank god Liverpool changed their minds because we need a homegrown hero.

Steve Gibson and Dave Whelan willingly lose money because it's partly their hobby, and partly because they can afford to. I can't see how we could have some incredibly rich backers; particularly when the option to purchase half the ground and start to recoup appears to make sound financial sense and yet nothing's happened.

The problem is that they view us as a project - through the eyes of accountants/number crunchers. As you say - with other owners it's their hobby. If they don't see buying the Ricoh as a good idea then they're not going to do it, emotion won't come into it as it would with many other chairmen.

They've kept us afloat, which is nice... But we're no better off. They've given us the same old misery as before just with different owners (and some false hope).

It's like watching a relative die of a long-term illness supporting City over the last 10 years.

That's exactly it really, their decisions are made from a business and financial view, whereas we'd look at the same thing from a more footballing and/or emotional standpoint.

I just don't buy when people say it's because they don't care - the betterment of the club is as much in their interests as it is ours, just for different reasons.

Yeah, I guess it's just down to the definition of 'care'.

It'll all be fine when I win the euromillions on Tuesday and name the ground after me. Luckily all I have to do is remove the 'O' ;)

If I win it, I'm going to have them build a huge statue of me straddling the A444 en route the Ricoh. A bit like the Colossus of Rhodes except with a clock in the stomach. You don't want to know what the pendulum is.

That's a great idea! Yes, if I win i'm going to do that. Maybe just my face with the A444 using my mouth as a tunnel.

I'd definitely make the train station happen though and promote the club a lot better. You could walk around Coventry City centre and not even know Coventry has a football team. Warwickshire needs work too. The whole of Leicestershire support bloody Leicester - but Warwickshire seems to have no allegiance to Coventry. Is is simply because it's not called Coventryshire???!

Nah they all think they have a right to claim to be from "Birminghamshire". Bloody Blues, Wolves and Villa fans everywhere stinking the place out. In Leam I know 2 City fans, 5 Villa fans, 4 Blues, 3 Wolves, 2 Leicester, 2 Man U, 1 Liverpool, 1 Newcastle and 1 Arsenal. We're the nearest club and outnumbered 10-1. Although the Arse/Man U/Lpool guys never actually go to see their side, natch. That probably just about sums the clubs marketing problem up. "Good Luck, Mr Clouting!"

Get the potential train-staion element somehow involved, and it sounds like an Ealing classic :p

why do we say restore the club to it's previous glory? apart from one cup win I don't recall us having much glory, unless the definition of glory is narrowly avoiding relegation year after year...

I guess it means top-flight club. Which we were for a very long time.

"The Entertainers" season was pretty glorious (well, at home, anyway). Dion & Huck was fantastic fun (though not for Chelsea!). So was the Magical Micky Quinn Xmas under Bobby Goulds wonderfully idiosyncratic stewardship. Or, yes, the incredible and almost impossible relegation-defying end-of-season runs! Pick your fave-mines the one that saw us maul the newly crowned Everton in the '80's. The Glory of being the plucky underdogs, bloodying the noses of our richer rivals every so often.

Sure we were never gonna win the league back then, but each season was a lot better than every one since relegation!

Flirting with relegation and being a constant disappointment in the Premier League, I'd take that in a heartbeat.

There you go, my footballing ambition is for us to be Wigan.
