I have a hypothesis to consider. Now, I know there is a risk this will descend into the normal name calling but I am putting it out for discussion (I'm sure someone else once mentioned it actually)
NOPM will not work - gates are lower than expected, an apparent "improved" offer to return is rejected and not even offered directly.
Sisu resent the councils clumsy attempts to remove them, ACL and the council clearly despise the current owners.
We are no nearer to returning than on day one.
So, what can be done? We could be looking at this from the wrong angle. We are in Northampton but do the local public even know we are there?
Imagine if we did regularly get a full house there? Imagine if it was over subscribed? No parking, public transport and railway station full every other week. Regular escorts of fans from town ino the stadium. Suddenly to the non football fans in the community we become a nuisance and the community in turn will pressurise their council and club to end the deal. In turn this would make ground share in other towns difficult.
It's high risk but something has to be done. Other strategies are failing. Noisy protests could also continue in the ground itself.
Back on planet earth this will of course not happen but if it had from the start and it proved legistucally impossible to hold the games with general disturbance issues it may have had a more positive effect than the doomed NOPM campaign.
