I'm from Southam and grew up there and remember that too. He lived up Welsh Road East, I think, didn't he?
Did he have a younger brother? One of Bees' riders lived in the next street to us in Rugby in late 70s/early 80s, whoever it was had a younger brother who I think was also a Bees rider!?

No. Not in England anyway. I'd have to think about who that might be. Quite a few Rugby kids turned out for the Bees.

Ah, you got me there. I don't know.

I'm sure it was him. Wikipedia (I know 😉) says he was at the Bees from 75-82 so it could have been before he moved to Southam.
Mitch came to England in '75 (and thinking about it that was prossibly when I had my encounters with him) so can't see that. He was allegedly only 15 at the time.

Don't know if you can really call it lucky. It was a horrific crash (with John Harrhy). It finished him, ultimately leading him to walk in front of a train. Very very sad end for a great character and rider.
Before my time that. I didn't really start going until 77.

I started a bit earlier, so I was weaned on the likes of Col Cotterill, Ron Mountford, Jim Lightfoot, Pete Bailey, Roy Carter, Les Owen, Roger Hill etc.
I was living in Southam when Shirra first came over (78? ish). He used to blast around town, underaged, on a Yam XT500 trailie (mostly on one wheel).
Helped me out one day when I broke down on my Triumph Tiger 100 outside the farm he was lodging at.
Good lad.
Pete Bailey's mum lived a few doors up from us, it was terrible when he died in a road accident. :(

The big question is - should he start or not on Friday?
No. Torp deserves his place in the team. If it isn't working Rudoni could come on for the last 30 minutes. A fresh pair of legs that will need a few games to get back to full fitness again. Best all round.

Not changing a winning team is such a cliche and recently would have meant we'd have only changed the team once in 12 games! Such rubbish.
That said, Rudoni coming back from injury generally means bench and i certainly wouldn't be in a rush to get Bidwell back in the team right now.

So same again then in all likelihood?

Dovin
MvE Thomas Kitching Dasilva
Allen Grimes
Saka Torp EMC
Wright

S: Collins, Lats, Bidwell, Binks, Sheaf, Rudoni, Paterson, BTA, Simms

Would be the strongest bench since relegation from the PL probably.

Unless we're talking literally, in which case the bench Yakubu used to sit on would be the strongest by far. Reinforced steel i'm told.
