Yes I am - do you know how the term "last stand" was invented and by who?

Go on you tell us?
How is your Greek history?

It was a term imbedded in folklore by Elizabeth Bacon Custer who lived until she was 90 and created a huge myth around a rather hideous man who shot his own people, encouraged the slaughter his own people, Indian women and children as well as rape and beatings to said women and children.

There had been a few battles before 1870ish !!

Goes back before then - the battle of Thermopylae

The Custer one is typical American hype

@ CCFC..... Where do you condone what SISU are/have been doing.... Let me see now! How about giving them money which hasn't been put back into the Football Club for starters. SISU said Coventry City FC. are self sufficient? What's happened to the money from Wilson and Clarke sales then? Certainly not been put back into the Football Club has it! The norm over the last 7 years have been, Sell a good player for (Hypothetical price of say £1m) Club given nothing to BUY another player. OR sell a player on 6k pw and bring in 5 (Shit ones) on 1k pw each saving 52k pa Where does that 52k go? Caymen Is perhaps? Would it make any difference if we filled the Ricoh every fortnight? Would it f**k! the money wouldn't go back into the Club... Caymen Is perhaps? It's fools and their money are soon parted. Does the cap fit by any chance?....... Grenduffy... Still waiting for that Micheal Doyle wage claim link.

Perhaps you should ask OSB to show you where in the Audited Accounts monies have passed OUT of CCFC into SISU
Doyle spent last season on loan at Leeds, where he was classed as not good enough for League One by some United supporters (Where, according to 'soccerbase', he played 52 times, and failed to score - though he did pick up ten yellow cards!), and obviously was rated as not good enough for the Championship by Simon Grayson too, who opted not to take him to Elland Road when they gained promotion.
Doyle, according to reports, left for no fee, and the rumoured £8,000+ weekly salary the club will be saving will hopefully go towards bringing in somebody more likely to help push the club into the top half of the table.

For instance, under the terms of the season-long deal that brought Michael Doyle to Elland Road from Coventry City, United agreed to pay half of the midfielder’s £10,000-per-week wage with his parent club picking up the rest.

My money goes towards paying the wages of players and running of the football club. The 8,000 fans still going are the lifeblood of the club, without them we'd have no club.

Yes it would make a massive difference if we filled the Ricoh.

Not this bollocks again, OSB has been through the accounts many times and SISU have taken no money out of the club, accrued interest yes, but physically taken money out. No. The asset stripping like is a myth, the money for Clarke and Wilson went into funding the operating costs/covering losses of the club. Running a football club is expensive business and we've been losing £6-7m per annum for the last decade. Management costs are also a red herring, it's been explained its the movement of cash between the group of companies that are CCFC.

Many thanks to you oldfiver.......... No wonder Grenduffy wouldn't get back to me with the link to Doyles wage.... He said Doyle was on FIFTEEN THOUSAND(15k) pw Yet another "Estimated fact" eh Grenduffy?

To avoid breaking football league's spending rules.

It only gets worse and worse, I remember a similar story when we first moved to the ricoh where i think we required 21 000 to avoid making a weekly loss.

Seems Waggot's call on fans may be for survival not investment
Been down the club shop in Tesco's twice today and both times queues of fans buying tickets for Wigan game.
Not saying for season tickets but they reckon it'll be a decent turn out tomorrow.

There was an an article in the CET in 2007 where the accounts showed that the highest paid CCFC player was on £15,000 a week. It's been discussed numerous times on here.

The general assumption was that it was Michael Doyle.

His next contract was on a lower salary - clearly a measly £10 000 a week.

Surely we don't need 11k at every game if we need an 11k average. The headline makes it sounds way less achievable than it is. Typical Telegraph exaggeration.

It would help if it was easier getting to the ground. The train station being late and then apparently having one train per hour (?) is ridiculous. Taking it further, I realise that the Council are not our friends but subsidised buses and trains (completely free for under 16 maybe?) would also help. Anything to get people off their arses and up to the Ricoh.

Not really, no.

Not sure why £300k of CCFC investment in arena was written off either.

CCFC invested 1.7m altogether IIRC. For this we were given the 50% of ACL. This was held as security for the 6m we received from Higgs. So our club made over 4m profit. The only problem is that because of the SISU idea of negotiating it cost us our home

Do you honestly think that people keep away because of the train or bus situation? It might be used by some as an excuse. To me it isn't much of an excuse. How many disabled/infirm/elderly would use the services? The rest have plenty of options on getting there if they wanted to.

Northampton was a totally different situation, what was the point in getting them back from Northampton if you still don't go?

Its apparent NOPM is a fruitless attempt, it won't make SISU leave. Its just a simple excuse for the deserters to trot out.

If you want them to leave they need to have something worth selling, for that they need supporters.

like others was kind of hoping for them to change the fiasco over the RICOH proved different they got worse

This was quite public at the time wasn't it? Directors buying players and having a share of the returns. I could be wrong I may have heard a out it since but I'm sure it was common knowledge. I'm sure Whelan was one of those signings.

I've heard different about Keane though. I heard that his signing was funded all along by Inter and he wasn't our player really. A bit outlandish but when it comes to what Richardson would do to get a player in and how Keane was signed without Strachan knowledge it's a possibility.

Yes it was common knowledge.
I remember a Leamington businessman giving £100,000 for a percentage in Paul Telfers transfer.
He was expected to be sold on for a profit giving everyone who had a share a profit.☺

that scheme was introduced by Bryan Richardson it is called the Newmarket system used in horse racing,it's okay but cost us Robbie Keane too early once Milan offered £13 million the investors cashed in

No he was the highest paid player - see below;

http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sport/football/football-news/michael-doyle-exit-frees-up-3077825

And there is an article that somewhere stated the highest paid was £15k a week. Given we has Stern John, Ward etc at the time those players would easily have commanded £10k plus salaries

While searching for that I found this -- looks like the Manhattan Group turned and fled once the outrageous price demands from Higgs and the council came to light

CCFC invested £6.8m according to the timeline on the a trust site and sold the investment for £6.5m to the 'charity'

Would you like to show us then?

Certainly a mistake has been made or someone is pushing the truth to the limit. This is going back a couple of years when some people tried to say that CCFC bought the land or paid for the decontamination. So I posted up the official costs and who paid what...a few times. It was somewhere near 1.7m.

Or is it just another attempt to make CCC look worse than SISU yet again?

Sorry mate I know 4 people who don't go anymore since they stopped the direct bus from town, , for an old fella to get from tile hill on a night game , is just so hard, the point is both ccfc and the council should be taking the excusses away for not going not providing ready made ones

Page 16. CCFC put 1,758,000 towards the cost. And this wasn't guesswork as stated several times in the one you posted. This was more or less a legal document that couldn't be put as false.
You'd best tell the Trust their timeline's wrong, and that they've quoted from the accounts wrongly.

You asked him where he got it from, I pointed out Google is an easy friend. Now get on with your :slap:

Evidence isn't enough for some unless you are making excuses for SISU or blaming CCC as much as you can. And on the occasions where you have the proof to show they are wrong they either go quiet or only post on other threads.

Do you mean where they kept saying "but unclear if this relates only to Highfield Rd."?

Richardson sold HR then we rented it back whilst the Ricoh was built. It may have cost our club to rent it back, but it wasn't what we paid towards building the Ricoh. Richardson shouldn't have sold HR until we didn't need it. But we all know why he did.

PS:
In the event of Leeds winning promotion, however, it was agreed the Yorkshire club would immediately cover the cost of Coventry’s contribution – meaning they were hit with a bill of more than £250,000 within days of the 2009-10 season ending. Shame :)

We agreed to pay £5k a week for a player who wasn't even playing for us? No wonder the money didn't take long to run out.

Where am I quiet? The CET said he was the highest paid player and in the accounts of 2007 said the highest paid was on £15,000 a week - have you even bothered to read his original post or are you unable to see above the xxxxxxxxl shirts that were the only ones stolen?

We paid more than that when lee Hughes was sold back to West Brom
