The problem with Coventry is it was always a cosmopolitan City--people coming from all over the UK to work in the car factories.
If City where winning a few games these fans would turn up just to watch a game of football. Now the industrial heart has been
ripped out of the City and there are many more jobless hence the lower attendances.

The premier league has to be the ultimate goal if you want to see good players playing for our team.

Brilliantly summed up, totally agree.

But now we are a student city, and many of these students are not on the breadline like years ago. We can draw them in but only with success.

We don't always have to agree, as I said it's about opinions and just because yours may be different to mine doesn't mean we do not respect the others point of view.

Aw can't we just call each other names?

More difficult though due to the marketing of the PL and watching shite games on Sky. To actually go is an alien concept to many.

That's an unfair comparison, how many of those teams spent 34 years playing in the premiership.

You mean those teams that were winning leagues and trips to Wembley play offs while we were losing to Crystal Palace and Bolton?

True enough but if I were the marketing bod at city I'd be having a look.

Because lots of teams get bigger gates doing well in the division below than doing poorly in the league above. That includes the Villas Wolves Derbys Leicesters the Forests etc.

Our league status has often flattered our ability to accumulate points and entertain.

They declined from promotion to relegation tbf. Had a brief bounce in the cup winning season but gradually declined despite solid mid table finishes in the late 80s.

Yeh 'cos it was great to watch Peake pass to Killer then pass to Oggy then pass to Peake then pass to Killer then pass to Oggy etc etc etfuckingcetera. I was there and it was so mind numbingly shit. As I said earlier , football is an entertainment business.

It's like going to the pictures and only watching shit films , sooner or later your going to stop until a good one comes along .

Sky's football for idiots guide really has worked eh

what a ridiculous thing to say.

you havnt got sky because you cant afford it and thus you are bitter.

only a 'idiot' would say they dont wanna play in the top league where they can attract the best quality of player. do you think the celebrations you see in playoff finals are because they wina trophy?

sick and tired of fans like you, dont know anything about the sport, dont follow football outside of their own team yet want to make statements about the rest of the footballing world.

the bottom line is you cannot afford sky and you are bitter.

The Premier League would give us wider and better coverage, increase the fanbase and could open up the door to Europe and the Europe League.

What we all give to be playing in Europe again!!

you cant, you dont love the spot enough to be like me

as for grendal talking about marketing, who cares if prem is THE best league in the world? its still a great league that is popular for a reason

the other top leagues are no different, la liga can boast madrid vs barca or madrid vs atletico, they also give us almera vs getafe ffs

italy - ac vs inter, juve vs inter, juve vs fiorentina or................sassuolo vs cagliari!

i dont understand how a league not having 20 amazing teams is a bad thing?

I get the feeling that our fans or regulars , take great offence to having larger crowds , it gives them the opportunity to show off the super fan badge they hold onto so dearly , the club used to get great attendances in the 60s early 70s , iffy throughout the 80s and 90s , but we were averaging over 21000 only 6 years back , we need success , its that simple , i personally feel our fanbase is admirable considering the woefull last 20 years overall . Its clear we have the fanbase as we see through individual matches , i mean 18000 v shrewsbury in league 1 is very good , welcome new fans with open arms i say

Trust me this is the same at every club. People want the best for their clubs and success etc but when this leads to fans jumping on the bandwagon the longer standing fans feel aggrieved.

Its like when a band gets big.

Haven't got the stomach to look at the mk dons forum this week but I dare say theres a few on there moaning about the fairweather fans that turned up for the man u game that won't be back for whoever they have tomorrow.
