IS NOPM WORKINGr (10 Viewers)

The notion of what form action takes is seems slightly off. If someone for instance barely attended games but fires off hundreds of emails for the cause, is that somehow 'more' than someone who'd bought season tickets for years suddenly having to stay away but not take part in protests? I wouldn't say so.

Yeah I know what you're saying, but what I'm really questioning is what influence 2000 fans instead of the aspirational 3000 turning up has had?

Under other circumstances id probably agree that staying away could have a big influence, but I'm just not sure with SISU. I think they've proved they'll go to extraordinary lengths to win, Including significant short term losses if they think a long term gain can be had.

I've also been continuously thinking about stuff throughout, so it's really a double shift for me.

This may be slightly controversial but it does make me laugh that there are people who are trying to claim credit for something that as of yet, hasn't even happened!

If you stand on the hill - fair feckin play to ya, that is a serious commitment to your cause and I admire every one of you and am glad you are there.

If you protested at the council house - fair play to ya, you got off your arse and tried to influence something

If you walked the streets tying ribbons everywhere - fair play for making me think of the situation every time I see one.

If you go to six fields - whilst you may be cast as part of the problem, at least you are committed to doing what you think is right.

I go to sixfields but I've also pleaded with Joy Seppala and Tim Fisher to speak to the council. I've sent email after email to Martin Reeves, I've written to the football league, supporters direct and have continuously tried to understand how the situation could be resolved. So I may be a sixfields regular, but I'm still actually trying to influence a move back to coventry.

I don't agree with us being at sixfields
I don't agree with the tactics employed by SISU
I don't agree with the councils stance

But I choose to watch my team, and use other methods to show how I oppose the situation.

But if all you've done is not turn up, what exactly have you done? Can you prove the lack of revenue has caused this? Or given that SISU were only planning for 3000 anyway do you really think another 1000 less has caused this to happen?

You see this isn't about which tactic has worked, it's about a collective effort. Tim Fisher said on Wednesday that whilst he had a different opinion to a lot of fans, the one thing that he's been blown away by is the efforts and commitment of those on the hill who are prepared stand by what they believe and do that for their club.

if all you've done is nothing, what are you actually doing?

Agree with most of what you say but, presumably everyone who has gone along with the 'Not One Penny More' campaign needs to declare themselves as officially boycotting before they will be given credit for trying to make a difference?

If you stop doing something that you may have done religiously for decades then that very definitely takes some effort and should not be disregarded.....

Yeah fair point, as I said in a later post - it was more a point about whether it's influenced SISU or not. Giving up going is a massive thing - whether it's influenced SISU or not is another question.

Of course not going to sixfield bloody influenced SISU. It hurt them where they feel it most. Therefore staying away is a highly effective anti-sisu protest.

Haha - I did cringe a bit when I read that bit back. Was a bit of a grand statement.

What methods do you use to show your opposition? Going along to Fisher's cosy little chats and reporting his propaganda back here hardly counts as opposition in my book.

Oh for an Ian Gibson.

Sisu have stated on more than one occasion that they are 'in it for the long haul'. Fisher is alleged to have said that all the stayaways would be back after 3 games. Well as a stayaway I am also in it for the long haul. NOPM was never going to bring sisu to its knees by November, but I think they are starting to get the message.

They are only here for what they can get, so starve them of money and it's like having your hand round Sappalla's throat. Now let's all squeeze a little harder.

Or the fact that 30 people stand on a hill.

Whatever Nick says now he was intimating that the people outside the council house had an effect. I go on the hill none of us on the hill have ever said that we were going to have an influence only people like you have. Why should we have an influence wnen a march of 8000 people was ignored?

So an 8000 people march,a 15000 name petition, average of 8000 people staying away have had no or minimal effect and yet 24 people standing outside the council house with an 800 signature petition might have

Actually Fisher quoted 6- 7000 if the club was successful, so it is likely they budgeted for significantly more than 3k....

Also, don't underestimate the damage to their reputation, of frequent news reports of poor attendances and disputes, although it might suggest they are 'tough investors' it also might suggest they are a very risky investment.

Well, I had a smoke and thought about buying one of those girly KCIC wrist bands for a while......but then thought it was just more non-degradable landfill & decided to have another smoke, this time with a Gin & Tonic........but then I'm a hard-core revolutionary type of fella....

.....wish I was that brave.....

On the serious side of things, I think Mrs. JS being dragged into the limelight has ensured some kind of reaction. With the MP's asking questions in parliament, NOPM , Sky Blue Ribbons , live TV at sixfields with running commentary on how sad the situation is, she had no where to hide. So all have.. and will continue to play their part!

PUSB!!!

As indeed is their whole business!

You don't invest in such funds for the safety of it all.

LTCM traded in the financial instruments of blue chip companies and attempted to beat the market by taking positions that would yield slightly better than the rest of the financial world, whereas SISU are bottom feeders, trading in companies that are in debt or distressed but too small to come to the notice of any serious investment fund.

So, comparing LTCM to SISU is like comparing Amazon to the guy that sells dodgy gear down the pub.

I don't agree with this at all.

I reckon to many, it actually boils down to not being arsed to travel 70+ miles to watch 3rd division football in a shed of a ground on a Sunday.....fuck all to do with "Sisu bullies"...

I think you will find many will go to a Sisu owned Ricoh....probably more than went to the Ricoh last season....lets hope we'll find out soon enough.
One of the most insulting posts I've ever read!

Do you really think the majority of the boycotters are doing so because of the aggravation of travelling to 'home' games 35 miles away?

Are you saying the majority are too thick to understand when they are being mugged off?

You don't think perhaps the fans of Cov have a set of principles that prohibits them from attending?

Yes it is unfortunate that people are confusing SISU's business model with other hedge funds.

I am sure nobody would confuse the size and function of the QE2, Ark Royal or a canal boat (in this category, SISU would be a canoe, up a creek without a paddle).

When there is a by-election, each party talks down their chance of success so that no matter how bad the result they can claim some "success".

I believe that SISU were doing the same. I believe that TF quoted 3k as his worst case because he never believed that there was any chance that it would be that low. I reckon that his "nightmare scenario" figure was probably around 4k.

As for 2k, no chance........

Just to balance the scales- 35-consecutive seasons as a season ticket holder. It hurts like hell that this season I have broken that tenure. Thanks for your confidence in me. I am not alone in that statement.
-Can I travel to Sixfield?- Easily.
-Will I go to Sixfield- not a chance- the principle of so doing is rancid.
-Will I go when the football club returns? In the blink of an eye- with or preferably without SISU.

Like you hope we find out soon...

If I felt the club had a genuine reason for moving & had no option I would travel, but they don't & I won't.

You invest in a professional company on the basis of managed risk for high reward.
You don't invest in head cases, who get into football with no strategy, who are in the press for losing serious money.

I can't remember the exact statement, there have been many from both side, but I would venture that it would in response to the demo, it would just restate what they have said all along. I wouldn't think a handful of people turning up once outside the council house would have much effect on the Councillors themselves. Just my opinion though.

Didn't mean it as insulting.....but amazed that you think that's an insulting post when compared to all the other shite that gets posted on here!

If City were currently playing their "home" games at a better class of stadium at 3.00pm on a Saturday, but still 30 odd miles away, I believe the "home" attendance would be at least double what it has been a sixfields.

I think the marked increase in "home" fans at the Notts county game (the 1st to take place on a Saturday) reinforces this belief.

I also think you may be confusing a vocal few on here (this board probably only has about 100 regular posters at a guess) with the vast majority of city fans who just wanna go to the pub & the footy with their mates on a Saturday.

I'd suggest a lot of fans just can't be arsed with the combination of travelling to a shit venue every second sunday....

....Just like about the missing 18,000-20,000 that couldn't be arsed, week in, week out, to go to the Ricoh on a Saturday until the whiff of a JPT Wembley trip cropped up....

.....or the fact that 5,000 attended the gentle weekend protest stroll around the City in the summer months, but a few months on & how many could be arsed to go on the hill....30 ish, how many outside the council...25?

...how many outside the FL offices....3?

Kid yourselves all you like that the vast majority are boycotting due to strict principles......sure, principles are involved, but NOPM just happens to be a very convenient principle for those with other plans on a sunday.

For the record: I have not & will not attend Sixfields.
This is nothing to do with Sisu & everything to do with the fact that its about 150 miles from my home & it looks like I'll have a really shit time if I went there.
PS: I haven't been to the Ricoh since 2006 for the same reasons....over 2 hours drive each way & a shit experience. I still attend about 10 away games per season.

May I ask why you think people cant be arsed to travel to Northampton, yet greater numbers have travelled to Wolves, Port Vale, Walsall etc?

I don't mean to sound patronising but as you say you don't live around here. Your opinion of city fans is based on what is said on here.

I cant tell you that the feeling locally is very much a matter of principle. This is coming from the average fans who don't get involved in protests or post on internet forums.

jimmyhill has a point

if we had ground shared with brum i would imagine we would get perhaps 5-6k a game

alot of it is people who wouldnt mind going but cant be arsed with the travel.
