For the club, in my opinion NO. For most of the players YES.
Look at the facts, whenever we get a large (for our position) following, the players bottle it and we lose (when was the last victory at home in front of a larger than league standard attendance that we won?). When fans turn up, we always seem to bottle it and loose.
So is our club too big for the league they are in?
For me, I think it's has to be the players mind set.

Without getting players in that are above league 1, are we f·"$%&?

The players we have are either on loan and young (so not used to big crowds, or played at a higher level and not made it (possibly as they bottle it in front of more than 6000 fans)). Is this why we play better away from home, less pressure on them so they show the ability they have.

Should we look for players with less obvious talent and sign players used to lower crowds, so when they play at the Ricoh they rise to the occasion rather that bottling it, or players that are used to big crowds so it does not bother them. Either way things need to change FAST, get the mentality of the players right and I think results will come. Get it wrong and a half full stadium will bore them or scare them as even a half full Ricoh is more than they have ever known and bottled again.

Not sure I have put my message across the right way, but I am sure you all know what I mean (after todays result I have hit the alcoholic type of pain killer).

What we need are players who are not scared of playing in front of a big crowd. I think this could be a great equaliser between our players and the one-off players from other teams who raise there games.

We didn't bottle it though did we. We started of yesterday perfectly fine and if we had scored in that 25 mins or so we would have probably gone on to win the game quite easily.

What we have though is a brtittleness and a soft underbelly. Go a goal down and our heads drop. Don't see how the Ricoh came into that yesterday. We just have the wrong players at this club, that lack the desire, fight, passion and spirit to put things right when we go behind.

Well, you'd probably have Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd, Man City and Villa and Leicester, plus really good crowds against Spurs and Arsenal. That's 8 games with really good crowds.

Bearing in mind that you only have 19 home games in the Premier, I would say that is a very decent return to be honest.

Yes that would be, the issue for me is, because it's that big, because you can always get tickets there is no real premium on wanting to get a ST, just because you might miss out, you know almost inducing panic buying. Look at Norwich, something like 95% of their home tickets are ST's (even in the championship), matchday tickets are at a premium. Look at us in the championship, our first season 21k, still a good 10k spare seats to choose from.

And in football, because of the partisan/tribal nature of football density of the crowd makes a big difference in creating an atmosphere. I think this is one of the reasons we've failed to make the ricoh a fortress. And personally I like the Ricoh.

Blaming the size of the ground for poor performances is shifting the real reason away, we are where we are because of Steve Waggotts recuitment policies and the mass influx of journeman players who individually and collectively are not good enough. Making the ground smaller won't change that.

They are professional sportsman doing a "job" that is the envy of most men in the country, being monetarily rewarded ridiculously well, regardless of crowd size and/or stadium size they should give 100%.

Equally, they are humans with emotions, so running out into a 3/4 empty stadium, when already low on confidence, would be mentally challenging. The issue is, I would not rely on any of our players, bar one or two, when it comes to mental strength and therefore "fighting spirit".

Speaking to a number of opposition players, they actively raise their game when they arrive at the Ricoh, state of the art stadium, modern changing rooms and facilities plus (until this year) a big well kept pitch. When you are used to playing in a shed on a cramped bobbly pitch in front of a thousand or so fans, the Ricoh must look like Wembley.

Still, you cannot blame our stadium for the position we are in.

Capacity crowds for those 5-6 games you refer to justifies the Ricoh's size.

Of course the Ricoh is too big...but that doesn't mean we should play like pussys there week in and week out.

The future of our club is very unclear and a drop to League 2 this coming Sunday for us would certainly make it the poshest stadia of the League.

We had the players ...Baker was easily the best player on the park when MK came to town...Callum Wilson has been highly instrumental in Bournemouths excellent championship campaign....Leon Clarke was banging em in for fun in L1 for us.....this club has self destructed from the top level ...and it is them that is to blame....even if we do survive this Sunday do you really have high hopes for a better season...I really don't...Love Sky Blues....but the fans love em more than the hedge fund tosspots will ever realise..and basically L2 will come before Promotion.
Jo Murphy in the sticks was far more commanding than Burge and Allsop ..(Thanks Bournemouth for that loan)...so we let an experienced Keeper just wander off to Hudds to sit on the bench...no passion....The Ricoh has killed this club as we have to think without Ricoh ..SISU would never have been near us...yes I feel we are actually a dying club.

Hope I'm wrong.... but I can guarantee that 95% of people on this forum will agree L2 is more likely than Championship football regardless of Sundays outcome eventually ...and it makes us sick.

I think we'd fill the stadium for most games. Most Premier League teams would bring 3k away fans, segregation/tickets not available for sale would be like 2k for big games? So that leaves 27,000 home tickets tbf if a club like Hull City can get regular 25,000+ crowds then so could we easily.
