We really ought to have too much for Portsmouth, but they will be heartened by the game at their place where they bullied us to defeat. I expect they will try a similar approach and for that reason I would leave Allen and Dasilva out in favour of Bidwell and Sheaf to give us a bit more muscle.

Therefore:
Wilson
Van Ewijk Thomas Kitching Bidwell
Sheaf Rudoni Grimes
Sakamoto Wright Mason-Clarke

Id love the Perfect night of 3 points, clean sheet, no injuries, back in the top 6 and closer to the 70 pts i think we need to get in..

Unfortunately i don't see us having a perfect night or end to the season. In my opinion losing Dovin will be the major factor in us falling short. But lets see, i hope i have this completely wrong and we get back to winning ways.

Agreed we might miss dovin but we’ve got a decent keeper in Wilson to come in, ok we had a better defence but bad keepers don’t win a golden glove, wouldn’t write Wilson off, he’ll be ok

Boro and BC have hard games tonight, but we could find ourselves 4 points adrift after their games. Need the win tomorrow to stay in touch or we might just let our heads drop and fall away.
We need to be at them from the start and keep Rudoni in a forward position. It was noticeable on Saturday he was drifting too far back for me.

Worst case tonight:

Boro 63
Bristol 63
———————
City 59
WBA 57
Millwall 57

Best case tonight:

Boro 60
WBA 60
———————
Bristol 60
City 59
Millwall 54

Think if Millwall don’t win tonight they’re gone. If WBA lose and we win tomorrow they won’t be far off gone either.

We win this one comfortably. Pompey are bottom half with nothing to play for; could play my nan in goal and we'd still win.

Should be a case of running up the goal difference 3 or 4 as there struggling in the CB region at the minute which suits our crossing game.

I'd bring Sheaf in for Allen as the only change.

Collins

MVE
Thomas
Kitching
Dasilva

Sheaf
Grimes
Rudoni

Sakamoto
Wright
EMC

If Wilson can be trusted to sweep and support playing the higher line, put him in. Don't think EMC was any noticeably worse than Sakamoto in the last two games tbh so I don't see the need to drop him.

Would personally go with this. I think Grimes does better when left as the sole DM as against Sunderland then when we add a partner in a 4-2-3-1 like Burnley.

Wilson has to come in for me. Also think Sheaf can help us win some balls higher up the pitch. EMC to start on the bench, if nothing else to give him a break following his return to the squad.

I would stick with Collins. We need to distribution from the back is going to play a big part in our game plan (yes I know Collins blah blah blah...)

Before I go blah blah blah on you 🤣. I think if we play Grimes as the sole DM as he has been, he naturally tucks in more meaning you don’t necessarily need the keepers distribution.

But even I can see Collins is clever with his distribution.

We've shipped in goals as a back 4 with alarming regularity all season, and it has not mattered who has been in goal.

That is the problem & if we lose tomorrow, that will probably be the reason. Not whoever is in goal.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want Collins in, and we know Wilson is not an upgrade... but lets not kid ourselves... if any of them turned into prime Neuer overnight, we are not going to have 9 clean sheets on the spin!

Atmosphere will be lacking without the drum and the game has been made much tougher without Lampard being on the touch line. What a ridiculous and immature sending off it was. Hope it doesn’t cost us the play offs come the end of the season.

They shouldn't need a team talk tonight as they were totally embarrassing against them! Their guts should be burning for revenge and looking to reduce our goals against column.

Portsmouth's away record is horrendous. 9 defeats in the last 10 away matches.

Take our nerves away from the conversation, this fixture is the best opportunity we could've hoped for after the last 3 games. It has to be be 3 points, no excuses.
