Rugby: Would you go? (19 Viewers)

Well, it seems the ugly stadium issue has reared its head again. SISU seem insistent on this new stadium and i cant blame them. We need our won stadium, but the one thing i dont agree on is the area where they want to build it. As far as im concerned, if its not in Coventry, i wont go. Just wondered if others shared my view. If our new stadium was built in Rugby, would you go?

not being in Coventry would essentially make us a franchise

cant stand the thought of that

I support Coventry for a reason.

What do you think would happen if they did that to Leeds ......... or Newcastle etc.

Exactly.

How can we all be up in arms about us going to Northampton and then be up in arms about Wasps moving here and then accept us going and permanently moving to a different town ourselves?

Hypocritical.

Put it this way, I have never felt the urge to go and watch Rugby Town FC or VS Rugby as they used to be known.

How ironic - Rugby comes to Coventry and Coventry go to Rugby.......unbelievable!

They aren't building a new stadium anywhere let alone Rugby, They have clearly just spoken to rugby to end the humiliation of the foi showing them to be misleading everyone, it's been 2 years and we are further away from buying land than they told us they were right at the start. It's getting kinda ridiculous that after all this time people still believe them.

i don't think people do though. But as it just keeps coming up again and again and with us stuck between a rock and a hard place, the topic is just going to keep being talked about ad nauseum,

Discussing it's location is giving it credit though and is clearly doing what sisu want.

I don't think it has really moved on much as Fisher is hiding behind confidentiality again and even the source at the council said little progress made.

I don't think I would want to go if the fantasy arena was ever built but I am quite happy for Sisu to throw even more of their investors money in the bin building it if they want to, as they have made it quite plain it is their stadium so if it all goes wrong then they can keep it.

Rugby is a red herring. (or any location for that matter)
We (ccfc) are being strung along until SISU eventually make a decision about how to dispose of us.

Just another SISU smokescreen and people wonder why no one trusts these jokers. When they stop lying to everyone or just fuck off, revenue will increase again.

Would you enter into a contract with these people unless they payed up front?

I think even if the new stadium was in Coventry, people would still find an excuse not to go anyway.

They would stu, but it's all about degrees.

There will be far less people prepared to travel to Rugby than there would to travel to the Ricoh. There is not the slightest doubt whatsoever that if any stadium was built in somewhere like Rugby the crowds would drop significantly.

Where are those posters who now think franchising is positive if it's good for business?

Well you'll find out if we move .
Any way back to the question.

Yes Yes Yes.
I already go now and again will just get a season ticket and go every week.
All them rugby grounds I have never been too.

Agreed.

For me it depends where it is, if it's over in rugby no, if it's just outside the city, then yes I probably would.

Will be interesting to see what those who go to watch wasps say. I'm sure what's good for the goose is certainly not acceptable for the gander

Well Tim thought they would get 6000 at shitfields so maybe it being in Rugby they can do their research based on say 8000-10000:)

Would prefer it to be in Coventry but where would they build it. Matton has already said there's no suitable sites in the city.

Would need to see the exact location but the area covered by RBC covers land very close to the city. If we're talking just over the boundary like Ansty, the airport or Brandon for example then it wouldn't' bother me at all to be honest.

Move us to the Daventry or Lutterworth side and that would be a totally different proposition.

For those that refuse to go if its on the wrong side of an arbitrary boundary what would you do if the boundaries were redrawn, which does happen, and the Ricoh was no longer technically in the city?

Organising a protest against ccfc doing it, I don't think it will happen but would depend where it was.

If anything I would have thought the Coventry boundary would be expanded.

Agree with all that Chief, if a new ground was to be fairly close then whether its technically in Cov wouldn't stop me from going. The main thing that's making me consider not getting another season ticket is that there's been very little entertainment on offer.

More a theoretical question than suggesting it will happen. Point being boundaries get altered yet people are treating them as some sort of unbreachable line.

Well I'm like you, Dave.

I don't have a problem like some with 1 inch outside the boundary. I would have a problem though if it was actually IN Rugby. The way I feel is that the stadium has to be closer to Coventry than to any other town or city.

What about Rugby Town FC? Or don't we care about them?

All hypothetical of course, but I don't have a problem if any new ground was just outside the city borders.

I'd like to hear italia's views on this, I'm sure he will be in full support of the move after backing his new team's move so much.
