Why is coventry air port not in the borough?

Why is the university of Warwick not in Warwick?

Exactly, if the ricoh was a mile further it wouldn't be in the borough. Council borders change, just because it is outside the council line doesn't mean it's not Coventry. Common sense needs to be applied.

If the Ricoh was 500m a way it wouldn't have been in the borough.

Ok so those of you who dont mind it being outside the city, can you put a distance on it before it becomes a problem.

5 miles?
10 miles?
35 miles?

For me. Within 5/6 miles of the city boundary and in a CV post code.

It is down to common sense really isnt it? If they try to build one in rugby town centre it isn't coventry but if it is in keresley or bagington it is...

I'm not going to be foaming with a metre stick, if it happens then people can judge if they think it is coventry or not.

They could build it next to the cathedral and a few would still moan...

Being at Ricoh or 34 miles away,
In a town which already has a pro footy club.... No brainer!

If they build the stadium 34 miles away then I'd totally understand why people stop supporting, the same as if the move to Northampton becomes permanent.

Well Grimsby isn't in Grimsby. Brighton isn't in Brighton. Leamington isn't in Leamington...

We would all be delighted if we played as close to Coventry as Grimsby play near Grimsby. It is less than a 1 minute walk away. The ground is in Cleethorpes and if you don't know where the boundary between the two towns is.......it is a ordinary looking road with houses that runs between the two......you wouldn't have a clue it is just outside the boundary. BTW one of my lads is a Grimsby STH

YEs, I've been to the ground so I know how close it is to Grimsby. But as you said yourself it's in Cleethorpes.

Less than a one minute walk. It is only a 5 minute walk from Grimsby town centre. So what is the problem?

So what are you trying to get at? Good reason for SISU to build more than a minutes walk away from Coventry?

Also, Cleethorpes football team is considered to be Grimsby.

I'm saying if it is close as that it doesn't matter, it is down to common sense.

And also ease of getting to. The Grimsby ground is on the A180. It is on the main road through. It is more or less just after the docks. One of the rare older grounds that is in a good location. It also has the sea wall behind it. This is why it is the coldest ground I know of. I went in with the Grimsby fans when we played there.

Here is something that should worry SISU:

http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/spo...s/birmingham-city-paladini-says-would-6205505

£20m offered and, supposedly accepted by the CEO, for Birmingham City, a Championship side, still in receipt of Premiership parachute payments.

So can anyone explain how SISU are going to make a profit, from the sale of CCFC, by building a new ground or buying the Ricoh at a fair price, if £20m is the going rate for a Championship side?

They won't make a profit, but they may make back some of the money they have invested.

But to get to that position, they'd have to support the losses until a new ground is ready and then fund the new ground - on top of their existing investment.

True, but if you were them, what would you do? It's easy for us to say they should cut their losses and just leave.

The funding of a new ground isn't the problem in itself though is it? As we've seen here, fans would campaign tooth and nail to make sure SISU got their money back for it at the very least when they came to sell ;)

You're right re: the other bit though. It's whether they can get something currently worth nothing to be worth enough of something.

A relatively small gamble in the scheme of things for them, though.

Well I see Sisu have achieved what they wanted all the time Division.
fans fighting each other verbally and physically. inter fighting between different sections no matter which side you blame we are all miles apart therefore cannot come together as one. shame really as all together in whatever direction we took could have made a bigger difference, now we have phoenix teams and nopm and kcik and kcir fuck me I was a member of them all but getting to much now.We did really well today but at the end of the day this will not go away. we are becoming a laughing stock and that hurts more

Why would sisu want that? Why would they set out to achieve that? Surely they would want everybody to give in and agree to go?

I guess that the issue for them should be whether they're putting good money after bad.

They could well get lucky and fund the next few years by selling a couple of the promising youngsters, but they seem to be talking about £20m - £25m for a relatively small stadium.

Does it seem realistic that that investment would give them a chance to get a sizeable chunk of their current investment back plus the aforementioned £20m - £25m?

If we're still in say Div 3, what is the maximum that anyone would pay for us together with our bijou stadium?

Exactly, some people would refuse to go and moan if it was outside the council boundary and grimsby was an example that was outside the town.

If it was easy to get to and on the boundary or very close it would only be people looking for an excuse not to go that wouldn't. The problem is that we all know there is a lack of land suitable for a ground to be built on the border.....even if it came under CCC and they made up.
