Welcome back, where were you when we we good the last few games?
Exactly the same place when we almost snatched defeat from the jaws of victory(Swindon) and the fabulous comeback against Posh. Then there was the poor dislays against Blackpool. The "Squeaky bum time" result against Barnsley who were dead and buried but came back and could have snatched a draw. I been sat reading posts and comments from both positive and negative sides and feel that we have got a decent squad that Mowbray has brought in, but....we are just not consistent enough atm. The team put out by Mowbray should have been far too good for Northampton.Too many young Academy kids given "Pro Contracts" that weren't ready but played regularly making up numbers, and when/if the Loanees go back to their mother clubs, we will struggle big time. Those 4 points we "Won" in October should definately have been 12 points... 12 points that could eventually be the difference between promotion or relegation........ @ summerisle... I'll lend you my glasses if you like,(Read my post from 6 months ago) My suits were auctioned off with the proceeds going to the family of the young soldier who drowned in York 6 months ago. A lovely young lad who was in my son's unit. So to finish. Just because I make the rare post now and again, doesn't mean I've gone. It just means I'll pick and choose my post from now on.

You said Jennings was a great player?

Should have been shot for that!

My eldest lad said he did all the donkey work that never got noticed by most supporters. He was right and we were worse off without him.

That team would not keep you in the championship not a chance in my opinion !

Everyone saying about reda Johnson do people think he would be stand out in the championship I don't ... A lot of strikers will have a field day against him and Martin in that league .

A few also missing the point saying we had 9 missing that includes loan players who no doubt could cut it in the league above.. I'm asking about our contracted players

Sorry, you're right I didn't realise you mentioned championship in your original post. The team I posted would likely get destroyed in the championship.

I was responding to last who is just saying that are contracted players are shit, full stop. Which I disagree with.

We did win 12 points in October

-------RCC
Ricketts--Martin--Reda--Stokes
-----Vincelot--Fleck
-Lameiras--Maddison--JOB
----------Tudgay

Looks pretty strong to me, the only player missing from that line up who walks into that team is Armstrong.
I think only vincelot, lameiras , maddison and martin are only ones not out of contract at end of season?

@ CCFC..... I stand corrected, I should have said 9 points... Blackpool(Should have buried them) Rochdale(Arma had a load of one on ones as did Cole but didn't score) Swindon(Need I say anymore???)

Blackpool had their whole team behind the ball for the whole game. There's was no way we were going to bury them that night. I thought your live feed would have made that obvious.

Edit: We were at Swindon and I give you we were poor. However, to play poor and get a point at Swindon is still pretty good going. Once again it was defence mistakes and an awful penalty giveaway from Phillips that ruined the day.

Nice to see you back after a defeat. Coincidence, I'm sure.

Remained unbeaten though, a point away at Rochdale is decent enough. Blackpool was disappointing and the manner of the Swindon result was disappointing. These results happen over a season, just the way it goes, we turned around what was a certain defeat in the Peterborough match and gained 3 points from what looked like 0.

It makes me laugh about how much times have changed. We are unbeaten in the league since September. We are now in the second week of November. 8 league games undefeated. Moved up to 1 point off first place. So some try to pick faults with the draws and even a win where we came from 2-0 behind.

Will we ever lose the moaning mentality?

Firstly(If it's me you're talking about) I agree about being unbeaten(Long may it continue) I also said, our comeback at Posh was brilliant. My main point however, was the way in which we threw away at least 6 one on ones at Rochdale...Threw away the win at Swindon, and as for Blackpool, the second half being very even, and one which Blackpool could have sewn up late on, we couldn't capitalize on good scoring chances ourselves. All I'm saying is those 9 thrown away points in October would have put us 8 points clear at the top that's all ;)

Come end of the season, we will only have 6 senior players on the books:

Burge
Haynes
Vincelot
Lameiras
Stevenson
Maddison

Which is even less than we started with this pre-season. That for me is the biggest worry.

How does that compare to other clubs? A lot of lower league clubs seem to rely on loans and 1 year contracts.

In an ideal world everyone good would be on long term contract and everyone shit wouldn't. But that's the problem isn't it. You don't know who will be good and if you give out long term contracts you end up stuck with a player you don't want but can't move.

If you have been reading lately you will see that there is a fair few saying it. There are some concentrating on the few negatives and not on the positives. And just about all of these were predicting a mid table finish or lower. I am sure that all of us would have settled for 1 point off the top and an 8 game unbeaten run at this time of the season.

All clubs will be a bit worried about playing us. But we have supporters that are worried about whoever we are playing. They need to mellow out and enjoy the season. It looks like we will do better than the vast majority predicted. And we are not far from safety after just 16 games.

Would you like all of our players to be on longer contracts if we manage to get promoted? I wouldn't. It will be another blank canvas for TM to build from again.

No agreed, I wouldn't either. But I'd like to see fresh 1 year deals given out mid-season to players performing well so that we don’t run the risk of losing them at the end of the season for nothing. We did this with Fleck last year but historically not something we’ve been particularly proactive with, IMO.

If you are being guided by that article in the CT a few weeks ago about contracts then it's incorrect. I follow the 18's and 21's and know that George Thomas signed a 2 year contract this summer and Cian Harries signed a 3 year deal, therefore is contracted to the club the longest along with Madders

When I went to the U21's game against Colchester, Arsenal had someone there watching Harries

Really? Tranmere certainly weren't.

I find it a complement that you have to bring up a player that has not been mentioned on here for ages to try and discredit me :p I must have had said something against one of your buddies on here.

My lad said he is a decent defensive midfielder. When we were playing attacking forward he was a good link between defence and midfield. He rarely goes past the halfway line. But we ended up playing fully defensively so he had no way of getting the ball forward to more attack minded players. Any player that plays in a certain way is only as good as the method used.

Have you got anything else I have said in the past that you would like to discredit me on? Just shows I am right more often than yourself ;)

So what if they are predicting mid table or lower?
come on how disappointed will we all be if we do not get at least a playoff place?
So better to aim a bit lower and then feel the love when we are promoted.
You get nothing in this game for aiming high, I know that I believe we will be top every season yet never have......
So reverse psychology tells me to aim for mid table and we may get to the promised land.......

So what if they are predicting mid table or lower?
.......

Who can really predict anything when you have changes in personnel, injuries, international call-ups, missed-penalties, erratic referees, plus the opposition who are a complete unknown quantity. Before the season began, I doubt whether anyone could predict half of our starting line up for the final game of the season. We are doing great right now but it can all change so quickly. I predicted mid-table at the start of the season (before we got Armstrong), now I'm predicting the play-offs but that depends on whether we can keep Armstrong or find an equivalent replacement.

It isn't just the point of predicting mid table or lower. It is the complaining of the results we have been getting that have put us 1 point off the top when they expected much less.

We are doing well in the league. That shouldn't be anything to complain about. We have been picking up a lot of draws. But all the points add up at the end of the season.

Why shouldn't we moan I want to win every game no matter how irrelevant some believe they are.
I still believe we will come 2nd☺
