To be honest considering how little success the club has had in the last 45 years, and that we're in the 3rd tier at the moment our crowds aren't all that bad. No Wembley appearance in 27 years, no top 6 finish in 44 years. Says a lot about the core of our fanbase for it to still be around the 10-12k mark.

On the face of that statement I agree. However, for so many fans to disappear within a week of our return (especially after the fuss that was made about our exile) it is a concern imo.

You ask the question and we have all gave you our answers.

The reasons I have heard and seen on here for it not being 27k today is:

Money - people haven't loads of cash.

Fans - face it a lot of people went last Friday just because it was a be there game. Sadly.

Family - people have wives, children, parents to consider. That's life.

Ticket prices - is £22-27 (dependant on stand and day) value for money? Most will argue not. I am excluding family stand of £18 due to lack of fans will want to sit here.

Opposition - all due respect who wants to watch yeovil town? They are not a big draw. Fact. Brought what 400 fans. What would SU bring?

2 games in a week doesn't help due to some of the above mainly family life and money.

Work - yes people work on a Saturday you know.

Distance - not all Cov fans live in Coventry. Just ask astute. This makes it very hard for some. Extra costs and more time needed.

Ticket office - it's well documented it's been bad this week and people can't get tickets and posting problems. Long queues and angry fans don't help. Website is not great and many fans don't know to use chrome or Firefox.

That enough reasons for you?

I actually think 11k fans is a decent turn out for a league 1 fixture and considering all of the above. Just my opinion.
Not to explain a downturn of 60% from the previous week's fixture! All of those reasons you've given are absolutely valid of course, and any one of us can identify with any of them. I didn't make the Gillingham game due to: A) Failure of online/phone ticket sales and: B) limited time available to queue owing to work commitments. Exasperated, I gave up. And I live in Cov! I won't be able to make PNE due to a family 'do'. Crawley will be my next game. So yes, all of those reasons affect all of us at some point, but could all of the 16,000 odd 'stay aways' truly cite one (or more) of the above as a reason for non attendance?
It's each individuals choice of course and maybe those that have registered disappointment at last Saturdays crowd are actually more disappointed about the false dawn of our fellow 'supporter'.
We knew it was never going to be close to 27,000, but 11,000? Come on!
Just my opinion.

Still 9000 more then Shitfields though wasn't it.

It has been one game give it till Xmas then we can see a true figure if people have really lost interest.
I like others think it is a decent crowd for this dismal league....
And yes I will go to every game.....
"Too Cheap" at a tenner!- Ha Ha thats a new one. Abosolute classic that.
Dont make excuses - they couldnt be arsed, and thats not a problem, CCFC are just another thing to do on a Saturday afternoon and Im cool with that EXCEPT - the amount of wailing and bellyaching that by going to Sixfields the club were depriving people that were SO DESPERATE to go to see them. Apparently the club had denied people their birthright.

Two weeks later = 11,000

I think people like the idea of us playing in Coventry, just not the act of actually going to see us.

As someone said the Gillingham game was one of those I was there games. Human nature. Same as people who previously had no interest suddenly started madly trying to get Olympic tickets

It's disappointing, I agree. Frustrated me as I can only get to a handful of games a season and plenty have the Ricoh on their doorstep yet chose not to go. But this is the era of modern football-even at our level fans are customers and there are fewer people who will go come what may. Gillingham was all about the occasion for some, and that's why they chose to go for that one game.
