Look how consistently empty Villa Park is these days. Their superfans probably think their the only club in the country with "fickle fans" too.

Don't think anybody has labelled themself a superfan or anything have they?

Plus Villa still get an average of 35k or so don't they?

I agree Nick. But surely, as much as we may cajole others on here and outside, the truly determinant factor of getting people to become fans is to make the experience something they want to believe in and enjoy. Most cannot commit to season tickets, which makes it imperative that if they walk up they must walk out feeling the buzz and cant wait for the next game. The biggest way to ensure this comes from what is offered; mostly on the pitch. Don't have to win EVERY game, but must at very least be as competitive as possible. Fans can forgive mistakes, but apathy transfers from the pitch to the stand.

So why do people go out of their way to think up imaginary reasons for people not to go?

There are so many people who have no actual reason, just silly excuses because they can't be bothered. That of course is fine, people can do what they want, just don't be so outraged about investment or signings.

Who's thinking up imaginary reason's for people not to go? What are these imaginary reasons?

I just gave an example of a woman who phoned up the radio and clearly had no passion for Coventry City, didn't support us, went up years ago and just wanted a moan on the radio and it's her dad might have died to stop her going. The other day the reason was just price and if we had £149 season tickets then thousands more would buy them.

I'd say yes a lot of people have commitments, but I'd say a lot also just can't be arsed.

Probably don't have the time as they're too busy labeling everyone else but more than one poster on here feels an air of superiority by being a season ticket holder. They are a minority by a long shot but they're here.

I even had a poster last year try telling me that someone else didn't have the right to an opinion because they were'nt a season ticket holder like us. When I pointed out that I was also not a season ticket holder I also then lost the right to my opinion according to said poster, we even shared the same opinion on what the subject matter was but now I apparently didn't know what I was talking about.

I don't agree with people having to have season tickets, but if somebody hasn't been up for years or only bothers for big occasions then what's the point in them acting like they had been stabbed when we moved to Sixfields? I can understand people who went up with their dad for example every week and now lost the routine of seeing their dad etc and then were happy we came back and now come back.

It's more the people just like to moan that annoy me and don't actually go even if they could.

And what might be the cause of this lack of arsedness?

I don't know really, some of them are then massively arsed about their club when Tim Fisher opens his mouth though.

I can remember since I was little the conversations when you tell people you are a cov fan or have been to a game and they tell you they are a city fan but don't go up because x or y. Even way before SISU were here.

Because it didn't have to happen. SISU only ever tried to move the club, they never tried to find a way for us to stay.

I wouldn't expect anyone who's ever given a fig about CCFC to not be upset by that.

I don't go out of my way to look at foxes but if the hunting ban gets overturned I will be upset. Are you suggesting I don't have that right?

You are not thinking laterally Tony.

If the ban were overturned be an entrepeneur like Italia, buy some land near where the local hunt meets, use it for car parking when the Hunts in town and kerching quids in. It works with Wasps as well apparently ;)

(This is a joke. I also dont want the ban overturned)

That's not quite right. I havent gone out my way to see a fox in over 30years. Assuming Basil Brush counts?

It was similar to when a few were saying that Wasps had done more in the community in four months that CCFC had ever done in their history. Ridiculous, hence my Tunbridge Wells comment. The negativity and general attacking of the club people apparently support is decidedly odd.

I wasn't aiming it at you, it was just an example that some people expect a bit too much. Yes your daughter probably would love the kids parties even just for seeing Santa, colouring in and running around, but the way some go on they expect a limo to pick them up and spoon feed them. Everything is a bit of give and take isn't it?

If somebody doesn't go to games, doesn't really bother with the club but phones up the radio (like the woman I gave as an example who phoned up about us being moved to Northampton but hadn't been since the 60's or 70's and has no idea who even plays for us now) to moan about everything they can just for the sake of it then what's the point? The same when people don't go to the game, don't listen to the game etc yet phone in to have a moan about the owners.
