Or are we after signatures amoung all football fans who believe that the game is losing touch with fans using Coventry as an example?

It is likely they want their money back. What's the most likely situation for that to occur?

More shouting at them or giving them something to sell?


Also, i'd like to add here, that no-one thought they'd be mad enough to take us from Coventry to another town. I suppose in that vein, no-one thinks they'd be mad enough to build a new stadium?

That in itself Edgy is why a part of me believes there may be a new Stadium if the Ricoh cannot be purchased.

The petition is ostensibly about governance of the game.

Personally I think it would have been more powerful to have got together with other fan organisations, particularly Hull, Cardiff, Leeds, Blackburn, Bolton, Portsmouth & others who're currently or have recently suffered at the hands of their owners and aimed the words squarely at the government and their pathetic lack of action, avoiding too much emphasis on specific cases such as ours. But the die is cast and we should push on with what we've got, there is a long way to go, nothing like this can be done overnight.

The DCMS enquiry has produced several reports but subsequently nothing has happened, for instance look at this FL attitude.. are you happy with that?

By way of response, Football League Chairman Greg Clarke, in evidence to the DCMS Select Committee’s follow up report (January 2013), commented that while he agreed in principle that supporters should know who owned their club, many
owners wanted to protect themselves from a minority of fans who may put pressure on them to spend more money on the club.

..in 2013 the DCMS Select committee's view was ‘We remain unconvinced that the ultimate owners of football clubs—which are not ordinary businesses and operate for the enjoyment and benefit of their local communities and fans— require their anonymity to be preserved either from or by the football authorities.’

This would have been a hugely powerful message if we could have got 15+ members of the Football League on side with us originally even if the case study is CCFC's situation.

Fair enough Nick - maybe give it another blast (via pm perhaps) as the wording is under discussion. Most people I have contacted pretty much get that is isn't just about Cov, but governance of the game. They haven't been too conerned about the wording in regard to who's fault it is. But if its something for the locals (I don't have an ear to the ground on that) that is stopping signatures then another comms push - short, sweet and with clarity may be worth looking into. It is early days so would still keep it all in a postive light. Get that draft text sorted!

I'm feel the same. However unlikely something seems, however illogical, the past tells us to expect the unexpected with SISU. I don't think they will, because I think they'll get their way eventually but if they don't.......

I am by no means saying change it all, I am just saying add a line to clarify what the investigation is and what will happen and that all parties will be asked to attend.

With regards to making the negatives a positive? You find out why people won't and then address it so they do (or at least try within reason).

Of course I am nothappy with the FL's attitude but for many years now they have turned their backs on the most important aspect of the game, the fans.

I think after the Arsenal thing something had to be done swiftly..so time wasn't available to bring in additional sponsors, but there is nothing to stop us asking other fans bodies to endorse the petition.

If people honestly put as much effort in to getting the numbers up, as they do spouting crap on here (me included today) then we wouldn't be having this argument would we?

Yes we have had comments from people with regards to all latest KCIC stuff from sixfields attendees and GMK users. If they dont agree with things that is their choice.

Me and you both! I've just had to apologise on the official petition thread. But we're still the number 3 trending epetition and numbers per hour have increased during the day so some people are clearly happy with it and it's yet to stall.

So our club never paid a penny for the land. They also never paid a penny towards the many millions it cost to decontaminate the land either did they? The sale of the land to Tesco's still left a shortfall of between 40m and 50m. Our club never paid a penny towards that either.

CCC does not owe our football club a living to make up for the mismanagement that went on. Why should they have given our clubs owners anything for nothing? Everything that happened was their fault after all. They were given a share in ACL for no payment. But our club even sold that. If they hadn't sold it they would have had more of a say financially. They could have negotiated more about having the full leasehold. But they did nothing but cash in.

I feel the same for SISU. They could have bought the share in ACL. They didn't. I don't think they should be handed over anything for under value for the same reasons as above. CCC don't owe our club a living. It is nothing to do with CCC milking our club. Our club was given something for nothing and sold it.
