Joe Elliot: Even He Likes Wasps (23 Viewers)

Nobody is moaning, just pointed out how some people who had such strong morals and spines before have suddenly forgotten.

I think he's talking about the same principle. Believing it was OK going to Sixfields while slating anyone who goes to a Wasps game when they probably just want to go and watch the team they support.

Exactly so they are exactly the same as each other.

I agree if everybody who goes is slated and there are people stood outside abusing them, that is disgraceful.

What is wrong with pointing out that people used to slate people who went to sixfields but have now suddenly changed their tune? "Top class rugby".

Team they support? I totally agree though if there are people who have supported Wasps all their lives and can now go and see them easier.

There are also people who believed you shouldn't go to Sixfields, who also believe the support Wasps are getting is sickening. The idea that it is only those who went/thought it was ok to go to Sixfields is a lie.

Isn't really is it?

Especially when it only tends to be the ones who gave it loads about Sixfields who now get a few digs back, but they are all for "people can do what they want" all of a sudden. Here was me thinking it was the people who went to Sixfields who were spineless and selfish :(

Good example is your pal Jan, who in one line said how selfish city fans would be if they watch them outside of the city, just after seeing how great his day out at Wasps was. The same as how it is all about the fans, sports fans and nasty owners. how does it go about wasps? Don't care about their fans or where they came from? Like it :)

The fact people totally miss the point is quite telling. The fact that some people can't notice when they have their own quotes and morals fired back at them is quite funny though.

I wouldn't go to watch Wasps even if I had a free hospitality ticket including free drink and a night with Lisa Vanderpump.

only really sad fuckers will know who she is.

anyway hate Wasps with a passion , they probably did no wrong but they own the stadium built to house my team so I hope they rot in hell

According to last logic this means you thought it was ok to go to Sixfields? Is this true?

So they have to have supported Wasps all their life to be allowed to attend without abuse. Is that the law? I don't know where that leaves me. I wasn't even a football fan until I went to my first Cov game with mates at the age of 21, 21 years ago so I've only been a Coventry fan half my life. Am I still allowed to go to watch Coventry games? You seem to know the law on this you tell me?

I never realised that Coventry had been such a hotbed of Wasps supporters.

The M40 southbound to Wycombe must have been rammed on match days.

No it wasn't right to go to 6fields ,most importantly is , that statement is in my opinion only.
Thanks, point proven.

Read what I said.

If average bill wants to go and watch Wasps then fair play, city fan, man utd fan or anybody. I have no issue if people want to go and watch wasps.

However if they have been on here giving it loads to those who went to Sixfields (ie Buster in this very thread) then why can't they have a bit of it back? If people class their own quotes used back at them as abuse then maybe they should have a word with themselves.

If people are spouting on about city being moved but then going to watch wasps, can you not see the irony? They may as well go and buy a steak from Frankie and Bennies while moaning about people who eat meat. It is even better when they say both things in the same statement.

I don't think there is anybody stood outside Wasps with a big sign saying that if people go in they arent a true city fan is there?

Equally those who defended themselves for going to Sixfields and are now jumping on anyone who goes to Wasp games deserve some back.

Some back for what? Using people's quotes and own thoughts against them when they suddenly change to suit?

Don't get why people are so touchy, they weren't when they were calling people selfish, spineless and bragging about their morals.

At least there are some who do come through it with consistency though.

I think people really struggle with the point.

It's not really the same though is it. Some of the fans that went to sixfields had followed City for decades.

I fail to see what difference that makes. If they went and are now not passing judgment on people going to watch Wasp games fair enough. Their point of principle hasn't changed. But if they went to Sixfields and are now dishing abuse out to people who go to Wasp games they're hypocrites plain and simple. Time scales do not change a principle.

Funny how the ones who are moaning about the wasps the most are the ones who felt it was ok to go to shitfields.

I didn't go to sixfield..... ;)

Funny how the ones moaning most about people going to shitsfields, are happy to go and watch wasps or think it's ok to go and watch wasps.....

See what I did there? :D

Yes I agree to a point (its slightly different but I guess the general point is valid), but who are these people? I don't exactly keep a dossier of people who regularly went to sixfields. Just judging from the forum, I'd say the those who are being the most outspoken against Wasps were also against the move to sixfields, I know I never went to Northampton, I don't think Stupot or chiefdave did, I think Grendel may have gone once? Otis, Astute, The Rev and Ashdown who have also said they won't go to watch Wasps I believe and were also against Sixfields and I don't think ever went. Torch is the only obvious name that springs to mind from here as I believe he went to Sixfields regularly?
(correct me if I'm wrong anyone)

And when you say jumping on people, its mainly confined to a few comments on a forum, not standing outside the stadium shouting and intimidating those who went inside which according to eye witness accounts happened a few times at Northampton.

Those that went to Northampton went to watch a team from Coventry that should have been in Coventry. The vast majority had supported them for many years. Like I said at the time I didn't agree with going but it was more in a protest against SISU and nothing against our club or supporters.

Those going to Watch Wasps in Coventry most probably couldn't even name one player before they were taken away from their own supporters and moved from Coventry. They were very pissed off about their own club being moved 34 miles. Most couldn't or wouldn't go to Northampton. They knew how it felt. But they seem to think it is OK to support Wasps and their owner in what they are doing, including taking over what should be ours.....the Ricoh. That to me is irony 100%.

You mean quotes like "I just want to go and see the team I support" ? Or does that one not count anymore?

I agree with the rest which brings us back to LAST's original statement. There's a few posters on here who have all of a sudden changed their principles. I didn't go into Sixfields and I won't go and watch Wasps. With your judgmental position on posters on here who have been to watch Wasps while having a go at those who went into Sixfields I assume you never went into Sixfields given that you clearly think you're better than them?

Course it is the same most of us have supported the City all our lives.
yet never felt the urge to enter that shithole.
Now hillers are accused trouble makers yet those that went into the ground never said a bad word to anyone???

OK I will.

A few of the demonstrators had a go at people going in. A few people going in had a go at people demonstrating. It wasn't one way traffic. But with everything that went on it was understandable for the occasional skirmish to occur. IIRC it was started by someone that wasn't a regular in the ground or on the hill each time.

You are still missing the point totally aren't you?

If somebody was having a go at people for watching the team they support at Sixfields but then use the same line to go and watch a team they had no link with before they moved then they look a bit silly don't they?

My position about people who go to watch Wasps hasn't changed, fair play to them, I hope they have a great time. I haven't been on here giving anybody who goes to watch Wasps stick have I?

My position is just about people who liked to throw shit about to people who went to Sixfields but now all of a sudden want to go to watch Wasps.

The reality is it is probably hardly any then.
Most people going to watch Wasps are people who play and watch Rugby and don't give a fig about CCFC.
A lot of our fans don't like rugby, that's is why they have been football fans all their lives.
Also I remember a lot of ridiculing of the small numbers on the hill protesting, usually from those who went to SIxfields.
Then there are people like me who said we shouldn't have gone to Sixfields and I believed people should boycott to show they didn't agree with the move. However I did say it was personal choice whether people went or not. In fairness unnecessary comments were going in both direction between certain people who didn't go and some that did.
As for going to Rugby I only missed three Cov RC home games this year, I haven't been to a Wasps game and have no intention of going.

I was interested to read that before our last home game two thirds of the Waps season tickets holders at Adams Park had already renewed for The Ricoh next year. It seems most their fanbase have come round to supporting the move. Also having monitored their forum I am unaware of any protests organised by their fans.

Fair enough, I could have a good guess at who threw the first stone but I won't.

I was more on about the above bit when I said correct me, where I said that those who are outspoken against Wasps were also mostly against the Northampton move. LAST's original statement was false.

There are people on here that protested about our move but say they have seen Wasps play though. Do you say this is right?

I have no issue with people who want to go and watch Wasps. I can understand why a neutral Rugby lover would want to go and watch them. I am not sat about giving everybody abuse for going to watch when I don't know them or their circumstances like people were about Sixfields.

My issue is only with the people who did like to throw the crap about before. A good example is Buster earlier in the thread who was telling people who took their kids to watch CCFC at Sixfields to teach their kids some morals, yet he is a rugby lover so morals go out of the window for that after lecturing others.
