Upcoming Changes At The Ricoh (1 Viewer)

Sat chatting { drinking way too many beers for a school night} after our golf AGM last night. Me, a Villa fan and 3 Leicester fans. The chaps are all decent and not anti Cov types and they honestly cannot believe what has become of CCFC. It doesn't seem five minutes since we were a similar club to LCFC and a tad smaller than AVFC. The Leicester lads cannot believe their luck and the contrast in fortunes between us. Their mouths were agape when I tell them about the 100% Wasps ownership and the proposed ground changes etc.
You'd like to think this is the low point but I fear it will actually get worse before it gets better !

At a wedding at the weekend and saw a mate who I haven't seen for ages who is a Saints fan (Southampton). He was commiserating me on the car crash that our club has become (and the result), but said don't get too depressed, it happened to us and we came back okay. I replied that I must have missed the point in their history where Sisu took them over, they had a massive debt pile which waa unlikely to get reduced, moved to their new ground left in a dispute and it was sold whilst they were many miles away etc. It was then that I decided to get drunk. :(

What are wasps doing that makes us jealous? They've only sold a few tickets for the first match? I don't understand.

They Brought the Ricoh something our owners didn't want to do that makes you jealous and angry.

If it didn't you wouldn't keep going on about it

You know what is puzzling me is that after what has happened in the past 10 days there has been very little from the club by way of communication to keep the fans on side. You would think after all that bad news and bad press etc that they would be fighting back but there is nothing of note. You would think that priority would be positive news stories, something of substance on the way forward, I know it has only been a short while but there is nothing. Or should we conclude they are stumped as to the way forward?

The club website has got news of award nominations - one of which made me cough and splutter. That said Pat Raybould deserves hers certainly. But alongside that is the news is of goals scored in training! in 8 v 8 games! There was the statement last week I suppose but that seems weak and to be honest uninformative. "we will have news soon" being said for the umpteenth time does not help why should we believe it - it hasn't been followed through on before.

Surely more than ever it is important to retain the fans, bring them closer to the club, not let them drift away. The club has been so poor at communication and therefore inclusion and in developing belonging and partnership

I am puzzled but not shocked

The most frustrating thing is that they know.

They have been told by numerous people numerous times they always agree, but then do nothing to change it.

OSB58 - I worked for a company taken over by private equity and these people were focussed took chances but generally were one of the smarter more savvy operators I have ever dealt with, I always thought SISU had a trick up their sleeve, some master plan that they would deliver on, I am now convinced that they are utterly bereft on ideas or have any plan to manage and save this club.

Why bother? - everything they do is met with a tirade of abuse on here and the Telegraph - cant even half fill the ground with £5 tickets so not sure what you want - other than a bloodlust to sack the manager.

hard to escape that thought isn't it, everything they do seems to fall down. The problem in part has been that there is no sense of compromise evident in what SISU do even when it is falling down round their ears!

Can you blame us for the tirade of abuse on here and on the telegraph comments section. It's not like they're whiter than white in all this, although they share the honours with the hypocritical two faced council for Wasps getting our home.

Your right they should carry on and do as they have always done.

If it's not broke don't fix it.........

You really are an idiot.

And the Reason they can't half fill a ground is what???

Andreas - they were warned about the impact of Sixfields - but they went ahead, they spent more money onn lawyers and administrators than the squad having sild good players for good money, they keep talking about a fantasy stadium whilst a perfectly adequate stadium was sold to another club - we are in a relegation battle in the third tier of English football, they are clueless but you expect fans to respectthem

Probably not a popular comment but as Wasps branding takes over Ricoh and SISU get zero revenues from the stadium, the more I expect them to move CCFC. I don't see they can afford a new ground so a franchise out seems likely. MGI won't mind if they can franchise in a small EPL club instead.

CCFC's best hope is this rugby franchise fails and MGI agree to sell sometime in the future.

you've said this a couple of times, There is zero, zip, none whatsoever chance of the owners of wasps buying a premier league team and moving them to the Ricoh. You must be on the wind up. You know how much it would cost to sign a premier league team? when even the bottom club in the premier league got £62 million in tv revenue alone last year. Not to mention the fact it would be a completely nuts thing to do and you almost certainly wouldn't be allowed to do it.

Nothing wrong with being biased against Wasps. I can't fucking stand them and it would please me no end if they went out of business.

Sorry to piss on your chips but just bin told they have sold 18000 so far for the match against the paddys. Lots of local Rugby players are going to experience the day, one told me he has been offered a half season ticket for £90. I am not trying to wind it up, just pointing out what our shower of shit owners could have been doing rather than litigating.

Seems crazy to me at times.

'You were standing with your legs apart rather than together, penalty!' Easy 3 points.

You've got it. Here's a list of the most common ones, as I recall. There are others.

"Coming in from the side", penalty.
"Side parting on the wrong side", penalty.
"Not entering via the gate", penalty.
"Leaving the bog door open", penalty.
"In front of the back foot", penalty.
"Standing on one foot", penalty.
"Visible dissent", penalty.
"Visible panty line", penalty.

And that's before you get to scrummaging. That's where it gets really complicated.

"Boring in", penalty.
"Boring off", penalty.

:)

Why Bother!! are you for real? Treating the fans as idiots, treating everyone with contempt and hatred, ignoring the situation and or coming up with bullshit responses is what has precipitated the 'tirade of abuse'. They have continued to demonstrate a fundamental disregard for the fans, or, is it that they are clueless and just do not know what to do next? I'm not sure now. I'm equally not sure if I should admire your dogged determination to stick up for SISU or to pity you. The picture I have at this moment is of a poor shaggy dog that keeps coming crawling back to its owners on its belly with its tail between its legs and getting yet another kick in the bollocks, running off yelping only to repeat the process.

In their defence(!) it fell down long ago. To a degree, we're spoilt(!) still having a club as it has zero value, so we were always going to be vulnerable to the all-or-nothing type attack.

Is compromise worthwhile for a financial institution if it just means the downward circles are a little less speedy?

I've just been told by a reliable source that they have sold only 3k as of yesterday, struggling to give away the free tickets as well.

They are run by people that seem to know what they are doing. And they own a stadium that should have been ours.

Do you need any more?

Why are people singing the praises of the Wasps owners anyway? If SISU tried to permanently relocate our club 90 miles away they would be rightly slaughtered by 99.99% of the fans. When someone else does it, it's a master plan.

How do you know yet how they are doing? Then again you think Blackpool have good owners so I guess your judgement is not the best in this area.

CCFC is a bigger entity than WASPS, an established club linked to the Coventry & Warwickshire area, WASPS have been nomadic have enjoyed relative success for a rugby club but shouldn't be able to compete with us as a business. In 5 months time we may be playing to home crowds of 6,000 with the worst clubshop in the league at Gallagher retail park whilst the Ricoh rebrands itself away from CCFC to WASPS. Whether they are good businessmen who knows it may take many years but SISU I think there is no doubt where they rank as businessmen. SISU talk of fantasy stadium WASPS are actually putting their vision into action.

I don't think anyone is praising the Wasps really.
We just get pissed off with people deflecting the real problem which is Sisu.

Sisu must be sitting there relaxing as these few bleat on about something we have no influence on.
It looks like it's the same people who made a case for Sixfields, slagged off the Ricoh, allowed Sisu to get away with it and indirectly influenced the situation.
