Maddison out for a few months (7 Viewers)

Not the end of the world, especially if we do bring in another striker. In the mean time, I agree with everyone else, move Lamieras over and play Murphy out wide. Swanson can move up to the bench in the mean time.

Not that I think he's ready, but where does Thomas play? I haven't seen him, but got the impression he was a number 10 as well.

I think he is meant to be a striker, always tends to play left midfield though when he comes on for us.

There is the option to change to 4-4-2 with Tudgay replacing Maddison, JOB and Murphy / Lameiras on wings but that doesn't have the 2 sitting central players

Losing the goal scorer would be a far greater blow.

I think he is the most creative in the squad and without him we are weaker going forward or with the ball, he is a very gifted player who drags and commits players to do what they don't want to do.. That is the quality that makes a big difference in this league and now instead of watching 3 very gifted footballers the opposition are now watching one less,, as remarked it changes the balance of the attack and not so worrying for a unit to handle..

On the other hand you maybe right,,, but time will tell next few games we will see how much we miss or don't miss a player of his ability,, without doubt it makes the 11 weaker...

What a retarded thing to say.

No we'd defiantly have beaten Wigan - his contribution prior to be being two goals up was negligabke. Millwall were a car crash defensively and were opened up in the first half every time we attacked. If we need one specific player to unlock Crewe there are problems ahead.

One thing Madisson does nothing for is the defence and the biggest concern is once again in the last two games we are leaking goals.

He played six minutes against Walsall and we conceded two. Played the majority against Millwall and Wigan and we conceded 0.

I'm not saying he's irreplaceable, you're just making out that he has nothing to do with our good start for some reason.

We played Crewe too?

So is your issue with a thread about Maddison being injured, because I assure you there would also be a couple of threads about every one of those players. But guess what, it's not any of those players that are injured so talking about if they would be missed more or not is totally pointless. This is about Maddison and he will be missed.

I think his contribution has been overated and he flatters to deceive.

Before the hysterical screechy brigade commence I am not saying it's unfortunate he is injured. However, I think we will cope

I don't believe anyone is denying this.

However, in a small squad, he will be missed.

We will see how well Murphy etc will do when they come in.

I've said the squad needs more players.

His position is one that can be covered.

Others can't. We probably will change formation in his absence.

That's a big blow. I'd have thought Lameires would be the most obviously choice to play in that role, with Murphy on the wing. Shows the lack of depth as there's not much left on the bench.

Strangely you missed out the Crewe game which ironically was his most effective

He contributes nothing defensively and to attribute or not clean sheets is laughable.

If Lameires is put in Maddison's role, I believe he will be an ideal replacement.

I wonder if TM will put Armstrong on the wing with Tudgay up top? Or replace Maddison with Murphy.

Monday will be an interesting game that's for sure. Another positive is, we have 9 days between Walsall and Southend to recover from knocks etc.

Hopefully he won't put Armstrong on the wing, would be pointless I think.

I think he's effective on the wing. I think Tudgay will start as the forward Lameries behind him and Armstrong wide. Worked well against Wigan

Its easy to say RL plays in his position or Fleck can move forwards or backwards and murphy can slot in.... The proof is for all to see, JM was the best at what he was doing in the squad hence why he played.... TM has a job on now to find someone or something that can replicate the teams start with JM out... I don't think he can, with the players at hand,, which will means a new system,, different shape and one that may take time to get too..

The one light from this is it shows us all and hopefully the board that this squad needs help,, needs depth and needs different sorts of players to compete,, as injuries and suspension will play a part this season in every team..

Armstrong

(Murphy/JOB/Lameires) Fleck Vincelot (Lameires/JOB/Murphy)

I suppose we don't need to change too much, as long as JOB is fit I guess? :)

He was practically a winger in that game.

Also, when he signed, I believe he was described as a winger IIRC?

Also TM, said he was his kind of forward?

I'd much rather him and Tudgay up top. Tudgay is an intelligent player so could maybe set a few up and put Armstrong through who seems to be quite calm in one on ones and could do the work in the air!

It would work with Tudgay and Armstrong up top, like you say, Tudgay playing him in. It would then depend on what the midfield can supply though.

Thinking about it, that leaves JOB out.

We could potentially just have JOB one side, Lamieres the other and they keep swapping like they usually do. They can still bomb on but we would have Tudgay and Armstrong up front.

This wont be the last injury we suffer this season. Unless it is supplemented the squad is way too thin to support a promotion push. There are too many key players with no adequate substitute.

Seriously people. On minute it's booking Championship season tickets then the next jumping in front of a train because 1 player is injured. Surely if our situation was that fragile we could never consider ourselves candidates for success. Have faith in the manager

Fucking hell, I have never read such drivel, well apart from your previous comments on this post. Are you watching a different game to the rest of us? To say Maddison his contributions negligible, what utter crap.

You must be a very lonely individual, one that craves attention, because I can see no other reason for you pathetic comments. Maddison has been a joy to watch, makes the team tick and is a natural, gifted player. With him we won three on the trot. Without him, we lost. How is that a stat for you?

I haven't posted on here for ages, but reading your drivel incensed me.

To think I had previously agreed with some of your comments embarrasses me.

Why is everyone suddenly losing it? I thought it had already been decided we were way too good for this division again.

If we were that good we wouldn't mind if a player gets injured.

That's what good teams are; if a player gets injured there's an adequate replacement.

We will be fine.

I would bring Tudgay in as a number ten or stick him up top and have him dropping deep to allow Armstrong, Lameiras and job to attack beyond him. massive blow but I expected Tudgay to start the season in this position and have maddison learn from him so now that comes into play. Mowbray himself said Jm could learn as much sat on the bench.

Maddison's injury is a big blow, but we still have options. Lameiras is a very similar player. We have Murphy , Tudgay and Swanson who can come in. Connor Thomas could come in and you could push Vincelot forward. We have the option of Morris.

You don't get through a season without injury and players having dips in form. So the recent starting eleven had been doing well but were never going to be just it for the season.

I also understand the transfer window is still open. So depending on who comes in could change the preferred formation again.

Far too early for doom and gloom. It is going to be a challenging season, but hey that is what makes football.

Obviously its not good news him being out but lets face it he's had a couple of good games and wasn't expected to play every game this season. Not sure we can expect the wheels to completely fall off just because he's out for several months.

Time now for someone else to step up. I'm sure if the personnel left don't work with the system we have been playing so far TM will change it. He seems more willing to change things than some of the recent managers we've had.
