Sisu doing everything on the cheap! (4 Viewers)

And what if he said no thanks? Appoint a lower caliber manager? Avoiding relegation is the only priority this season, let's get that job done and see where we are.

I think we can agree that Mowbray certainly isn't the cheap option,

And haven't we already debated this on another thread?

What message to the players does it send when a manager doesnt show the commitment to sign a longer term contract?

It will make absolutely no difference to them whatsoever.

It says he's come in to do a job, and that's to prevent relegation, therefore that's the target for everyone. Given that 2/3rd the squad are out of contract in the summer it's not likely going to bother them as they won't be here anyway.

Edit: Mowbray made some interesting comments on CWR this morning, and that our short term player contracts will allow him to revamp the squad, where as at middlesborough he was lumbered with players on good money 4 hear contracts not wanted by middlesborough and unable to offload.

I agree that the immediate priority is survival in League one and after that we can make any changes that need to be made. If TM is still able to get results after the honeymoon period is over then it strengthens the case for keeping him on. What I suspect Sisu have now woken up to is that they don't want to do is go handing out another 4 year contract when it will cost them to get rid early. If he stays I hope he can make some intelligent signings before the start of next season with our limited budget.

Joy has no limits when we look to the sky.

It wasn't the manager's decision, it was the owner's. That is pretty obvious! Why would a manager refuse a 2-year contract? Come on, it was obviously the owners not wanting to take on any long-term commitment especially since they will still be paying SP's wages for 18 more months. And it gives them the option to throw in the towel if we get relegated.

Mowbray doesn't trust the owners and doesn't want to be stuck in a long contract where the owners are screwing him and the club?

Mowbray doesn't want to manage in L2 if we go down?

Also wouldn't be surprised at all if TM was looking for assurances on the budget in the summer, hence signed a short term deal until he can get those assurances...

He's been out of work for 18 months, I'm sure he'd love to get 'stuck' in a long contract!

Oh come on, nobody is saying that we should have offered him a 4 year contract-just that 2 months is not enough, could lead to further stability and smacks of short-termism (like everything about our club). And it will not have been because SISU "aren't sure about him" and are worried that he might take us down-it will either be because he wasn't sure about them or because they weren't prepared to pay him what he wants.

Torch, stop liking posts that criticise people who are angry about the short term contract that he's signed: the first thing you said to me in the office on Tuesday was "Just two months? What's going on?!?" ;).

And James, please, pretty please with sugar on top...move that damned "Joy has no limits" line to lower down your sig, it's doing my nut in!

It almost certainly was Mowbray's decision.

Yeh I have noticed that..it makes him happy in his small little Sisu loving anti council world! Bless!
