Superb little stadium, if our stadium happens I hope they put proper thought into the design rather than churning out the same old modern day bowl.

Not sure if you can see from the pictures but the concourse was above the stands so you could walk the whole radius of the stadium and still see the pitch.. bloody brilliant if you wanted a wander with a beer..
If it is the butts...wouldn't it be a good time to put pressure on the council to help,surely developing the butts would benefit us and cov rugby..about time they did something to benefit sports clubs in their own city..or is it just rugby clubs from London they like to help..can feel a demo March to the council house coming on

What if we're already re-established ourselves in the championship (that could start as early as next season) and we get back upto the 20K we were once experiencing in the championship? What if the unthinkable happened, we made the playoffs and went up to the premier league just in time to move to our 12k stadium?
Wondered why they opened a ticket office there...im sure they pointed it out to the football league when they showed them round

No I meant if the stadium was planned to be easily upgradeable. Which it should be.
Surely in the time it was being built they would just change it at the time of the build instead of building it as 12k and then upgrading? They would have a plan to make it x amount if we got promoted at the time of the build.

Can I just challenge this Otis, politely.
We got into this awful place by building a stadium that was far, far bigger than our needs - surely we don't want to risk our future on another gamble.
At the moment we're in League 1, and I see no guarantee that in two years we'll be in the Championship. Even if we do make it there, I also don't think it's safe to presume that we'll be staying there. We'll be competing against far richer teams, and we'll be even more restricted by FFP in the Championship than we are in L1 assuming we're still at the Ricoh.
Even if we did survive (and I'm not saying for a moment that moving to the Butts will happen), I can't see how getting (say) 20,000 at the Ricoh on a rental deal in the Championship would be any better than getting 15,000 in our own stadium in the Championship at the Butts.
Maybe I'm wrong mate, I'm not pretending to know everything - but personally I'd jump at the chance of a stadium in the centre of town we could call home, even if it was only for 15,000. Maybe we could rent the Ricoh for the occasional cup tie against Man U or something. Wasps will need someone other than Leicester RFC and Springsteen who can fill the place occasionally.

This thread is hilarious. An unconfirmed report of a new ground and the usual suspects all appear to start shitting all over it before we have any details.
Suddenly we desperately need 30K plus for all those sold out games we have and a massive exhibition hall like the Ricoh.
I love the idea, a city centre 15K ground easily and quickly expandable up to 20-25K would be absolutely ideal.
Don't buy the infrastructure or parking arguments. Plenty of grounds in similar situations to any ground at the Butts. Its walkable from the train station and town where pretty much every bus service goes.
Remember at the Ricoh car park C is only temporary and earmarked for development. That would mean parking there is for around 1K cars. Pretty sure less people would drive to a city centre stadium and there's plenty of parking in town. I haven't got the greatest memory but I can't seem to recall the huge car park for thousands of cars we had a HR.
As for 365 revenues, what we need is to be on a level playing field with other teams. It doesn't have to equal the Ricoh, it has to equal our competition.
Planning and local objections? Again not insurmountable problems.
Will it ever happen? I doubt it but why not, instead of instantly rubbishing it, get behind the idea and push SISU for details of both the stadium itself and the financial benefit. Basically call their bluff.
Or are people really saying they would rather sit in a yellow and black stadium with Wasps branding everywhere and half the seating closed off on the edge of town with limited pubs etc around than our own full stadium in the city centre?

I always thought there was no room at the Butts but when I went to collect ticket the other week was amazed, easily the size of Highfield Rd, the only thing would be car parking, but you have the memorial park and ride, town centre parking and maybe even Hearsall common as makeshift car parking

Why would it? I know the stadium that they were talking about was modular (I think that's what they called it) but that was for a green fields sight with plenty of spare space for forward planning and potential for expansion. The butts doesn't offer that luxury. It's tight and constricted. I wouldn't mind betting that any stadium built there would have to be bespoke as would any extension. Which would mean that not only would any expansion be costly it would also be time consuming and temporarily at least reduce capacity as happened during HR's redevelopment.

For me, at the Ricoh now, we are little more than nothing - a half-empty ground with a London rugby team's logos all over it. I'd settle for something less grand that felt like it belonged to us.

How about building it on Hearsay common now that is big enough you could also get car parks in across the road.
Another place maybe Mitchell road in Canley on the site of Earlsdon and Cov tech Rugby club's there are about 6 pitches and I know they are looking at building houses there.
Could all park in the uni.

Firstly and I'm sure I've mentioned this before to you that I'm only Toni at the weekends. Secondly we can't run the risk of SISU throwing the club out of the frying pan into an even hotter fire. If they're going to build a stadium what's been suggested it's going to send the club backwards not forwards even from where we are now. We can't gamble that they aren't going to build and sit back only to find out that they are building a stadium that's not fit for purpose.

Before we start building stands and moving in there are a lot of locals I'm sure are not going to be happy at the prospect of 12-15k footy fans clogging up the roads. Not to mention filling up city centre car parks so shoppers cant get into town and park. Remember Tesco used to have restrictions, Ikea are not going to welcome us with open arms either.
What about CRFC & Coventry Bears thought's of handing over the ground to us who in the few years have proved we can't run our previous grounds. Dont people think these clubs may also want a cut of the sudden found income?
