You still haven't told me what they do to connect to their city.

Erm visiting the citys hospitals, the citys schools, the citys children, the citys disabled people? What about the Coventry City Disabled Team? What about the Saturday morning stuff for local kids in the city?

What do you want them to do, make cheesy posters about the specials with some of the city players on? Stand outside the cathedral singing city till I die?

Ironic really as the city are trying their best to connect to a London Rugby team rather than their own rugby team / football team.

Because I'm not a Londoner, and my city already has a rugby club.
Manchester has 2 football clubs both very well supported.

Coventry is a growing city with a transient population due to the 2 universities. These days it is less about local and more about national. This year wasps are a london team moved North. Next year they are a Midlands team with supporters from down south.

I want them to show their pride in being COVENTRY City. Why wouldn't you want that?

How would you suggest they do that then?

Get involved in the cities major events. What presence do they have at the Godiva Festival for instance?

ha so going around local schools, hospitals, kids clubs, after school clubs, disabled football very week for local disabled people isn't good enough but they need a stand at a festival? Not being funny, reading or seeing them walk into a hospital with ill children / disabled schools like Exhall Grange or Zoe's place and seeing the little kids faces light up is much better than a stall at a festival giving away sky blue balloons.

I don't disagree they need to market a lot better which I said in the original post when you said they don't do anything. The club being at the Godiva festival isn't showing how proud they are, it is marketing.

I do think they should do a lot more with the OAPS though, which I have said a few times.

Obviously working with sick children etc is a good thing and I am not criticising them for that. But I am talking about making the club part of the city. The club should be a Coventry institution. You shouldn't be able to go anywhere in the city and not see something connected to them.

I think we are talking about two very different things here when we talk about engaging with the community.

but really what % of Coventry residents give a poo. 30k bums on seats at The Ricoh is less than 10% of the Coventry population. Community engagement isn't going to increase bums on seats unless the product on the pitch is exciting.

Search the forum yourself, don't be lazy.

Also, the second sentence there is a pile of absolute bollocks.

You made the comment. Why should I look?

And if it is bollocks show everyone. There are posts like I said. But can't remember seeing what you are saying about.

The major problem here isn't the Football Club, but the owners. There are only a few bums on seats because of the owners inability to treat the fans with the respect they deserve. This is a football club and needs to be run as one. S**t on the one thing that a club needs(Fans/customers) and you get everything you deserve...Nothing!
