Who is good enough next season?

Can we not all lose the plot because of two poor performances and subsequent results. Without two massive players (Sakamoto, Sheaf) and our main creative force already playing in LaLiga (in his head). The team below is more than strong enough to challenge next year. GK (albeit Collins is fine)...

Not sure it’s on MR. He has his faults and he’s tinkered a lot and made the occasional odd decision, but not sure he can be blamed for players making poor decisions, losing any sense of belief and having the resilience of tissue paper.

We bottled it against two playoff rivals and in doing so have given ourselves what is likely too big a challenge. Too many anonymous performances recently from our better players. Key amongst our summer recruits is a leader.

Yea Simms touch let’s him down occasionally, but if he’s being picked out as a scapegoat this place has lost it again. He’s won numerous flick ons, generally held it up well and his movement has been good. All while being supported by a 10 who can’t be arsed and two wing backs who are scared to...

COH and MVE have been poor for a while. It’s just easier to have a pop at JDS, Eccles, Simms et al. Torp is absolutely not on it today either.

Arguing over who to blame for both goals, with valid points for numerous contenders, tells you exactly how poor we’ve been defensively. Horrendous stuff.

Hate to say it, but that’s likely game over. No leadership or drive out there. Our main creative force outside of the front three looks off it, as do the wing backs.

For all the frustration and negativity so far, WBA do look beatable and we’ve made chances without really being on it yet.

I know we are (rightly) worried by JDS’ defensive frailties, but we really shouldn’t overlook MVE in that area either.

That’s horrific defending. Wasn’t down our targeted left either.

Two Castles registration opened today. I haven’t done it before, so I’m planning to enter.

We knew it was going to be 5 ATB, we know who is/isn’t available, other than whatever is going on with Collins, it’s probably our strongest available team. Weirdly excited for tonight.

If we start with the box it has to be Palmer/COH behind Simms. If it’s one at 10, it has to be COH behind Wright/Simms. Whichever option we go with, it’s a strong attacking unit. Pressure is on CM’s and WB to supply them with decent ball. I’m confident Torp will do so.

Fair enough, in response I’d say: 1) I’m not suggesting that combo is better, and in fairness my post doesn’t imply that. My point is/was while last year we all wanted to see those four together, subbing in Torp for Hamer might not be the same level, but he adds creativity in there. Once Sheaf...

    QF Draw

Disappointing. Not at home and neither a particularly ideal away trip. And because it’s not Liverpool or Man City, it’ll feel more “winnable” even though in reality either team is still a tough draw. On the flip side, Brighton away a few seasons ago in the FA Cup was a great day out! Stayed...

Not too opposed to the shift in formation. We’re in a different place player wise now; both in terms of individuals and confidence levels. Last year we were all excited to see Palmer/COH in the box formation, and while it won’t be Sheaf/Hamer behind them, we know how good Torp is and they will...

Match Thread Coventry City - Maidstone United [FA] Match Thread - Monday 26th Feb

Few observations; Kelly was brilliant tonight. Appreciate it’s low league opposition but his recycling of the ball was great and as ever his defensive positioning and awareness were on point. He’s not going to make a killer pass or move forward with the ball, but being a constant option and...
