Thanks Armybike. So, if correct that is back in January, 8 months ago. I wonder what Mr Fisher has been up to behind the scenes.

Fisher has comment via Cov Telegraph etc since this date, but quite sure this was the last release via CCFC website. I'm quite sure the meeting Rugby Borough Council wasn't on the site, but happy to be corrected.

The same false argument is trotted out multiple times every day. You know – anyone who opposed Sixfields is a total hypocrite if they don’t take a moral stand against Wasps. Or if you can live with the Wasps move you’re “by definition” in favour of franchises and you’d have to support CCFC moving out of Coventry.

Yet the same people would be quite happy for Wasps to go back to High Wycombe, seemingly content with making their move out of London permanent. Or they suggest that they should go to Upton Park in the East End - no doubt with the welfare of the supporters in Buckinghamshire in mind.

We all know that the Sky Blues absolutely represent Coventry, and simply have to play in the city. But the reality for at least a decade has been that Wasps haven’t represented any particular place, which explains why opposition to the move was so feeble. Different circumstances, totally different sport, and completely different attitudes amongst the people who follow it. It’s noticeable how some of our anti-franchise warriors like to show their solidarity for the poor mistreated Wasps fans by taking the piss out of them and their sport.

Wimbledon should never have moved to Milton Keynes. Notts County couldn’t legitimately go and base themselves in Birmingham. If Bedford Rugby Club had tried to move to the Ricoh it would have cause uproar in their town and nobody in Coventry would have condoned or supported the move. But Wasps is a unique case, and I think it’s utterly pointless arguing against what they have brought to this area.

I wish from the bottom of my heart that SISU had bought into the Ricoh from the start, and used it as a vehicle to drive CCFC back to the top. The terms for doing so (favourable or not) were in place when they decided to take over. I was baffled when they kept deferring it because I didn’t want us to be mere tenants paying rent. But they messed up big-time, and now I just hope that somebody somewhere has the vision to bring the two clubs and the stadium together. Building another stadium isn’t a good plan, and nor is distancing ourselves from Wasps.

I'm afraid the worn out line that Wasps aren't from London is utter bullshit trotted out to pretend that this isn't somehow a franchise. I can live with people supporting Wasps, if that's what they want to do and they can live with themselves doing it. What I can't tolerate is this sort of rubbish being used to justify that behaviour.

Even their owner accepted when he bought them that they were a West London club, and to date the RFU have insisted they keep their academy there. The only reason they're at the Ricoh is because it makes more money for the owners.

Anything else is an abject pretence, and as boring as getting into this row again is, it should be challenged every time it's trotted out. 'Nomads' my arse, basically.

In time the frustration of Wasps jumping in while CCFC/SISU tried to put ACL/Ricoh into administration will dwindle.
Can't dispute that they were a London club but that too will go as they continue to stamp themselves on the midlands community.
The renaming of the Ricoh (Informed guess - Land Rover Stadium) and continued customer focusing will set them in stone within the next 10 years.

Not good to hear I know but my real worry is for my football club.
I don't expect CCFC to be given a chance of renewal in 2 years (another informed guess).
Wasps will let them get on with it and continued talk of a new stadium and Wasps being dragged into JR2 will play into Wasps hands when they get really annoyed with it all.

We are finished I'm afraid and Sisu will just walk away after the legal battles are exhausted and say Wasps and CCC caused it.

They are a buisness, not dissimilar to SISU. If it makes them money we will stay.

The idea that they will kick us out becuase they would be 'annoyed' smacks of unprofessionalism. I think they are more professional than that. I suspect these hard nosed buisnessman wont let annoyance sway their decision, it is all about the money.

But then there is the tiny chance of JR2 showing Wasps and CCC up, who would have caused it then? Surely Wasps and CCC?

If that tiny chance came to fruition then CCC and Wasps would appeal.

I also think they realise they need the citizens of Coventry onboard with their venture and by 'kicking us out' they would pee off quite a large chunk of the population of this city. May not be many go to City games, but when we won the cup over 200,000 turned out to watch the club parade the cup round the city centre.

Wasps need to build bridges not burn them. That's not to say they won't squeeze us for more money, mind.

And of course SISU will use their legendary, and super successful deal making skills, which Wasps will really appreciate ;)

Well if that were the case, at least at some point after we would have a final binding decision, with someone eventually being the victor.... not us the fans though.

Its this that worries me Otis.

Wasps owners are not too dissimilar to SISU, they wnat to maximise profits, which means whilst they need us and our cash to help pay some of the money to their bondholders, they may well want to squeeze a little more.

Are Wasps asset strippers? :p

It's how you present it though. The prevelant discourse at the moment is if SISU bog off, it'll be their choice and the nice cuddly Wasps will have done everything possible to stop them.

Frankly, it'd be pretty daft of them not to try for as much cash as possible. We're direct rivals for support now, and it's not in their interest to give us a free pass.

We're not at the moment given that we can't play home games on the same day. If we moved to our own stadium that would of course change and we'd be direct competition. This might yet be our best bargaining chip in any negotiations.

It's not about playing on the same day, it's about people with a finite amount of cash, and a finite amount of days let out to escape the wife.

Interesting negotiating strategy...

In italias ideal world all CCFC revenue would go into Wasps accounts so dirty SISU don't get hold of it and we'd sign up to a 1.5 million a year rental deal for the next 100 years with no access to revenue. We would change all the seats to black and gold and rebrand our home kit to match.

Fair point but you do get people like Italia who currently has a season ticket for both and you can guarantee he's not the only one who would have a choice to make. Might hit wasps in the pocket thrice if they get no rent of us, lose a share of the F&B from CCFC match days and lose season ticket holders. You then also get a knock on effect to the casino for instance who are going to lose out on match day income so they'll also have a remaining tenant not happy about us going.

We might just be in a better bargaining position than some realise.

I'll grant you the casino and keeping a current tenant happy. Not so sure about the BiB, as isn't that what the interminable arguments are about all the time? ;) i.e. commercial pressures say both CCFC and Wasps will want as much of that as possible - any compromise won't be ideal for either side, both sides would want more and that will lead to tension.

We're back to why things blew up in the first place. If CCFC see someone else making money from their successes they won't be happy whilst, of course, if Wasps feel they're subsidising CCFC success (and thus see CCFC crowds grow at Wasps' expense) they won't be happy. As Wasps need to embed themselves there's certainly an argument to be made that us winning games and being successful would be the worst thing possible. Best to distress us an all that ;)

Would be surprised if there were many like Italia btw. Of course there'll be some, but I doubt it's that many who can financially or socially afford to do both every week. I'd suspect it's more likely the floating fans on a game by game basis are the ones fought over, and that's where success for either side is probably bad for the other. If Wasps do become embedded then the rules probably change, and defined identities and boundaries would see co-operation useful. Now however... if it were me I'd be being ruthless. Free tickets after all affect us, an the whole point is to try and convert fans to go regularly (it's a perfectly sane idea). Likewise, disenchanted CCFC fans turned would be to Wasps' advantage.

I've always said that it is beneficial for Wasps to give us the incremental profits from the incomes generated on our match days.
They would get the economies of scale and the rent.
I'va always said that Wasps would let us customise parts of the stadium if we were worked with them instead of against them.

I'm now saying it's too late, they are all but established financially and another couple of years they will become one of the richest rugby clubs in the world. They don't want the negativity of SISU as they drag CCC/Wasps through the courts. It effects investment and customer experience.

I take your point NW. What I would say is that I don't mind the club paying more if they're getting more in return. It's up to TF I guess and his negotiation skills and that's the worry all on it's own. I can't help but feel that TM's backroom staff might be more successful. Which begs the question what are TF and SW for but that's a different debate.

I think we need those FOI requests and appeals to see what the Wasps purchase deal was ;) That is relevant however, as part of the reason we ended up on a stupid rent deal in the first place was because ACL were constrained by commercial pressures in what they could and couldn't do. Similar will apply now... although a new team on the block leads to a whole new era of complexity!

All this is tripe but keep peddling it so that when your new best friends turf the club out you have your excuses ready to hand.

You really believe all the crap Eastwood and co spout don't you?

"Incremental profits" sounds like politician bollocks speak.

It's not too late, and it won't be too late in 2 years time.

If Wasps were to boot the club out or raise the rent so that it wasn't financially viable for the club to stay do you think the general population of Coventry would be particularly bothered?

The blame game for current predicament CCFC find themselves in could be discussed until the cows come home and people would still stick to their opinions on that, but within all the mud slinging I think Sisu have become the pantomime villain and people might think they've called bluff so many times that they've brought it upon themselves.

Grendel the new mystic meg he has seen into the future, turfing the club out would nearly be as big a PR disaster as when SISU chose to go to Northampton, who knows what will happen but one thing is for certain Grendel will continue his anti WASPs crusade for the evil that they have done to CCFC.

The club isn't sisu.

Wasps shouldn't be here. People from Coventry accepting them as they have has been in droves will be far more to blame than the clubs owners.

Italia and his type will be far more culpable than Joy Seppella for the shameful way they have accepted franchising as a principal in sport.

Yes, most certainly. We date back over 120 years and have always been the biggest sporting club in the city and with a local pedigree.

I think if we were kicked out with nowhere to go, people would indeed be bothered.

The Club asked for a 1yr extension, which Is a bit odd.
How did that go?
May have been or should be discussed at the next SCG.
