Maybe I'm wrong, I don't have a crystal ball.

But this club is just crying out for someone to grab it by the scruff of the neck and move it forward.

The minute it happens, the fans will be back.

No I think you'll find I said this:

I stand by that, until the last 2-3 games of the season when the bandwagon jumpers would start to attend.

Like I say, no one knows until a few games into next season.

But why can't we run away with the league like Bristol did this season? We'd have thousands of ST's sold IMO.

Whilst I agree to an extent, we were on the verge of play offs and still only getting 10k under robins at the end of the day this is league one, and a lot of cov fans are snobs about being in this league and if they haven't got a ST, they will bemoaning paying £20 to watch Burton, Chesterfield, Fleetwood, etc.

It's funny really, you say if the club show you the business plan you will back it, then totally dismiss it because it's not a 32k capacity ,

We won't because we won't have the financial clout of Bristol who would've spent a fortune on their wage bill and managed to pay 4-5 transfer fees.

I hope we do walk the league, can't see it, but I hope we do. I just don't think everyone's going to come rushing back.

Firstly, they haven't shown anything other than a poxy picture, so not sure what that dig is about.

I agree that many fans are "too good" for this league, but we were never challenging for the play offs were we? We would win 1 or 2, then drop off. I mean a real challenge, grinding out draws/wins. Then when we are superior, beating teams 3 or 4-0.

How did Yeovil get on the other season in league one?

How did Yeovil get on the other season in league one?

They did far better than anyone expected and got promoted via the playoffs. They then were unable to compete in the Championship and finished bottom of the league only winning 8 games. The momentum from that relegation saw them relegated again this season again finishing bottom of the league but this time managing 10 wins. They will play next season at their lowest level since being admitted to the league.

So CCFC will follow the same fate?

By default?

On current structures championship survival would be very unlikely

What makes you think we would be any different? We know we won't be able to achieve a competitive budget in the Championship, exactly the same problem Yeovil had, so what would lead you to believe we would fare differently to them?

No I'm not, but staying at the Ricoh will ensure that's exactly what we are. On a par with the likes of Yeovil.

How exactly?

At present the only option I can see, either under SISU or preferably new owners, is a new ground. As we know we haven't established if this is financially viable. If it is I suspect it will be decades, and probably after I'm six feet under, before we seem the benefit.

The only other possibility is ownership of the Ricoh (or ACL) which seems virtually impossible at the moment. The only way I can see that happening is if Wasps fail.

You've covered every base there.

So building this stadium, and going by the sixfields debacle, let's say we get an average gate of 6,000.

How will this propel us to the top end of the championship? Before we are languishing in league 2?

It won't but that's a figure you've just completely made up so I'm not sure what point there is debating it. I would suggest, from experience of our fanbase, that should we achieve promotion to the Championship there would be more than 6K turning up. Especially if they thought we could mount a serious push for the PL.

I could make any number up. Just like you say we will have more turning up. As we have no details of this new stadium.

As far as i'm concerned, if it's in Cov, then expect high attendances.

Further than the Ricoh, you might as well take off 2,000 fans straight away.

The only way we should build a new ground is inside the city boundary no where else is acceptable to me, so we get a new owner who is prepared to part with millions for a new ground, where ? The only site i know of is the old Courtaulds one off the Foleshill road, can't think of another brown field site big enough and i believe that is earmarked for re-development. So realistically what are we left with probably nothing. So what is the alternative ? With a decent trustworthy owner buying into the Ricoh seems the only option if we are to stay inside our city and have some clout ground wise. Not an impossibility Wasps own 100% of the shares, and as we know shares can be bought and sold We are in a position ground wise we should never be in because of others.

Where did you get 6000 from? Plucked from the air?

All for the revenue of 6,000 punters.

Plus rent and payments TO sisu, to pay for this stadium.

But it's okay, because business people that want to stay at the Ricoh, with it's motorway links and facilities, will choose Stade de SISU in the wilderness to provide the much needed 365 days revenue....

The question should be: Would you be prepared to move if the deal meant CCC and Wasps would do very nicely indeed. The majority on here wouldn't be able to press the YES option quick enough. Sad reading through this thread.

There's certainly an arguement to be made for that. Would depend on how the cost of expansion compares with the cost of building larger initially. Of course if Fisher came out and said he was planning a 30K stadium everyone would say we didn't need it and he was mad.

So not the king of revenue then.

The cost of any extension would depend on when you're planning on building it. For example it will cost more in twenty years time than it will in ten years time so it's a very difficult comparison to make. How longs a piece of string.

It's the king of revenue that the club can directly generate itself. The TV money is based on going up the leagues in the first place.

Finished in the play offs, I.e not runaway leaders like Bristol as you suggest. What happened to Yeovil the following season in the championship?

You put your head banging the wall pic but I have said already in this thread and I have been consistent in general on here that it doesn't take a lot of cash to get out of this league. But automatic promotion/winning the league takes a bit more cash.

Our big problem happens afterwards, when we're struggling to maintain championship status.

Going off topic here but why didn't they just take the offer of £400K per an and then have the event a year or so later with Otium taking over from there
We would have been back to the point where SISU came in and placed to strike the deal they should have at the start

It said in the JR that the £400k offer reverted back to the original £1.3m pa after 2 years. The contract would still have been in place, plus the issue of no revenues.

I still don't understand why ACL didn't accept the CVA. We'd have probably never had of gone to Northampton had that been accepted.

No! Our club is in enough disarray without faffing around for a new home just to make some kind of statement. Establish a good and lasting relationship with wasps, create a stable base with a good manager and progress up the leagues. Time to take a breather!

I think, long term, yes, we can look at a new stadium if things just carry on as they are, but for now the Ricoh is our home and we need to concentrate on getting things right on the pitch.

Who knows what the Ricoh situation will be in 5 years time. Things may well have changed. Coventry City Council's stance may also have changed too. Be crazy to go and build a stadium near Rugby only for us to find out in 4 or 5 years time that land is indeed made available here in Coventry.

We have a deal here. Let's keep all options open, but concentrate on the here and now and the product on the pitch. We get promoted and CCFC will look a much more attractive proposition, should anyone be looking to take us over.

We need a ten year deal at the Ricoh if we are going to build anew and now is the time to negotiate. With the speed SISU are moving at we better put an option in for another ten years while we're at it. :)

Why is now the best time to it? Any new deal will replace the current one, and with wasps new debt commitments it is very likely rent will be significantly higher than the £100k (plus matchday costs) we currently pay and I'd guess we'd get less access to revenues.
