This is at least some news, if it's built outside the boundary it will be a white elephant full stop, Come on SISU get an application in for a proper football ground squared stadium, no soulless arena bowl, as near to the city centre as possible, what is stopping you applying to CCC now, nobody wants a stadium in Nuneaton, warwick, baginton they want a stadium like the old days of Highfield Rd.

See my reply to Kingofkings and statements from Lucas saying how profitable ACL was.

Whilst I don't disagree with you, we were constantly told that Sisu weren't going anywhere. How long should CCC have waited?

This article is merely a bloke just quoting the law whilst also trying to be the good guy. He knows full well sisu have got no money and are not building a new stadium just like we all do so really his words mean nothing as sisu will and aren't interested in building a stadium.

If anyone on here seriously thinks sisu are building a new stadium wants their brain testing. It's not even hard for dicks like maton as he knows sisu aren't building one so all he has to do is spout a load of crap and he looks like a genius.

We need sisu gone from our club to progress until this happens we are nailed on for league 2.

But the statement does make it more difficult for SISU to persist in the Jam tomorrow statements. it effectively says to SISU there's a site talk to us....

Also if the council are seen to support a stadium within the city it will make any proposal from the club to the FA more difficult if the stadium is 10 miles out of the city.

It also makes it more difficult for neighbouring authorities to approve an application. No matter where it is there will be objections and if it can be shown that a suitable site exists within the city then any application is more likely to fail.

Don't agree. The Ricoh is hardly accessible, is it? That was well out of town and is a fantastic community asset apparently so don't be so quick to write it off.

Dunlop location is not big enough and the traffic would be a nightmare. I think Coventry Airport area is the location (if there is a location at all) and that comes under Warwick COuncil. Perhaps Coventry Council can see that they will be losing another cash cow (rates etc) with us moving (I know its very doubtful)

Hope this doesn't go through, it will destroy the area S of A45.

Agreed but that was more to do with the noise of the planes. I think Warwick Council would approve a new stadium but like the majority on here, everyone thinks SISU is talking bollocks. We will see.

It's part of the Coventry Gateway project that's been called in by the Government. If approved I think the area close to the Stonebridge Highway would be better and that's in the Coventry council area.As for the cost issue SISU are going to need a partner someone like Whitbread who own Premier inns,Brewers Fayre
Costa and I think Taybarns.Google Coventry Gateway Roxhill.

Don't think it was a problem. Lucas kept telling us they could survive without the club if they had to, ACL was profitable, CCFC only 9% of business, future looked bright, etc etc. For the sake of waiting another few years they have given the stadium to a franchise until 2264. I can't believe even the most staunch anti-SISU fan thinks that is in the best interests of all concerned.

The current situation is in the best interests of the city though.

I don't think WDC would approve a football stadium being built at the airport. Its greenbelt land.

Why? Wouldn't the city have benefited from the "bright future" Lucas mentioned and the profitable business? All that cash is now flowing into a rugby team that has nothing to do with the City.

The other weekend 38k people attended the Ricoh. Think how much that generated for the local economy.

Wouldn't that be something? If they really did build a ground like Highfield Road it would get my support. I wish RFC would tell us just a little.

Based on that logic 2 stadiums will generate even more for the local economy. Good to see you finally approve.

I have never been against another stadium in Coventry, but well done for attempting to suggest I was.

Trust should make a FOI request to Cov & Warwick Development Partnership (if they do FOI) to ask if a stadium development has been considered for part of that site.

Gates aren't likely to stay that high for long though are they? Honeymoon period and all that. So, you think that is better than CCC still owning the Ricoh and continuing to get all the income and profit Lucas mentioned over a sustained period of time?

I know we disagree but I really can't see how Wasps is good for the City.

CCC were never taking anything out of acl though, except through loan repayments which are continuing.

How can one of Europe's top rugby teams playing in the city be bad?

the atmosphere at the Ricoh is generally shit and a decent away support out sings us. I dont think that is especially contraversial.

As it is at all third division grounds especially when you're in the bottom half of the table playing absolute shite football. Suggest you go outside at half time and watch the number of people leaving every game.

The ones leaving at half time won't even bother at all soon. By the time we open the doors at the mythical new ground the club will be in tatters and crowds at Sixfields levels.

Imagine the atmosphere at a draughty, almost empty ground, 12000 capacity and made of Meccano, as we manage a 0-0 draw with Macclesfield. Because that's where we seem to be heading under this current set-up.

Well, where did they form and where are they now based? You work it out.

So it was a London Rugby Club but it's now a Coventry Rugby Club. That's official then.

I don't have to imagine. I've been attending all home matches since the Gillingham game.

My point is \I'm selective in what I cheer. And it wouldn't be Wasps.

The point is the Ricoh has atmosphere if there is something to cheer.

Well, someone must have hacked your account then when they posted they regretted buying one. I would contact Nick.

I'm a CCFC season ticket holder !!
