Some very fair points there, Sid.

If we come back to the Ricoh for Preston still in the top 6 and remaining on our unbeaten run, it will be interesting to see what the attendance will be for that match.

it will definitely be more than 11k if that was the case then.

I sincerely hope so. And hopefully not just because Preston might bring a lot more than Yeovil either.

Well if the team is in the top 6 then yes Preston are a "bigger team" and probably bring around 1k and they will probably be around top 6 themselves. Isn't it payday around then for people?

You got it.

When SISU took over a 20k attendance was nothing unusual. They didn't deliver. They got most things wrong. We are at our lowest point for about 50 years under them. Yet we still bring in crowds the same as about 25 years ago when we were top flight playing top sides.

They have not delivered. Yet some seem to think that they should receive.

And another thing, over the last 40 years the crowds have gone up and down. In the early 80's there were crowds of 10k watching first division football. Didn't help that there was a recession, but 10k in front of a third division club is pretty good going these days as well.

We need success. SISU bashing aside I think we deserve better.

I would estimate between 12-13000. The fiasco with the season tickets should be resolved by then and we all have our tickets for that game already. If they are still expecting ST holders to queue for tickets they have already bought then they don't deserve any better.

That game will be a bit soon to see how the return is impacting over the season. Crawley will be a better indicator. As I said before, it will take a lot longer for the lapsed fans to be convinced, and by that I don't mean the Sixfields boycotters. If City stay around the top 6 gates will slowly increase over the season. If they hit a bad spell they could really suffer as there seems to be a lower proportion of ST holders from what figures I've read.

I was one of the missing 16,000. Why ? Living 36 miles away, being an OAP in his 70's,
be buggered if I'm going to get caught up in the ticket chaos and wait up to 90 minutes with the chance of getting a ticket. Sort it out and I'll be back pronto. I bet there were a couple of thousand or so with the same thought as me.

They might make you wait in line VOR but I very much doubt they'll bugger you.

Nobody missing the point some people just making a big deal out of only 11,000 turning up?
S what didn't help themselves though did they.
Sold 500 tickets on the Thursday didn't matter how many were in the queue would have sold no more????

People need to get over it Now they are back people will go back to supporting them the way they always have.....
We are truly going, round and round in circles and people are missing the point.

Huge anticipation of our coming home. Euphoria, excitement, national press coverage. Massive clamour for tickets, many not being able to obtain tickets. Team on an unbeaten run. Complete and total feel good factor around the city and amongst City fans.

When did we have that in 2012-13 may I ask? :thinking about:

1. Some people couldn't afford it, fine.
2. Some people couldn't make it, fine.
3. Some people tried to get tickets and couldn't, fine.

Think that's a bit harsh. How much were they all fined? :thinking about:

And so therefore we will continue on the slippery slope of financial woes. We can't afford to stay at the Ricoh on crowds of 11,000.

Enjoyed the occasion of the first game back. Fought the tears as they came out.
However, the next game was Yeovil and the reality of the situation hit me like a brick. I have a season ticket but as I walked up and into the the ground I felt a little flat. Relieved we won but I really hope my excitement returns to the levels it was before. If occasional supporters feel the same they will really struggle. The year away for me has had an effect.

Why can't we afford to stay at the Ricoh, if the rent is somewhere near, or even slightly higher than the average for L1, and crowds are amongst the highest in L1, then I don't see the problem. I can't see us getting anything else more affordable.

Well obviously haven't seen the latest figures for the agreement this season, but I'm sure previously the break even figure was around 11,000.

Be interested to know what it is now, but we surely cannot survive on crowds of under 11,000 and if we start on a poor run the attendances will surely drop below that.

If the rent were £10k a match, so an annual figure of £230k which I think would be a decent enough estimate then, the break even figure to cover the rent would be around 1,000 fans.

How much of a guess is that? We can cover the rent from just 1,000 fans?

Break even will include staff and other costs. We know that the wage budget was cut 60% this year, I'd say we're ok on 8-9000, especially if we're using the Wilson and Christie money to see us through this season, then we'd easily make a profit on those attendances.

I'm guessing all of it, but I think they are decent estimates.

I think the rent I'm estimating is about the average for L1, I don't think SISU would be back if it were any more than this. Could be lower of course.

Average income per paying fan was £10 in previous accounts, I doubt it has changed much since. So 1,000 at £10 would cover the rent, the rest goes towards all the other running costs of the club.

Jesus christ....wish people would drop this shit about ticket price being the reason for the drop off in attendance. A few pounds isn't a lot of money, nevermind being a deal breaker for people going to a football game or not - what a weak argument. I think you'd find price elasticity is pretty low with tickets for football matches.

The attendance was 16,000 less because not everyone can commit to a game every single bloody saturday, and most probably find it hard to go 2 weeks in a row. So which game do you go to? The one that is rumoured to be a sell out? Of course, it's not rocket science.

If you could only go to one of the games it was a no brainer. It was inevitable that a certain amount of attendance would be steal from the Yeovil game - anyone who doesn't agree that that is inevitable is deluded.

See how the attendances pan out over the next 5 games, and if it averages 11,000 then yes its pathetic and it's more understandable for you to bitch and moan about it. But to cry over a 60% drop off for one bloody league 1 game against Yeovil Town relative to the "homecoming' game after an 18 month exile is stupid.

11000 for a third division match is good and well above the average, 11000 for a team who has yet to finish above half way in any league for years and has consistently sold it's best players is brilliant, if gates are to increase it will e through efforts on the pitch nothing else

Yes, yes! We all know that 11,000 for a League One match is good. Everyone knows that. No-one is arguing against that.

This was a very extraordinary circumstance though. That's all people are saying.

No point keep labouring on about it I feel. Let's just move on and see what the Preston game brings in terms of numbers.

I would guess 11 on each side.
