Well of course it does. I care more about keeping my job than any of the city's sports clubs so I don't see why the council would be any different.

If Wasps fail and the £13m rebounds onto the taxpayer they will have nowhere to run. Maybe letting the city's own football club have a shot at owning it wouldn't seem so silly then.

Some obviously are. They say that the evil council will never deal with poor old SISU because of the broken relationship. He is just pointing out that he could not turn down people just because he doesn't like them. Now some of them say he is up to no good and protecting his arse. I think he is just stating the obvious and it doesn't change anything. SISU may be many things, but they are not stupid. They are well aware about what CCC can do or can't do, no matter what Maton says. They are sitting with an army of lawyers waiting to pounce and they are not going to build a stadium in Coventry ( no, I don't have Insider knowledge, but you have explained why yourself ). I know it was tongue in cheek....;-)

I hope you don't mean me? I very rarely accuse people of defending sisu. I do appreciate all but the deranged blame sisu to some extant.

But if he is contradicting himself in his tweets from what he said in the paper then it isn't a PR exercise, its just typical politician incompetence.

What he said in the Telegraph is correct. That cannot be argued with. If he says anything else to the contrary (such as in tweets) then its those statements that aren't true.

To be fair, the only people I have seen saying that the council wouldn't work with SISU are the people who say things like "Can you blame the council for not working with SISU" etc.

Trouble with you Nick, and a minority of others on here, is that you cannot make the distinction between football club and owners of the football club.

I don't want Sisu anywhere near that fucking Ricoh. Anything that puts the ball in their court with regard to building their own serves to ratchet up the pressure, but it would seem you don't get that Maton's statement was intended to do that, do you?

Makes a difference. If Simon asked him to clear up some points, then he is doing it at the request of someone else. Or, of course, he knew that by waiting in the wings, someone would eventually ask him to clear a point up and then he could come out with a brilliant PR coup, and point out that he couldn't turn SISU down without risking a costly appeal. ;-)

I think they can see the difference too Nick. But they feel what happens at one automatically effects the other and by staying away it's doing the best (long term) for the club. I'm with you, I feel it's best to attend at the moment but I can see where they are coming from.

Of course I know the intention of the statement. I explained it in one of the previous posts.

I didn't say they were sort of the same thing, only that one impacts (in Sisu's case horrifically) on the other.

When CCC owned ACL and Wasps were not around then obviously the CCC would not want a second stadium in the city as that would leave the Ricoh empty.

Now that wasps own ACL the CCC are more than happy to have a second stadium as it means more regeneration of the city plus a home for the club.
