Reading the telegraph it was praising Jack finch and James Madison who yes i thought look cracking prospects but not a mention of Ryan Haynes who stood out to me a mile as our brightest prospect for the future - they always say football is about opinions

I don't seem to remember Maddison even touching the ball.

Finch did look a little lost, especially in the first half, but then he had zero support from his fellow centre backs.. and is still very young. Didn't Maddison lay the ball out to Haynes when he set the goal up? He seemed to actually want to do something with the ball and push forward.

Got to be honest don't know anything about 90% of our players don't take much notice these days just get to know them and they are changed just can't keep up

Lawton was U18 captain and also plays CB and CM, Finch must be doing something right to get in ahead of him and Urquhart.

Would like to see Maddison, Phillips and Haynes all get time this season. More excited by them than most of our signings.

Yes. One positive of these austere times is seeing our young players come through. Remember Robins signing the likes of that Arsenal midfielder instead of using what we had?

The problem is that fans moan about it. Look at Finch. Looked shaky at times early on but certainly not 'out of his depth'. Yet people on here are exaggerating about how poor he was.

It reminds me of when Turner came through. He turned out alright.

Disagree, fernando. Not saying he is out of his depth as a player, but he was certainly out of his depth on Wednesday night. Lost count of the amount of times he needlessly gave the ball away in dangerous postions. Even if he wasn't that poor, he most certainly wasn't brilliant.

We certainly need to give him time though. If the club rate him hopefully we will see him come good in the future. Haynes for me looked a complete natural. Seemed a lot more assured in his performance.

I'm all for giving the youngsters time. I recall when Ben Turner first came into the team. He was making a fair few mistakes but I never got on his back. With the younger players they do tend to be rather raw and need time.

Like shmmeee,I too would like to see more of the young players this season. I can't see myself us challenging at the top of the table, so as long as we're doing okay I would like to see many of them get more game time.

if Finch's mandate was to run, really really fast, backwards, and allow the opposition to have a free run on goal by parting the defence in a way Moses would be truly proud of, then yes...he was "excellent"

and i guess the one great positive was, he didnt cost SISU any money in laundry fees as he didnt get his kit all dirty and muddy by making any tackles

Expect they are trying to buoy his confidence. Would serve no purpose saying he was dreadful (which he wasn't). He just isn't quite ready for regular first team football yet. The more he can be exposed when it doesn't really matter, the better prepared he will be when his time comes.
