Values change and events over the last few years are impacting on those values. As are technological advances. I believe these are pulling in different directions and it will be interesting to see which triumphs in the end. If people feel unsafe and under threat reason and current values will go out of the window.
And as for those saying Isis isn't really Islam that is unbelievably naive. It may not be your understanding of Islam and it may not be your Moslem neighbours understanding of Islam but it is the belief of those carrying out these atrocities. They do this in the name of their God. They do it to promote and instil a particular view of what Islam is.
