Yes. Sell me the benefits of being in the Premier League then.
I cant believe any football fan could honestly need to be sold the benefits of the Premier League over Championship football, its right there, Premiere League Football.
Seriously, as a fan?

Understand where he's coming from, but it would be nice to give it a go again.

Lets face it nobody likes losing every week no matter what league your in.

It's always a question I've asked myself, I've been supporting for about 11 years and I've always thought is our support just generally poorer compared to other clubs of similar size or is it because they've been worn down over the years of the club consistently performing from average to very poor in their respective division

I don't understand it at all. Aim for the dizzy heights of mediocrity and then hope against hope that we don't accidentally make the play offs?
I'd prefer to lose regularly in the prem than in L1 while watching some of the best players in the world. And if we got relegated there are parachute payments and a good chance of championship promotion push.
At least something is happening ffs.
Would I rather piss about mid championship for all eternity? No I fucking wouldn't!

I'm not taking about what the media say. As a fan attending matches how is the PL experience better?
Better playing Swansea at home than say Derby?

Convenient team choices... How about Man City than say Rotherham? Or Chelsea than say Brentford?

The marketing gurus have done a great job which I think is ferns point.

Crystal palace vs stoke
Burnley vs hull
West ham vs Sunderland
West brom vs Swansea
Leicester vs Qpr

Half the fixtures as above is hardly the best league in the world.

Its contributed to the worsening of the national team and pays obscene salaries to many mediocre players - it's certainly not the best league in the world

I've no argument with any of that. But Fern's point was that he would rather we rose no further than the championship and I cannot understand that stunted ambition. Its a little like taking up golf but deliberately trying to be a bit shit so you never have to play anyone really good.

And by the way, those fixtures you mention are all the more reason we should aim to be there.

I always find it very strange on this subject when people seem so resentful of part time supporters that they would genuinely rather not have them there and would rather not see a full house. So self congratulatory are they about their `hard core` status that they cannot accept other peoples choices or what is best for the club.

No not really, I don't consider myself hardcore, and don't resent the part timers coming out for a big day. I just get frustrated by them, had they turned up a little more often we probably wouldn't be where we are now.

32k at £5 a pop vs Crewe a game from Wembley. 4 days later 11k vs Yeovil in the league. #fairweather

Very few teams have had the long run of mediocracy Coventry fans have had to endure. I have seen Southampton, Derby Wolves, Villa Forest Wednesday Blackburn Leeds Leicester...all have piss poor gates yet all have more success for us.

i can understand why some have drifted away, we have not been the most affluent city over the years. Grendel said our ticket prices were one of the cheapest the other night, but a survey taking in disposable income of fans shows we are one of the most expensive.

People like Fernado really piss me off, because they crow about fair weather support and then when the fans turn out they are just glory hunters.

The club has a good potential fan base, the club needs to be more positive and competitive and shake the survival will do attitude. Regular flirtatious with success and a belief in entertaining football will bring people back.

It's not that I don't want City playing at the 'top' it's more about what the current top is and what it represents. The whole thing is overhyped in order to sell TV rights. The attending paying fan is an after thought.

Which are the great leagues, the ones where every week its a "big" game, played by "big" teams?

I've seen City play Chelsea and Man City more than the other teams you mention. As a City fan what is so great about playing them now?

Would you like to answer my earlier question first and tell me when these periods of fair weather occurred that our fairweather fans have been enjoying?

The premier league according to scudamore and sky.

Well that I cant dispute. We've been well looked after in L1 though right?

If you defended the right of the individual to go or not go to Sixfields then the same has to apply now and in the past.

To say it was an individual's right to go against the majority and attend sixfields but then bemoan people who for whatever reason don't go to a Ricoh game is hypocritical.

34 years in the top flight with a cup win in the middle?

Yes the sun did come out briefly in 87 but that aside I think its very harsh to call fans fairweather considering the crumbs they've been given to feed any devotion.

Only in your opinion, just one of many examples. Try and chill-out and not to be so rude & offensive.

Football is all about opinions.

Could you try not to post silly remarks, this will avoid such responses.

Hype from Scudamore, when will he be strong enough to admisiter domestic points reduction to those sides breaching FIFA - FFP rules?
IE. Man. City fined £49 million & enforced Champions League squad reduction (from 25 to 21).

They should have started this domestic season with at least a 3 or 6 point deduction for breaching those rules but unfortunately those running the game are in the pockets of their pay masters.

Tragic and it's gradually killing the game, as the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

Where will it end? In disaster IMHO!

We all hear about how fans want to watch a winning team, win more games, the more enjoyable it is as a fan (to some extent regardless of the division).

Below is a list I come across of the long serving FL clubs points per game ratio over their history. Teams like Fleetwood etc aren't included as for a clear picture you need to see it over a long period. We don't fair well at all:

The problem with Coventry is it was always a cosmopolitan City--people coming from all over the UK to work in the car factories.
If City where winning a few games these fans would turn up just to watch a game of football. Now the industrial heart has been
ripped out of the City and there are many more jobless hence the lower attendances.

The premier league has to be the ultimate goal if you want to see good players playing for our team.

That's an unfair comparison, how many of those teams spent 34 years playing in the premiership.
