It's still early days, many will continue to follow the league entity while they relate to the players, but for how long? Are you confident the 7000 will still be happy to back a team they rarely see in a year's time? 2 year's time? I agree it is probably too early for most but 'what is ccfc' is not an open and shut question that you make it out to be, there has to be a hypothetical cut-off point where a majority say enough is enough

The longer this debacle goes on the more people will realise this is a hostage situation pure & simple.

Finances aside there is no reason Ricoh couldn't be used at that level. Of course, you can't just put finances aside and ACL would price themselves well out of a club at that level that could charge at most a couple of quid a ticket. Would need to fill it every game and even that may not be enough to make it viable.

Any new club would need to negotiate to use the Butts realistically until they could build a stadium or afford the Ricoh.

But if they offered a new club the use for free whilst it gets on it's feet? After all they have offered it for free to SISU for the rest of this season.

Would also be a good way for everyone to stick two fingers up to Joy. Unless she ever gets round to building a ground somewhere.

How would they pay 300 odd thousand for matchday fees?

I think we are fast getting to the point where the council are going to have to let an AFC Coventry play at the Ricoh for free in order to at least give the city back some football.

I now think this would make some sense. If Sisu see reason then at it could just become a B side in the long term. But the longer we leave it the sooner we risk seeing all support evaporate

But with £10-15k matchday costs surely? And how could it become a b-side? We already have the u21 development team, most football league teams don't bother with a proper reserves as it costs too much money. Plus you set a new team up and sisu have their excuses for never returning to Ricoh.

We're obviously not losing that much support given that we took over 6k to MK dons last week.

The match costs would come down to an extent with a lower gate, but yeah apart from maybe a one off game or two it's not worth it.

I'd be interested in where the players come from as well. Would a proper team attract anyone connected to Cov, ex players or academy kids? Or would you start with a bunch of randoms? You'd need to pretty much guarantee promotion in the first season or two at most.

Fees are proportional to crowds.. and clearly the deal to play there for the ladies team is essentially minimal costs. I think a deal could be delivered that was appropriate to circumstances.

As for not losing support, well that is crazy talk, of course support is waning.. the hard core was always 9K.. that hasn't been achieved this season, nor could it be achieved in the foreseeable future, virtually no one is taking their youngsters up to their first match, there is no longer a viable JSB.. the damage is mounting.

Yeah that would be interesting....I suppose starting in the 9th tier most of the players will be paying weekly subs!! ;)

To some extent, however utilities (heating, floodlights, undertook heating, changing rooms cleaning, cleaning whichever stand is open), etc. would be the same. I wonder whether we got a rebate for the 5.5k vs arlesley match or 6k vs Burton.

I could never support any other team; if the current ccfc die that's it for me. No new club is the same as Coventry and will never be the team that in my first game beat Villa in November '99.

Why are people talking about this anyway? We ain't dead, not yet anyway.

Rather different examples, but Aldershot got Steve Wignall in as manager when they set back up, he was a 'legend' of the previous club. Fiorentina meanwhile, kept Angelo Di Livio when they plummeted to a re-birth. Helped with the shift between past and present.

Don't think Wimbledon did initially, although they've got connections now of course.

John Relish was the first Newport manager when they reformed.

Managers are the usual links, Di Livio's profile as a player was high enough him 'staying' was a story in itself. Helps bash that connection over the head, although obviously you don't want to appoint an utter moron!

David Phillips-esque level would be a decent choice, or Trevor Peake. City players with a decent enough standing post-city that they shouldn't stuff up a job at that level, but offer an obvious, high profile connection to the 'past'.

Not dead yet but dying. Its clear that we aint returning to the Ricoh anytime soon. What will the club look like in 3 years time if it continues to play at Cobblers. Crowds will drop off the quality of the squad will be poorer. I genuinely believe AFC is the only way. Play in sky blue play at the Ricoh,
