If planning permission couldn't be gained for a mere 200 houses, what chance has a football stadium got?

That's just a report on the SBT press release isn't it? Not clear if the quote from N&B council is a response to the FOI request or just a random quote from someone they've spoken to before running the story, if it's the latter it's meaningless.

That didn't make sense to me either but I just assumed I was missing something but on the face of it if you can't get permission for a community centre there's no chance of getting it for a football stadium.

Wonder if someone from the trust could contact NT and get their thoughts on this.

And why is that "worrying?" It is after all the agenda for the meeting so whu go and ytalk about anything else?. I have a particular point to make about how the club has allowed season ticket numbers to decline (even before this season) and how the club needs to have a massive push on this and a dose of humility to welcome back the lost generation- not just this seasons missing but those who have deserted over the last 5 years - this applies whether we are building a new ground or back at the Ricoh. There is no long term viability of club until this is recognised and acted upon.

Of course, I could always take your advice and wrap myself in a piss soaked bedsheet and shout SISU Out from the back of the room. In my experience, my option will have more impact, but thanks for the advice.

that was my thought. the government are coming under pressure to build homes as there is a housing shortage, i'm yet to hear anyone putting the government under pressure to build more sporting venue's. especially as there is an empty one with the right colour seating the other side of the motorway.

i'll believe it when it's confirmed they've purchased the site, until then we are back to square 1. mushrooms, all of us. even andrea b and rfc despite what they like to think.

I know the area as a kid, its full of old mine shafts ex mining area, access is via blackhorse road only by bayton rd, real traffic hotspot..

Local residents in Weddington have been fighting a bitter battle against Nuneaton and Bedworth council over plans to build hundreds of new homes on the greenbelt up there.

It would be a brave council to waste land on a football stadium whilst having to build houses all over the countryside.

You're more trusting than me! I won't believe it until it's built and we're playing there. To be honest I thought they would have purchased a piece of land by now. That's relatively easy to do and is unlikely to go down significantly in value. Thought it would be an easy way for them to try and prove they are actually going to build it.

i guess that's the next line of enquiry for the trust, find out why the planning for houses was overturned by the secretary of state after it had been approved by the local council.

the CET need les back, i'm sure with his connections as political editor he would have found out why before speculating on what the site is going to be next. it might be something as simple as the land is protected by law from development and must remain green belt. still don't search out facts if it gets in the way of a good ointlaugh: story

We shall see, it's still very doubtful in about 97% of fans mind's that a new stadium will be built, not to mention this location, until land is purchased and the first brick is laid I will be very skeptical.

Think the boundary is the M6.

Access in its current state would be a nightmare & with the housing developments/bayton rd industrial estate not much room for change.

I could have confidential discussions with the Council about purchasing land, doesn't mean jack if I don't actually buy it.
