2nd or Playoff Winners? (3 Viewers)

Just thinking of the season ahead and the possibilities of promotion and for some reason the question entered my head. If we failed to be crowned champions would you prefer 2nd place or winning the playoffs?

I'm thinking winning the playoffs. 2nd place is a bit of an anti climax for me compared to the excitement of getting to Wembley and winning the final. Don't get me wrong, I'd take second place but if I had the choice...

2nd for safety of going up, but if it was a guarantee we would win the final I'd prefer the playoffs!

I genuinely love your confidence; 'If we fail to be crowned champions....'! I'd settle for the first top 6 spot since I was a kid (I'm nearly 59)

Aged 40 and I have never seen a top six finish, I would imagine there aren't many teams in the world who have such a proud record

I'm 61 and like you have to go back to when Noah was a kid to recall anything exciting other than the 87 Cup win.In fact it was Noel Cantwell who got us the top six spot which got us into Europe. If we got top six this season I'd be as happy as a fat kid in a cake shop !

We're still guaranteed to go up right? We're not letting realism about our record in big games get in the way?

Go up via playoffs for me, more of an occasion and who doesn't love Wembley?

I actually think i would cry if we won something and promotion would get me close, with this current squad Mowbray would deserve the freedom of the city if he got us up.

Dont know I haven't been since 1988 and won't go until we get there, I would imagine the ticket office would explode with all the people wanting tickets.

I honestly reckon expectation is high as I keep seeing lads wearing the new home shirt and hearing positive vibes all over the place. I'm a hard bitten long suffering City fan so I'm keeping it calm and with a wait and see attitude !

I actually saw someone other than me wearing a Cov top in Rugby last weekend and it was the new one, he was half my age too.

Since I read this about Noah it hasn't stopped raining.

Also re: the cake shop; with my luck I'd be on the wrong side of the counter.

If we were guaranteed promotion and it was a choice between 2nd or play offs, I'd pick the Wembley trip. It's a bit of rubbish dilemma really as 2nd guarantees promotion, the play offs don't.

Changing it slightly which do you think sisu would prefer 2nd or a loss in the play off final?

2nd of course, as it alleviate any more stress at getting through the playoffs, and besides we will have been to Wembley winning the JPT

From a business point of view promotion would be worth the most financially. Of course ideally from that standpoint it would be promotion via the playoffs. Money from a sold out play off semi and I presume a share of the final would add to pot.

City vs Sheffield United/Milwall play off final, attendance 90k possibly? 40k Cov and you'd think both of them could get 40k too

2nd over play offs every time, but being realistic i'd be happy finishing anywhere in the top half.

Also attendances would rise if we were around the top two for a while, were as we could be tenth and sneak into the play offs so a mad scramble.

If if we went up expectancy would rise from the fans but would Sisu's

What would you do if we only had to draw our last home game to win the league and the presentation of the cup was to be made. However Joy and Ann Lucas were both insisting on a £20 bribe each before they let you buy a ticket? Oh, and you had to wear a skirt for the game.

Would you:

a) Pay the money and wear the skirt
b) Pay only one of them (which one?) and bribe them more to alter the records so it looked like you'd paid the other. An wear the skirt
c) You always wear a skirt to home games anyway.
d) Refuse to pay.

And we're guaranteed to win the game. And you might get a job as a glamour model if you go.

Dare to dream guys but come on, top half finish has to be our aim. Mowbray said himself he needs 2 years + to turn the tide.

Would a Kilt count as a skirt?

I imagine most teams fans are having the same chats but not many of the dreams will come true.
