I was born(in Colne) near Burnley and regularly went to Turf Moor with my dad when Burnley were a match for anyone. I move to Cov after Uni and was a season ticket holder in West Stand at HR. Left Cov year bfore Cup Final and have lived in Southampton ever since. Only time I have been to St Mary,s was when CCCFC were the visitors until today when I got tickets for Saints v Palace game this coming Sat. Not been to a City game this season. Totally depressed with what has happened and cannot see any hope of improvement. Crap players, crap manager and crap owners. Club is laughing stock from top to bottom. I,m out!
weird how some people love ccfc but not the actual sport.
not saying its wrong, just found it surprising.
This is me. I was taken to CCFC as a kid in the late 70's; grew a lot so started chasing eggs. When injury cut-short my playing, I went back to The City as I found it too frustrating to watch rugby. That would be early '90s. Stayed ever since; until last season - just fed up of it all. Not just out current trials and tribulations; the 'simulation', the attitude of players; just had enough.
Started to watch the late game footy on Saturday evening when I got in from watching some rugby and realised I wasn't enjoying it and turned on the recorded Saracens game from earlier in the day.
I love watching CCFC like no other. But I've learned I've fallen out of love with football
My family on my mother's side come from Clayton-le-moors, Oswaldthwistle, Whalley range, Burnley and Blackburn. Sadly I haven't been up to Lancs for a long time to see them all.I was born(in Colne) near Burnley and regularly went to Turf Moor with my dad when Burnley were a match for anyone. damn now i am weirded out
i thought everyone who supported a team loved the game.
saying that would explain why alot of opinions on here e.g doyle was good, foreigners dive, sky sports is evil etc
Don't worry - you're not on your own! Also struggle to understand how you might love a club but not necessarily the sport! As already said Cov are my team but I love football and would be happy to stop and watch a parks match if I was passing by!!
There are other Cov fans who feel the same! At half time at Gillingham we were all discussing our fantasy league teams when Costa had scored two, or do they prefer fantasy football to live, I don't know!!
costa was my captain!
i just overtook hill83 in our works league :guitar2:
I had costa as captain until the last minute. Same with Sanchez last week. Captain choices are letting me down.
I could never support another club myself but know many who do some secretly and some openly.
The thought fills me with dread to be honest but I was asked recently have I another club I like ?
The answer I gave was a firm none, but if pushed I don't mind Fulham as they are in the shadow of their local rivals Chelsea who I dislike, and I went to Craven Cottage once in the 70's to watch us play and liked the ground and their friendly fans. Any other suggestions ?
I could not support with any passion any other team, born a goal kick away from Highfield road the team is in my blood.
If the cunts who own us liquidate or remove the team to Nuneaton or somewhere equally ungodly then I would end my 40 years of pleasure and pain (40/60 split) and become a passive tourist `fan` visiting 2 or 3 European clubs a year.
