Let's Make The Ricoh Our Home (5 Viewers)

Right, this has been bubbling around the other threads and has been mentioned a lot in "If we ever get home" posts in the last year or so.

This thread is to come up with ideas for making the Ricoh more "home", more intimidating to away teams, more supportive of ours, and more full of Sky Blues.

To kick it off, some that I've seen mentioned before:

- Limit the capacity This has been talked about for a while, but really came into focus when we got relegated. The JPT games showed the improvement that can be made with smaller numbers, though for me closing whole stands isn't ideal. My suggestion is you cover the seats behind the exit stairways, bringing everyone closer to the pitch and closer together. The exact capacity could be worked on, but I'd imagine about 15k for most league games. The covers could be sold as advertising, or my personal preference is to use local artists and fans to design something that will...

- Add some CCFC identity The badge debacle put a lot of people off the Ricoh IMO. For me the concourses need to have more character, and some CCFC graphics of old players (like Arsenal have outside the Emirates) would be cheap, easy and add character straight away. Similar boards could be put around the ground, maybe helping to create a tighter atmosphere. Again, these could be removable on non-matchdays if ACL want to be arsey.

- Involve the local community more Coventry people like Coventry people (apart from Grendel). Pre-game, half time and post match should be ideal opportunities to get in front of a crowd and could be used for local youth games/lower league games as a double header, allowing people to stay on afterwards. Or to showcase musicians or other performers, maybe even a season long Coventry's Got Talent style event or a Battle Of The Bands showcasing local talent, people could vote on a phone app. Which leads me to.

- More technology This is a bit Marmite. But personally I like to browse the net for scores, tables, this forum, etc. Some kind of WiFi deal for season ticket holders, with a small charge for others (perhaps chosen when buying the ticket) could give people access when the mobile networks are jammed, without getting too overloaded. A food ordering app would do wonders, if for no other reason than to stop so many people walking past me 5 minutes from half time.

- Less technology Cashless needs to be optional. These days people can do the same with Contactless Payments on a debit card.

So there's some ideas, what else have you got? Would any of the fans groups be willing to use their newly forged contacts at the club to push these suggestions?

Throw the away fans in a corner with home fans either side with a small amount of segregation, we are not in the championship, no need for 6k away area, for 1k fans coming, box them in and add to the atmosphere.

We've finally got to get a good pre-match tune....and its got to be "cool"......so its got to be the Specials !!

Personally, I'd go for their cover of "Enjoy Yourself"......

COME ON CITY.....

.....I'M STILL AS HIGH AS A KITE....:pimp:

More beer
Cheaper beer
Beer delivered to your seat
Beer
No Carlsberg, Carling, Fosters or other pids water.

Staropramen, Budvar or something decent instead, even Stella. That'll get the crowd a bit lively.

People with shirts with wacky names on banned for life e.g. The mad hatters

People who call players by their first name banned for life e.g. "Come on Jordan"

People moaning about others standing up or shouting (within reason) banned for life

some really good ideas shmee, i am impressed

i would say - cheaper tickets, lets really pack out the crowd, say tenner or 12 quid. would add so many more to gates and if we are regulary hitting 20k fans everyone will feel more optimistic about match days

close off top rows to push everyone together

move away fans close to home fans for more banter. or let cov fans have a bit of that stand behind goal

more cov stuff is a definete, psoters and framed photos all over the walls would be great, it looks like an abandoned warehouse at times(well it kinda was till this morning), maybe some sky blue banners drapped everywhere be good too.

mobile food/beverage options, people walking around with those hotdogs after game shift them quickly(because a quid) but be nice if they could walka round and offer them for a round figure to eliminate coin change time wasting.

get rid of jd as the mc, get an mc that makes it a warrior atmosphere, every game should be a tribal battle.

stop the bs games at half time, they bore everyone. just put on a min kids tournament or skills competition etc, bring sky blue bells back but make sure they 18 plus to target the male audience lol

sort out pre match music, put on some truly inspirational music, be it upbeat or ambient.

At highfield road there was the supporters club under the sky blue stand. I recognise pubs and clubs are closing and that there may be a capital cost but a supporters club within the ground to be used on non matchdays also is something missing from our club. The other outlets at the Ricoh are not connected to the club ie the Casino or could part of the casino become a supporters club

Some great ideas that the club should take on board, apart from the food ordering app though.

Food ordering app, especially if with payment as well, let's you get far more food out in a short time. They can have orders during the first half and have them ready to go.

Only a small thing but I used to enjoy the jingle of the Sky Blue Song that they used to play before announcing the goalscorer at Highfield Road in the 90's. I'd like to see that back.
