Trust trying to buy the club (4 Viewers)

I think there's a confusion here between buying the club, and trying to fund operating losses. The idea, presumably, is that clubs have to be made sustainable if owned by supporters.

Personally I can't think of anything better than a club partly or entirely owned by fans.

Minimises the chances of it falling into the hands of those who only want to make a quick buck (and therefore making reckless gambles) regardless of the club's and the supporters' best interests.

If supporters had had their way Manchester utd would not have been owned by their current owners.

That would have been an excellent move.

CCFC would have been owned by sisu as 90% of the fan base welcomed them as owners. There was no objection or dissent.

Just sometimes get mixed messages when people post, that's all[/QUOTE]

That's why some people do not post!

I have my own views but if I put them forward it's often seen as those of the Trust, so it's sometimes best not to say anything at all.

There are a few points being put forward tonight from Michael, but any sort of fan ownership is not on the agenda.

I don't think in general but it is just when saying come to the meeting and talk about it.

A lot of the time it can be seen if it it's on behalf of the trust or you.

At the moment the Trusts - and I believe all Sky Blue fans - priority is getting the club back home as quickly as possible and anything that distracts from that is currently on the back burner.

Everything I have seen suggests that many fans (perhaps a majority) would be against any kind of return to Coventry with SISU in complete control, as is being promoted by some elements - as this would exacerbate our problems not solve them, I hope some who feel this way can make it to the meeting to express this.

Another example why supporters are not fit to make these sorts of decisions.

Well at least you are honest I suppose as being in favour of these disgraceful tactics from the start, what is pathetic is the number of fans who were originally dead set against the SISU scheme but have now come round to begging like puppies to be allowed back home whatever the cost.

A misconception. I boycott all home games after 40 years of support. However, your reaction begs a question.

If sisu retained ownership and wanted full control you wish they remain in Northampton? That is illogical.

Not one that would our supporters aspirations, no. It would have be funded with major losses to have any chance of what the average fan would view as acceptable.

you only have to look at Swansea to demonstrate how a decent club can be ran.

do you really think the majority would be against a return with sisu in charge? Can't see it myself. Jan's right priority must be to come home, anything else can wait. I also think that atm the trust is heading in the right direction.

The council built the ground and charge the club a peppocorn rent and allowed the club a share of the management company thus increasing revenues.

Fans shareholding is no more than 10% is it? It's an example of a club valued by its local council. If Coventry council were based in Swansea they would probably be out of business now.

yeah I accept you are probably right - but I do personally think that staying in northampton for now (I do think something would have to give pretty soon) would be preferable to sisu being given full ownership and having their tactics pay off, it would still be a grim future for a long time to come - I really don't understand how we have reached this point where so many are suddenly cheerleading this option, given the long-standing animosity towards our owners (I didn't even fully agree with that at first).

If we'd had supporter ownership before then, we probably wouldn't have been at the point of going into admin, and therefore been panicked into bringing SISU on board.
