It really isn't

Seems very real to me based on the fact our fixtures for home games are in Northampton this season.

Now Grendel, font of all factual knowledge, please tell me when do Coventry next play in Coventry?

How real a threat depends on definitions really - how long is effectively permanent, how close is moving back to Cov and how far away is not ? The only certainties seems to be the uselessness of all involved and the fact that we will still be none the wiser going into next season. Despite all the bluster there has not been a single effective decision / action / piece of information of use to the fans since the move to Sixfields.

This won't happen, it makes me laugh how people seem to think Northampton and its fans would just happily merge with us too. They're a small club, but no doubt have a proud fanbase like any other club does.

The club can't remain in Northampton, it can't, we've seen the gates the club is currently getting. We either return Cov (sooner rather than later) or we go under, there is no inbetween.

Besides which, the FL have definitely said this, I have it in an email fom them :D
As you know the Board has given Coventry City permission to play its matches at Northampton Town for the next three seasons. This term can be extended for two further periods of 12 months, provided the club can demonstrate sufficient progress towards the building of a new stadium in the Coventry area. Should the club not comply with this timeframe, the matter will be considered by The Football League Board at the relevant time with reference to both the permission to relocate and the membership agreement entered into in August 2013. Expulsion from the League would be a realistic outcome at that stage.

The situation is fluid. By which I mean if NTFC get relegated from the FL this season (not beyond the realms of possibility) then some sort of merger with CCFC (who have the league share) would be very attractive to them. On the other hand should that not happen then all other options will still be open to Shitzu such as, negotiate a return to the Ricoh (not holding my breath on that one) or the building of a new stadium ( not holding on that either) So; what is the alternative?......Liquidation?.....How would they get any return from this? Or, sale? To whom? No ground, a dwindling fan base and very few assets! As you will gather I am totally confused as to Shitzu's forward policy as much as I am sure that they are!!!!1

Garbage. Northampton don't own the ground - the council do so there is zero benefit to either party.

What has ground ownership to do with anything. A merger with CCFC will allow them to carry on with league football at Shitfields be it under another name. That is all. Talk of ground ownership is totally irrelevant.

As is the rubbish spouted by you and others of a merger. You've genuinely got enough to complain about without making stuff up.

One - Northampton supporters would reject it
Two - the football league will reject it
Three - sisu will reject it

This has to be the most stupid thread in the history of SBT.

AND the FL would take notice of all those objections would they? Believe that and you are the stupid one!

Oh I don't know. The mutual back slapping over match postponements is pretty stupid.

Why; in my scenario, would Northampton not want it? They would be without league status (but with a chance of regaining it in the forthcoming season). From Shitzu's point of view it would give them something to sell.

They DON'T OWN THE GROUND there is nothing to sell!!

Nick close this thread the council own the ground there is no evidence that Northampton would consider this let alone Coventry. Its utter bullshit.

Actually don't close the thread. Tony I tell you what lets have a charity wager. If this happens I will donate £1,000 to your favourite charity and if not you donate £500 to the dogs trust and £500 to Redwings -they need the money. Tony this is a bet yes?

you just know they would move the goalposts on this in a shot if it means the fixtures continue. I wouldnt be giving any credibility to 5 years at all !

No. Neither you nor me know what is going to happen; all we can do is to give our best estimates on past behaviour and upon that I am favouring a merger in certain circumstances. Those circumstances being proceeded by Northampton's relegation from the league. In those circumstances of course it will give Shitzu something to sell ie a league club. The fact that there is no ground to go with it will not bother them. They have ways and means of obtaining that or have you not noticed.

Or they could gain promotion in their first season and be back in league football within a year.

Just more scaremongering nonsense, it's not gonna happen.

Haven't they already got a league club to sell? Why would they need to merge with northampton to have something to sell?

Yes, they do have a league club to sell but not one with a ground. At Shitfields they would have a leasehold tenancy.

Because you have no courage if your "convictions". I offer a geniune bet for charity and you shit your pants.

I rejected your bet on monetary terms only. I am obviously not as wealthy as you. But I do have something which you seem not to have; an intuition of future events based upon previous behaviour. I will gladly give you lessons in this art for free!!!

I love my club i have followed them everywhere , skint had kickings, watched sad performances every emotion , i would do any thing for ccfc but i've had enough my mates are the same, all i want from my club is honesty , i don't want mega money signings just "what you see is what you get ", i'm a cov kid who's familly came from Scotland to work in cov ,Seppella needs to realize this is Coventry City a real community club , you are playing your brinksmanship games with real people who wont back away from your attempts at taking OUR club away from us. play up Sky Blues. nopm !

Yep, same for me!

The FL also have to recognise that they too have a responsibility to every community that every club represents.

They have utterly failed in the most contemptible dereliction of responsibility seen in sport for a decade.

The inquiry is long overdue as to why these spineless committees are being consistently brushed aside by the commercial interests of foreign based, anonymous wankers.

It's not going to happen, who's going to buy a football club with a leasehold on shit ground and absolutely no fans as both ccfc fans and Northampton town fans will turn their back and a debt of £60m+ in league one?

It's just more scaremongering nonsense.
