Problem is shhmmee that the Board hasn't consulted its members for months. Half a dozen of us submitted proposals to the last open meeting and wanted a vote but were told there couldn't be a vote because it was only an informal meeting. One of the proposals, big screen v Bradford, was done but on the other 3 more important issues there hasn't been a word. Basics seem to have broken down like no minutes of meetings and the trust email address doesn't seem to work. There have always been those who knock the trust but when someone like nonleagueherewecome calls the trust 'pointless' there really is a problem.

You're right Michael I was also at the meeting the big screen was taken on by I think it was jan and two others, the other sproposals if I remember no one was interested in they were put to the members and no one wanted to take them on.

Can't remember but had a word about it they were going to look into varying the days. To me it doesnt matter what day it is but I know that certain people do have problems on certain days. I know most of the Trust Board are going to MK or I think they are I will mention it again

What CJ tweeted from the meeting was "We will put together a group or two to look into the proposals put forward regarding KCIC" - so I'm really pleased one of the ideas was taken up but there's been no word on the other three. There were only 20-30 at the meeting so an email to members asking for help might have been worth a try, or an email to members consulting on which proposals such be prioritised might be a decent idea too

Good stuff, and cheers :)

Know it's not a big thing, but need to get rid of any excuses for the likes of me not to turn up ;)

City centre event to follow on from the summer and create fan unity; a campaign for an independent inquiry to call to account all those responsible for the mess we are in, by lobbying the Dept for Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee; submit application for transfer of Ricoh as a community asset which a Board member had previously emailed me saying the Trust was doing but at the meeting the Board seemed to be saying the time wasn't right and the council had concerns

No thanks... Would rather skin myself then roll around in sea salt than help the trust

Just an idea, but would it be of interest to have a smaller open meeting on another day of the week for those unable to attend on a Monday?
Always keen to hear views and ideas.

We went for a Monday as it suited most but am more than happy to organise a smaller mid week meeting.

Well... personally I appreciate the sentiment, and if you do that I'll feel guilt tripped into turning up just so I can say I have if nothing else ;) so on a personal level I'd be all for that.

I think the danger of meetings about meetings is it can end up becoming a little unfocussed and you risk it not being clear what meeting's for what. At least a meeting a month is clear, this is the time to turn up, either make your views known, listen to other views etc.

There's also the danger of meeting exhaustion from the likes of you who have to turn up to all of them as well!

I can't knock the attempts to keep us all happy, and stopping us having getout clauses though ;)

My suggestion us to invite a few members or those who cannot make a Monday.
Not all the board need to attend.
If nothing else it's always good to get a few different views and talk to other City fans.

I don't believe the trust represent enough fans now. When they were involved in protests they had an influx of members. At that time i supported the trusts actions even though i didn't join as a member.
As soon as they said that there aim was board representation and are now a non protest group i have found them a pointless entity !
I would be interested to know how many fans feel they have been hoodwinked into joining on the back of a protest ?

You supported the trusts actions but didn't join? Perhaps if you and the others who supported the Trusts actions had joined then their voice would have been louder, but at the time you saved yourself a pound then give yourself a pat on the back and say what you're saying now:facepalm:

Some of us (well, me anyway :p ) have been encouraged to stay in because the Trust now recognise the need to talk to all parties, and not take sides.

That doesn't stop them being critical of actions...

As a (sort of) wise man once said, and it fits quite well here, the IRA needed Sinn Fein. You always need to try to keep the communication channels open, play the game...

Give people no excuse.

As another (wise?!?) man said on this board too, they're recalibrating, and maybe they have gone overly passive just at the moment, but they're getting there.

We do not represent all the fans or even the majority of fans, but we do represent about 3,000.
The idea of board representation is one of our aims, will probably never happen but we as Trust need to have aims that could eventually make a difference.
We have never sold the concept of joining to demonstrate, if we did who should that be against?

You say that you are disappointed at the road the Trust has taken.

You should come along to the meetings and have your say.

I go to any demonstration that is organised against sisu I am a trust member and to be honest the people there are mostly Trust members. so is that the road you do not like?

What about some sort of online discussion Steve? It is ok saying come to the squirrel but it may be off putting for some people especially when some of it's "hardcore" members are arguing with other fans and slating them all the time. I just think it limits the input you might get to the same few if it is the same people at the meeting all the time.

I am more than happy to add a section on here for Trust Ideas / Discussions if needed.

To be fair there has never been any arguing or trouble at any meeting all views are shared and all supporters are represented there are young, middle aged, and pensioners present there are also hillers those that stay at home and those that watch inside sixfields... So there is no need to be put off, nobody bites.

Although I am more than happy to discuss issues, thoughts and questions I feel it would just become a section for silly comments and abuse. As you know I have had to put up with that in the past.
I just feel that by taking the time to meet in person it shows you have ideas to bring to the table.
Should anyone wish to contact me privately I will do my utmost to reply and answer questions or discuss ideas.

What about the people who work nights, aren't local, don't feel they could stand in a room of strangers who mostly know each other and are good mates and express their opinion if it differs. Especially if they read on here how people react when they see a difference if opinion and trust members are shouting down other fans.

You can have ideas whether you walk into the squirrel or not, but if you have the same people going to the meeting it might be you only get one dimension if feelings and opinions?

I was suggesting a smaller meeting over a drink, nothing heavy just a few members and a few supporters just like fans do every night of the week around the City.
It's was only an idea to try and hear from those who do not or cannot go to a meeting, am open to any suggestions.
Like I said if anyone wants to contact me I will reply if I can.

I will point out that we do get a very wide scope of fans at open meetings, the Squirrel may not be ideal but it is a nice venue.
We are looking at other places to hold meetings, although we will continue to use the Squirrel as our central meeting venue.

Any suggestions welcome.

Steve, you're going to regret asking for suggestions! I hope you know me well enough to recognise the following points are made in a positive way. So here are some specific suggestions with which I am very happy to help and I'm sure others would too

1- adopt the 3 other proposals from the last open meeting
2 - publicise the Trust's aims and strategy
3 - consult members by email to see if they agree with the aims and strategy or what they would like to be different
4 - have the next meeting as one where people can put forward proposals for everyone to vote on

I'm still pretty immobile so will have to give the hill a miss tonight - wrap up warm!

What about streaming the meeting online also?

This is something we've looked into. I haven't manage to find a cost effective way of doing it. If anyone can help please get in touch.

For those that can't get to meetings I'm always on twitter before and during them. Feel free to tweet/DM me on there, PM me on here or email me [email protected] for any comments or questions. Can't promise to answer them all at the meeting but I'll do my best to get back to you with an answer asap.

Would you want to do just sound or video as well? Does the squirrel have broadband?
