Hate how Sisu tried to demonise ACL for using a PR firm... totally immaterial and a good example of them throwing mud at others to distract from their own (far more relevant) failings

I think it's more about the council using the PR firm by proxy through its directors on ACL's board. They have circumvented FOI or other scrutiny in doing so.

I thought the whole point of escrow was that it didn't have to be initiated by the payer.

I thought escrows should be under the control of an independent 3rd party, are they saying then that the FA were the body that could give permission for drawdown?

I really wasn't on about the escrow - we all know it was there and it was used. Nothing new and nothing criminal.
I was simply saying the language between the two reporters is different.

I had a quick chat with Clive after yesterday's proceedings (commiserated with him on not commentating at Edgbaston) and he was getting ready to do a radio piece. (It's all iPad & headphones these days.) So yes. I'll see if I can get info on when he's on but it might be recorded in for the regular news.

Glad they are
I seem to be getting the impression they had washed their hands with anything not football related

They don't control ACL though do they? They've got a 50% shareholding, and a couple of seats on the board.

Regardless, I'd rather all of the sides were completely open and disavowed PR companies (and also World Peace and a bigger salary), but I don't think there's much chance of that at the moment.

Now we are talking about an Italian firm called Wam, which got aid from the government.

Joys favourite song ?

So is that him saying the state aid law was breached but because they were misled or am I reading it wrong?

Has the lines of argument become clearer now?
CCC QC saying they made a decision based on information they had.
ACL QC saying they were given that information because it didn't fit criteria of state aid.

Nobody is admitting state aid law was breached.

It will come down to Judges interpretation and knowledge of the law....he will be well prepared for this case and be able to research further if necessary.

Coventry City director Mark Labovitch has just arrived. His first appearance here this week.

Hey, hey...Mark Labiovich – who in some ways could take the 'credit' as the architect of today's proceedings – has just arrived with an as yet unidentified other person.

I have to say, I am so tempted to pack up my things, rush to the front of the court and yell to the whole room that everyone should realise that all the people with the power to end this dispute are here and they should just get down to negotiating a solution.

I'd take the overnight stay in the cells...

Fair one and agreed

ACL QC says this is the first state aid case in an English court not concerned with tax and regulatory matters. He thinks it is the first to focus on the private investor test. There have only been a few state aid cases in English courts

It's quite literally like pulling teeth.

And that is why a jury sometimes struggles....they switch on and off at the wrong moments and don't always focus on the right things.

Three days using the judge as arbitrator. Could have been productive.

Just a thought on the profit from the loan to ACL. Is the considered in the context of real term cuts in the central government grant to CCC over the next few years? It is a notional profit on the loan that would probably be swallowed up by cuts.

Simon Gilbert@TheSimonGilbert · 25s We're still hearing about case law here from ACL QC. Thoughts wandering to the start of the World Cup tonight...

Depends on what the brief of said PR company is, if it's to throw mud at others to distract from ACLs own failings...

Personally I don't see why they needed them, they already have their own PR and communications team.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - so please excuse any spelling or grammar errors :)

SISU have M.L. for spin and mud slinging. Don't need outside help... ( or maybe would do better with it )...

Indeed. We've had bus lanes too. Next up no doubt, Romanian matchstick whittlers. Nigel Farage would be having an aneurism.

Apparently she's a big fan of fellow New Jersey native, Bruce Springsteen.

One Step Up

We've given each other some hard lessons lately
But we ain't learnin'
We're the same sad story that's a fact
One step up and two steps back

It'll be that one then!

We are now onto a case involving bus lanes and cabs.
Looking like lovely weather outside.

Are they giving the evil eyes to each other?

Can anyone see Seppala's eyes through those sunglasses?

Why don't they all go down the pub after this and sign a deal to get the club back at the Ricoh?

Or will they have a mass brawl?

'My 1st ever tweet. Honoured to be mentioned by Simon Gilbert, the Harry Styles of local journalism'

Haha! Simon does have a touch of the boy band about him it has to be said :) [Says me who has the look of Tim Fisher's dog's arse on a cold morning]

ACL QC infers Coventry not as metropolitan as Copenhagen after Sisu cited case law example in that city earlier in proceedings.
