There's some hypocrisy on this thread. There will be people who go to watch Warwickshire play cricket in the West Midlands, skilled laborers who have done 'tax free' jobs here stating they won't go and watch coventry outside of coventry or support a tax dodging hedge fund! If SISU sold the club to a sugar daddy who built a stadium 1 mile outside the city boundary we'd sell out for the first match. It's got nothing to do with whether the stadium is built inside or outside of some magical line and all to do with not being prepared to follow SISU's whim of where we play. Which is fair enough, but why not just admit that, rather than pretending the location of the stadium is some kind of sanctified line in the sand that can't be crossed

Football used to be a sport for the majority. You could walk, get public transport or drive to a ground.

I take it the "new ground" built outside the City will only be available to fans with their own transport. This will again limit the fan base and Sisu again are putting two fingers up at the fans.

Like several people on here I don't think this will happen, because I don't think SISU has any intention of building a new stadium - it is all just part of the emotional blackmail to try and steal the Ricoh from the taxpayers.
However, let's assume that they do go ahead. Would you start attending home games again? Not you RFC, I guess you'd keep going to Sixfields - but all the people boycotting today?

For me, the answer is no, I would not go. I support the team from Coventry, not the the team who plays close to Cov. If I wanted the latter I'd support Nuneaton or Bedworth Utd.

That does not make any difference,the CCC still paid for the Ricoh to be built.

When sisu where busy stealing the fans shares by threatening no purchase of the Club, they should have been concentrating on playing the trump card they held at that time, ie telling the Council they needed ownership of the stadium for CCFC to be viable, and that they would not purchase the Club without also buying the Stadium.

And how do you know what was promised by who at the time then!

I think that even if they do build a new ground (which I don't believe will happen for a moment), 2017 is probably too tight a deadline. Realistically, by the time they have bought land and got some plans for a stadium on that land, we are looking at late 2014. The planning process could easily take a couple of years, given the inevitable objections from all and sundry, followed by a planning enquiry and various appeals. So we are in 2016 already. So if they win and get the go-ahead, it could be the start of 2018-9 at the earliest.

The big problem is that the club will have been at Northampton for 5 years, during which time most of the old fanbase will have simply moved on. I believe many already have, and crowds will be even smaller season by season unless there is some serious success to maintain interest. That's why I refuse to believe this mythical stadium will ever see the first sod of earth dug.

Can anyone see a sensible solution / conclusion of any kind being reached before the start of next season ? I am really struggling to come up with realistic outcomes that do not involve catastrophic damage or are terminal to the club as we knew it (almost mistakenly said as we know it).

Well if you are so bothered by it, become a local council MP and try and change things to the way you want them. If not, stop bitching about it all the time and change the sodding record. I forgot we were playing today. Suddenly realised at about 3:50 that there was a game on. Never done that before.

Bristol City's new ground at Ashton Vale had planning permission in 2009, and yet 4 years later still no sign of the stadium actually happening. Indeed both Bristol clubs have been trying for about 20 years to build new stadiums in Bristol. Arena 3000 may one day become a reality.

No hypocrisy. In cricket terms Warwickshire play in Warwickshire, and the West Midlands isn't a real county anyway, it was set up in 1974 and abolished in 1986. Now only a ceremonial county. Are you suggesting everyone should have stopped supporting them because the boundaries changed? That's rather fickle isn't it?

If you have evidence of individuals committing tax evasion then I suggest you contact the authorities, otherwise keep your accusations to yourself.

I will not watch CCFC outside of Coventry. End of. Nothing stopping you and a few others doing it, but it seems the majority wouldn't.

We are a ancient proud city. One who's inventions has helped transform the modern world, rebuilt from being virtually destroyed whilst standing up for democracy, home to over 100 car manufacturers. I'm not prepared to stand idly by and watch our city get embarrassed by some two- bit hedge fund.

Its time that Joy Sepalla, Tim Fisher and Mark Labovitch find out what happens when you mess with the people of Coventry. They might take away our football club, but we are sure as hell going to make sure that cold hearted bitch never gets her money back.

After many years of effort this project took a step forward on 28th June 2012, when the Club bought a 7.6 acre site in Lionel Road South from Barratt Homes who had originally acquired the site in January 2008, for a development in partnership with the Club.

Brentford FC was given the green light tonight by Hounslow Council to relocate to Lionel Road.

A packed out meeting of Hounslow Council's planning committee on Thursday (December 5), with an audience of 525 supporters and objectors, waded through four and a half hours of comments and questions to come to the conclusion that the Lionel Road site should be given the go-ahead.

The football club and its attached sports trust will now proceed with plans for a 20,000 capacity stadium.

Brentford FC also received outline permission to build 11 surrounding tower blocks of seven to 17-storeys with 910 flats and a hotel. The details will be approved at a later date.

NB this project is financed by a partnership with Barrat Homes.. to build substantial housing development on the site..
