Upcoming Changes At The Ricoh (15 Viewers)

Nah, don't agree there. If CRFC were using the Ricoh as well as us then I don't think anyone would mind. Not sure why it's so difficult to grasp for some.

We could've brought in the Bees to run rings around the council.

What a pile of dross.

If CRFC had brought the Ricoh the same people would still be here shouting fucking egg chasers stole our ground.

Get it through your thick skulls Sisu didn't want it, if it wasn't for free.

couldn't even afford the 2.7 million for half a share.

I think they did want it. But not when it was an asset owned by CCFC Ltd. In 2008 they thought they had transferred the option to purchase to Sky Blue Sports and Leisure. So then they could run CCFC Ltd into the ground with the loss making move to Northants whist distressing ACL and then still retain their option to purchase.

In the end it proved to be more complicated than that and when it became apparent that the option was still resident in a company that was purposely debt laden there was no way they could afford to unwrap the the asset from the Creditor liabilities.

But what is for sure , their intention was that CCFC would never own the Ricoh

True. But Northampton Saints weren't always the draw they are to the wealthy village dwellers of Northants and the surrounding areas. I remember pre-professionalism when their ground was worse than Northampton Town's County Ground and they were attracting a couple of thousand. When the game turned pro along came the millionaire chairman with big money contracts for top players, stadium expansion and corporate boxes offering a nice day out for the chaps and their fanbase expanded hugely.

South Warwickshire has Northampton, North Warwickshire has Leicester. Franchise Wasps have to gamble on bribing the city of Coventry to turn up.

If they'd got their hands on the Ricoh the club would've been put up for sale the next day.

There are 2 differing reasons in this case.

Sisu gave them away at Sixfields to try and deceive CCFC fans into thinking that people were attending in numbers.
Evidently Northampton schools etc were targeted so it was a short term action.
I'm not clear whether they are doing a similar thing now back at the Ricoh, so in my mind that's poor marketing.

Wasps are building a fan base, in Coventry/Warwickshire area and targeting that area so it is for the long term.
I'm am very aware that Wasps are doing this so in my eyes it is good marketing.

Surely you can see this ?

Reasons in your opinion you mean? How do you know ccfc weren't building a fan base? How do you know wasps aren't shitting it with low numbers? You don't, it's the same.

It's just how it can be twisted i guess

as for the last point, you really aren't worth the effort, complete utter nonsense.

Really....?

Look at the facts....
SISU moved CCFC for their financial gain, Wasps owners have moved Wasps for their financial gain
SISU showed scant regard for their fan base. Wasps owners have shown just as much regard for their fan base.

You can dress it up however you like... but that is the crux of it.

If you are going to call it...then at least call it consistently.

Sisu moved ccfc to distress acl for sisus financial gain while deliberately devastating ccfc. The act of horrific owners and morally bankrupt people.
mgi moved wasps for both their and wasps financial gain. A morally questionable act due to hurting current fans.

the fact that you think pointing this out is dressing it up, and that not thinking that these 2 acts are inanyway equal is hypocritical says everything.

I think I made this point the other day. There were no free tickets given out to locals in Northampton schools to my knowledge (both my two kids schools, or at any others - I am pretty sure that it would have been brought to my attention, as I don't hide the fact that I am a Cov fan). Our club playing at Sixfields was a non story in the media locally once the the season started.

The Saints, Cobblers and County Cricket CLub do go round the schools though, and sponsor other local initiatives.

It never happened, so yes - made up. The people of Northampton don't care about Coventry as a place, not just the football club.

Please use something else to hit each other over the head with.

See Noggins post for reasons for move to Sixfields

how is the CCFC Fan Base coming along by the way? I don't know if Wasps are shitting it, as you put it, but I don't think they can lose on the deal they got for the shares. I think it is obvious to a blind man that they are doing a better job at wooing support and building relationships with the people that matter - potential fans and the city generally - than SISU ever did.

I didn't say there were shitting it, just tat it could be spun either way.

I'll let you know about the ccfc fan base in a few months, will pm you on the wasps forum ;) won't be hard to find people getting hard over attendances :)

not sure I agree with this, it seems to me the Wasps fan have been shown respect and understanding, look at the deals they have been given to travel?

No one has ever been able to make a reasoned and backed up argument how the move to northampton would ever lead to the betterment of ccfc. Plenty of soundbites and comments about the long term and needing the revenue but nothing that actually made any sense whatsoever if you looked at it at all closely.

Look at the damage it's none, no assets, a terrible squad, abysmal crowds, no realistic chance to own our own stadium, a fanbase that loath the owners and hate each other, crappy sponsorship, an awful retail store, no ability to handle big game ticket sales anymore, then there is millions in lost revenue while we were away. Opps forgot the administrations, the ruining of last season, the likely relegation to league 2 this season.

You can add the breaking of the lease that has allowed another sports franchise to buy our home stadium, possibly the most damaging consequence of all.

How dare you say that they will all start calling you out for that.:)

They were forced to move,
they were forced to stop paying rent,
they were forced to take everyone to court,
they were forced to alienate the fans,
they were forced to sell all the decent players,
they were forced to keep the new ground under wraps.
they were forced to buy old insester shirts.

None of it is their Fault

At least I try to offer an explanation of my opinions.

So you believe this post because it suits you and not mine because it don't ?
There were several posts saying free tickets in Northampton (not mine).

No reason to believe they were lying. ;)

That's because they weren't.

Fair do's Fred.

I hate the fact I want a team to desperately fail, one I didn't have any feelings for until a few weeks ago, but I really want Wasps to fall flat on their faces, and I want that bitch Lucas to answer for it.

I'am not a Wasps fan or a Rugby fan.I do however understand the marketing effort that is being put into making the Ricoh work for the wasps.
They appear to be making a tremendous effort to make the match day experience as enjoyable as possible.

The most annoying thing is that had sisu been open and above board it could and should have been CCFC looking forward to the financial gains.

It's easy to promise the world when you own the company that can deliver the changes.

Here's a quick question.... a simple marketing and business one.

Would you pay money to market a service or product that you do not control or make not one penny from?

I take it you mean CCFC and no I wouldn't market them if i didn't own them. But sisu do own them and could and should have owned
the Ricoh, and yes they should have used every conceivable effort to sell the match day experience to the fans.

It will be a good learning experience for you to find out for yourself. That will involve you going to their
first match at the Ricoh,You will then be able to report back.

... as he did so vividly with his Sixfields ease of travel, parking and incredible atmosphere report .:claping hands:

They will get more for London Irish than City will get for Fleetwood. That is where we are. Second fiddle to a rugby club. Pathetic. Pity we can't sack our owners.

Is London Irish the first game, with them giving away thousands? I don't doubt they will. maybe we should all get up to ccfc games and get behind the team. That's players, not owners.

Surely to compare it would be gillingham?

From many of the posts on here this is the first game of a club separated from its supporters so surely the measure should be our first game at Northampton
