    Leonard Brody

Let's pretend that you were offered the opportunity to ask someone on the board a question, at any time of day, from wherever you happened to be, and knew that if you did so you actually stood a good chance that your question would not only be read but might also even be responded to, maybe even...

Just how culpable are Coventry Council in all this?

I can't disagree with any particular point there. However, the site was wasteland before the stadium was built, and the council was paid a large chunk of money for it before a brick was laid. I also find it hard to believe that the council would have stepped in simply out of the goodness of...

Just how culpable are Coventry Council in all this?

So now the council are denying that they've got any meetings with SISU lined up — worrying in itself, but there's an interesting tidbit in there, with Cllr John Mutton saying the following: Wait a second — having a sustainable and robust business strategy is a prerequisite to having a...

    Ten Years of Misery

You could say the same of anyone who chooses to spend their saturday afternoons at The Ricoh, frankly.

Question - This season or next season ?

No — if the deadline (today, incidentally) has passed then you're deducted 10 points this season and next season. If you do it before that date, it's only this season. If you wait until the season is over then obviously you're only deducted points for the following season.

Ah, it was the League Cup. Oops.

    Ten Years of Misery

Well, there have been sparkles of brightness in amongst them — knocking Manure out of the FA Cup, beating Blackburn 4-1 and getting to face off against Chelsea (a match in which we really didn't play too badly, considering the opposition). Just all too few...

    Ten Years of Misery

I sent the charts to Leonard Brody via Twitter and he said he'll show it to the board. Not sure what (if any) good it'll do, but at least it'll give them a clear picture of just how rubbish we've been!

Forum for City fans that live away from Cov

London here. I've not lived in Coventry since 1997, but up until 3 or 4 years ago I still attended four or five matches a season. Nowadays it's more like one or none. Quite a change from when I was a kid and was a season ticket holder (between 1990 and 1996).

ACL + the stadium + council

I requested all the accounts for ACL yesterday from Companies House out of curiosity for how their finances shape up (I'll have to write a post on that later once I've properly digested them), and this is what it says in the introduction to the 2004 accounts: In the 2003 version the Alan Higgs...

We are a club not a brand

This thread has so much misplaced anger. Your club is or has a brand whether you like it or not. The choice the management has is how to best use and improve that brand so that it profits the club best. Currently our brand is rubbish — how many kids do you see in Coventry wearing...

    Ten Years of Misery

Sorry — I got confused there — I'd meant to say Safri (Hadji had already gone before the season started, you're right). Safri was a hard-working, tough-tackling dude, and I still remember that awesome free kick he scored against Sheff Weds (possibly the season before we went down?).

    Ten Years of Misery

If I were to draw any analysis from what I've charted, it'd be this: In our first couple of seasons after relegation our squad was still strong relative to the rest of the league — particularly in 01-02 when we had the likes of Chippo, Hadji, Thompson, Carsley (the first time around!) and...

    Ten Years of Misery

I'm thinking of making an interactive one so you can compare any arbitrary number of seasons. I'll probably work on that tomorrow, as I'm shattered now.

    Ten Years of Misery

By the way, the point tally bars would hit the top of each graph if we scored maximum points (138 over the course of a season), so you can imagine a promotion-winning team would have the bars not far from the top by the end of the season.

    Ten Years of Misery

There are only two anomalous seasons out of the whole bunch — ‘03–‘04, which let's face it really only picked up once McAllister left, and ‘05–‘06 — when Mickey Adams had Dennis Wise in the team. Hard to imagine that those were good times.

    Ten Years of Misery

I was thinking tonight about how since we've been relegated our seasons have tended to follow a similar pattern — starting well, fading around new year, before relegation form takes root and we barely survive. Thinking about it I decided to draw up some charts to show our league position over...
