Nick says...."What makes you look a prat is going off on one all the time when you completely misread the posts and their context and go off on rants about Gary Flitcroft and how you were paid to play and your friends are famous stars etc etc."............................................................What makes YOU look like a prat is...We were talking about DAVID Flitcroft. Remember Nick....Research! and READ previous posts before spouting your f**king big mouth off!

Absolutely genius. :)

So are you going to tell me who said Pressley or Flitcroft were binned off as players? Are you sure you read every previous post?

David Flitcroft played for a living, and released him from Bury.

Steven Pressley played for his country, and for a living... and released him from Coventry.

This is saying that both managers were also players who got rid of him, so being a footballer doesn't count for that much when it comes to rating Edge.

Nobody said Flitcroft or Pressley were "binned off", only you started going off on one about it, then you start going off on one about people not reading threads etc. I have never once said you weren't a football and that you don't stay in the Chuckle Brothers mansion in LA or whatever else you go on about, fair play to you if you do! (Yes, I know it isn't ACTUALLY the Chuckle Brothers before your head explodes)

@ Fernandopartridge........Remember this scoreline? Coventry City 1-5 Tranmere. Sat 23 Nov 2013.................I played in the FA Cup against Tranmere Rovers at HR in front of over 25k fans. We won 2-0. Then played another 7 years in Scotland....Nahhhh, course I'm not saying I played a decent standard of football.

West Midlands Premier League?

Brentford lad??
Yeah. Wouldn't surprise me to see former falkirk striker farid el alagui join as well after scoring 20+ goals whilst playing under pressley. Moved to brentford and got a serious knee injury which pretty much fucked him. Now a free agent and seems a logical choice

Can't remember the last time somebody with an exotic name like that played for us. I guess we have Johnson now but not had any over seas players for a while.

It was November 1975 and i think there is an estimated fact in there that is well off the mark ;)
Fa Cup was 1968 didn't play them at all in 1975.

The game was coventry sporting club - they beat Tranmere then lost to Peterborough. I went to the games. 25,000? I was very young but I can't see that.

Cov Sporting was 1975 though, Grendel you are correct.

It was a big story at the time. They were I suppose like Coventry Sphinx or Copswood and to get to the 2nd round was huge. There wasn't 25,000 in the ground I'm sure.

I went to both games Tranmere and Peterborough and they drew very good crowds...one cup game, I can't remember which, Coventry were away at Middlesborough and I think most fans went to watch Sporting.

The Peterborough game did get a good gate for sure.

Coventry were away at Liverpool and Manchester City for the Sporting Cup games.

Coventry Sporting beat Tranmere Rovers 2-0 in the FA Cup - 1975 STEWART GALLAGHER (left) celebrated his 20th birthday with the two goals that earned West Midlands League Sporting an astonishing FA Cup first round success over the Division Four (now League Two) title- chasers.

Sporting switched the tie from their Kirby Corner headquarters to Highfield Road and the move paid off with a crowd of 4,565 turning out to cheer them through.

Sporting lost 4-0 to Peterborough before an 8,556-Highfield Road crowd in the next round - but just 14 years later the debt-crippled club folded!

Ask Ajsccfc.......He went out with Stu Gallagher's daughter.....Stu was the first Pro signing when we turned from "Amateurs" to "Pro" in 1974 I joined at the begining of the "Cup run" season. Stu scored a cracker from about 25 yards in the match against Tranmere. Some great players signed around that time and whilst still the "Amateurs". Charlie Sorbie, Tony Dunk Stu I classed as good friends at that time. Charlie went on to play for Luton. Tony with his 70's "Porn Star tache" was a fabulous MF who could spray passes from 40 yards away to another players' feet. I believe Tony worked at Massey Ferguson. Dave Kite was manager, we played at Kirby Corner, Canley.....Anything else you want to know???........Research it!....PS Grenduffy, We were a much better standard than Sphinx at that era in time.

I think the only way you're going to get an accurate attendance figure is from the CCFC historians at the club. I for one don't believe for a second both of those figures presented to be remotely close to what I think the attendance was.

Yeah. It was probably the pesky 17 or 20 thousand who snook in while the gateman wasn't looking.

It wasn't 25,000 then it was around 5,000 you've been hanging round with astute too much.

Nah Torchy...I leave that to Grenduffy. Anyway, a ground that could hold over 50k looked pretty much well over half, getting on to nearly three quarters full from on the pitch. 5k wouldn't have filled a quarter of the West End, and from what I can remember, the whole ground was evenly filled.....Oh! Tell me! When was the last time that you played a competitive match at HR?....Just curious.

A lot of the ground was closed. I had a seat in the west stand but had to go in those seats at the front of the Main Stand. It seems the mind is playing tricks with you.
