it was nearer the 1.5 million mark than the 2! remember Cardiff brought him for 2.5 million!

Remember he wasn't wanted and Cardiff were keen to get him off their wage bill, 2 1/2 years left on his contract. I'd be surprised if it was a high as £400k, as it would have saved a good £1.25m+ in wages (£10k pw for 2 1/2 years) and I imagine Cardiff pay higher than that.

What was their budget compared to the MK one? And you have told us many times that the player that was voted MK player of the season is crap. He cost them nothing. How many of their players cost anything or were on a big wage for the division?
Clough was allowed to put a squad together that should have got promoted. They should have been up there with Bristol City. He failed. I would guess that they already know who they want to take over. They are a big club to be down where they are. The pressure will be on whoever takes over.

only going off what Utd fan at work told me, he said they had invested over 2 million in january was it on 2 or 3 players cant remember, and Brayford was over half!
obvs he will know more than me as hes a season ticket holder there!

One of maybe but a fair bit behind Sheff UTD and Bristol City. Bristol City finished where their budget suggested they would. Sheff Utd didn't. Just like Sheff Utd are favorites again for next season. And this is without having a manager. They will be expected to have the biggest budget. This gives them the biggest chance.

From what United fans say and what was reported at the time it was at the very least £1.5 million.

Fair enough, but then again we all thought Celtic paid £1.5m for Danny Fox before we found out it was only £700k. If that's what the Sheffield United fans believe so be it, I just can't see a league one side spending £1.5-2m for a fullback.

Yeah on the face of it, it is utterly ridiculous, however Clough was a huge fan of Brayford and moaned during the play-off semis about him being injured and how he was vital to how they wanted to play. So I could imagine Clough asking the board to back him for this particular signing, as he wanted him to play centre half and thus saw him as key to the team.
