Values change and events over the last few years are impacting on those values. As are technological advances. I believe these are pulling in different directions and it will be interesting to see which triumphs in the end. If people feel unsafe and under threat reason and current values will go out of the window.
And as for those saying Isis isn't really Islam that is unbelievably naive. It may not be your understanding of Islam and it may not be your Moslem neighbours understanding of Islam but it is the belief of those carrying out these atrocities. They do this in the name of their God. They do it to promote and instil a particular view of what Islam is.

Yes that is true but the vast majority reject their view. Most of them are pissed off, as I would be if I was being labelled as a psychopath due to the actions of a tiny minority.

I couldn't resist getting dragged into your hand-wringing session, but here goes.

You will find that most countries in the world operate a policy of deporting people that become troublesome, and definitely do not offer citizenship. This would include the likes of Oman, Bahrain, Singapore, Malaysia, Saudi etc. These places routinely deport people that become surplus to requirements. I am merely suggesting we follow something along the same lines- we are under no obligation whatsoever to endure to type of bullshit currently being played out on the streets of Paris, and neither are we obliged to have to screen or vet an entire community to ensure that they are not planning to blow their hosts up.

Personally I would not include people that have opted out of Islam, and would still operate study/work/tourist visas- but no large, permanent community.

Anyway, do continue with your hand-wringing.

See you after the next mass atrocity.

Same here. Just went to my turkish barber. He and his mate, both muslims, stressed their disgust at the murder of innocent people. They are so embarassed. Besides ISDIS don't count the Shi-ite muslims as muslims. So I suppose if you ( one ) just hate muslims, you are also hating the ones that hate the haters... you are, of course, also a hater. That is the problem... deporting trouble makers is one thing, but deporting a "large permanent community" is impossible and leads to taking economical short cuts. E.g. put them in buses and cattle wagons and deport them out of the way. When it becomes too expensive to look after them, then..... well we all know what Hitler's henchmen did. Do you really thing we could or should deport/ remove people who become "surplus to requirements"? I think the idea is repulsive.

It depends on what the press tell them to think in all seriousness, the British people tend to be resolute in these situations and come together, much like the London Tube Bombings.

Those who like to paint all Muslims as terrorists and suggest genocide, like some posters on here, do not actually integrate with other cultures themselves.

Using their logic there would be no Irish people left in the world as they were all terrorists.

Reports linking it to the arrest in Germany a few days ago of a man close to Austrian border. He was smuggling and storing machine guns, grenades.

Sorry disagree, raising children to believe in a made up omnipresent being is wrong. They should be told this at the same time they are told Santa isn't real, sorry if that's spoiled Christmas for some of you. I understand it is a minority who use religion to spread there own particular brand of hate but all armies are told that God is on their side before going into battle. For me children should be protected from religion until they are old enough to make up their own mind what to believe, they are far too innocent to take in the complex issues involved and far too easy to fill with a sense that their God is the only God.
