Lack of gratitude? (8 Viewers)

Is it me and am i the only one who has yet to see any of the 3 major departees express any real gratitude to the fans that supported them through thick and oh so much thin. Perhaps i missed it but I feel that some expression of thanks to the Sky Blue faithful would not have gone amiss...... do not remember Westwood or Gunner saying anything in the press to the fans and King only talked about himself but no real surprise there

Perhaps I am just having a bad day and grumpy :D

You have to feel for them, obviously they are now earning a lot more money and will forced to spend countless hours on what to spend it on...

All 3 of them have own specific reasons that they should say thanks for the fans.

Marlon especially!

Surely you can't mean our last three player of the seasosn as voted for by us the fans can you? Nobody would be that disrespectful as to not mention us ....

Fwiw, I'm sure they'll all be back in the future for 'legends' day and we'll all laud them in praise.

I think westy was thankfull, Marlon is a liar and gunnar came accross as a spoilt child.

A lot of players leave us and then turn on us....Huckerby, Hartson, Hughes, Bellendamy!!

what do we do to them?

Westwood made a point of thanking the fans after the Reading game last day of the season, was quite apparent it was his goodbye

Agreed on Hartson, Hughes and Bell*my but I don't recall Huck having a go. Any links for this please? I would find that very disappointing largely because he received great support from all areas of the ground and was yet equally frustrating to watch being off-side so often. Couldn't help but like the fella I always thought, perhaps you may change my view :(

i went to man city away in the cup and "the goat" scored last minute winner, huck was running along the cov fans behind the goal cupping his ear........that was another reason it kicked off big style. He has mentioned a few times cov in a derogatory way. i liked hinm too, that's why especially sad when they slate us.

Go off it certainly did!! Crazy day that was. Huckerby caused that in my opinion.

If the bloke with a dinosaur shaped head and can't handle his drink had anything about him then he could have said something and done the honourable thing. Instead He's going to get some fucking stick from me at Birmingham away.

Westwood - served well, a nice something would have gone down well, especially as the kids liked him and he was good with them.

Gunnar - doesn't understand.

Hucks has mentioned us on Twitter a bit, he seems to look for our results (even though he seems to be a Norwich fan). Has had a few choice words for those in charge though, which none of us would disagree with.

Yea he described us "A good club being ruined"
“What the Hell’s going on at Cov, not been the same since the club left Highfield Road. What next – administration?"
These quotes are from March this year.

King: We got his career back on track and he owes a lot to the Sky Blues but after the manner in which he left I did not expect a thank you especially with the animosity of joining a local club.

Gunnar: This move has been a bit on the quiet and he let his contract run down and has sneaked out of the back door. For me he has joined a team on the decline and signing a player like Gunnarsson in comparison to players they have signed in the past shows that Cardiff are struggling to keep afloat. I believe that Gunnar wouldn't have a bad word to say about our fans as we treated him like one of our own.

Westwood: Now Keiren himself has said in the past that he considered quitting football and only this week said at one point he nearly becoame a plod. I am surprised that he has not thanked us for all we have done for him and the opportunity we have created.

Sign of the time folks- they earn too much money, and very few of them have the wherewithal to handle the responsibility that comes with being a public figure.

Unfortunately, it only serves to massage their super egos, for many of them, and hence they have no loyalty to fans, team mates, or the clubs.

Interestingly, there may be a bit of a reality check soon, when the new financing rules start to bite.

Here's an interesting stat.....on the radio yesterday, they said that the lottery winner £160M would be earning about £2500 per day, in interest! Most of us could live on that, lol......but if you multiply it by seven days, you get £17.5K a week........which is modest earnings for many of today's top footballers, even in the championship!!

Gets it into perspective, doesn't it, the amount of 'lottery winners' we are creating , on football pitches up and down the country.........

Wow! That really does put it into perspective. To say the sport has lost its way is an understatement. The way that players behave and conduct themselves is atrocious.

Contradicting myself just having a look at the players that Cardiff have bought in I doubt they will struggle this season afterall so my prediction of them dropping down the table as they have lost quality is false.

Westwood completed a solo lap of honour and stayed out later than everyone else, no? Surely that was his goodbye. If he is not asked about it at a press conference then I guess he won't say anything.

As for King, the less said the better. I think Gunnar lost his love for the fans with the whole Facebook issue.

I'd have left if I'd been anyone of those players. This club has zero ambition under SISU. Why waste those precious playing years at a club which is going backwards?

Is this thread serious? I can only assume the school holidays have started if you are having a discussion on Whether players who have left have thanked the supporters.

Why would they want to thank them anyway? From my experience a player is only ever 1 bad game away from the "supporters" turning on him. You can feel the crowd waiting to turn if we aren't a goal up within 10 minutes. This negative attitude from the stands is as much to blame for some of the performances as the players themselves. Or maybe it's just coincidence that all these ex players have slated our supporters or taken such joy from beating us?

^^^^^ what was the facebook issue?

He joined FB and became friends with loads of the fans in his first season and had a really good relationship. Then when the 2nd season started and he struggled people started laying into him and he had to quit FB to get away from them I think Cov fans are some of the most fickle in existence to be honest.

Have a day off mate, this is a forum where people present what is on their minds. We are not kids off school, we are adults bored at work trying to fill a gap in a remarkably uneventful day for Coventry City news.

Hartson never turned on the city, the board just told a pack of lies about his sale and he was mega pissed off.

Why would they say thanks? It's a job. When the Person serving behind the counter at Mcdonalds leaves because he's been headhunted by Burger King, do you think he rings up all his Mcdonalds customers and thanks them? Seriously. 

Is it any wonder with a mentality like this we've had a succession of owners take the piss out of the club and its supporters.

Some of us would still like to think that there are some decent people left around and you do still hear many footballers who move on to bigger and better things thank previous employers their staff and fans for everything they have done for them.

Its not much to ask for is it? Apart from the minority who took advantage of Gunnar's good nature, did we really treat any of them badly?

Gee only an expression of opinion chap and in the scheme of things not important. However the purpose of a forum is to exchange views or opinions on matters big or small AND not to be derided or belttled for doing it

And to be honest I really cannot take seriously being chided for expressing a small niggle with certain players by someone who seemingly hero worships an american mobster and contract killer http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Kuklinski

You were doing so well to rise above it and then spoiled (spoilt?) it at the end. I make that 1-0 to Kuklinski :)

:D nah It really isnt that important Rob - if he thinks he won I am really not bothered, I think I have done enough to prove I am not an entirely witless Sky Blue fan :D though I admit to having some moments - I bought a season ticket after all and keep going back season after season for punishment

Although his utter contempt for Coventry fans is very apparent, Kuklinski is right on this. Why is this even a discussion? They've gone, that's when you move on.
