Simms has always been good and showed promise. We just suffer from fans who want immediate impact and have dinosaur viewpoints like; striker not score = bad.

Appreciate the level of opposition, but Kelly has looked very very assured in there. It’s giving Torp freedom to play more freely too.

+1 for this view too. But even so not sure how I’d feel if he was to start - he’s been so out of it.

Get the point FP. And I obviously trust the management team/backroom staff whose job this is. But even MR said post game on Friday he wasn’t fit enough to start/play the whole game (or something along those lines).

Really don’t want Torp anywhere near the team if there is even the slightest chance he’s not 100% fit. Losing him on top of Sakamoto would further limit our attacking ability.

We will win comfortably tonight and probably put on a stellar performance. It will be great to get to the QF and well done to the players for doing so, however it’s still tinged with the disappointment of Friday. Turn up and play against non-league opposition but can’t do it against play off...

    Running

London Marathon is scarily close and while I’ve been running good mileage overall each week, my longest run so far is 9.5 miles. Until today…. Ran the Leicestershire Half this morning and really enjoyed it, time of 1:37 too which I was happy with. Also changed up the training a bit as of last...

Everything about last night was wrong. It was a truly bad bad bad bad bad day at the office. Genuinely zero positives to take from it. Simms comes out with some credit first half. Second half everyone hid and/or was just not good enough. You need big players to step up and be leaders in games...

    5 at the back now

Season isn’t over after one loss and another injury. For now we have cover to keep the formation as is, albeit I also think MR will go to 5 ATB. Doesn’t solve the issue - whether it’s 4 or 5 ATB, it’s still 2 in CM and those roles are pivotal. Last night showed we can’t play with those 2 at CM...

We look so flat. Zero leadership out there. We had to change something but formation change has added nothing at this point.

Few people around me have left. Bet they’ll be there next time we get to Wembley though.

Simms comes out of that first half with some credit. Binks been ok. Everyone else is poor or hiding.

In every way possible this has been a horrendous 30 minutes. Can only get better, right?!

Sometimes Wrights decision making is so poor and/slow.

No Torp or Sheaf does mean we’re missing a ball player in the middle, however it doesn’t mean a complete lack of creativity. Eccles can pick a pass he just isn’t as good at that side as the other two (IMO), but he certainly has other strengths. Either way I’d expect to see him play more...

Match Thread Coventry City - Preston North End FC Match Thread - Friday 23rd Feb

If this is the only plan in place for tonight it’s going to be carnage again. For all the positives and massive steps forward we’ve taken the last few years, this aspect is still so amateur. And before people moan, it isn’t as straightforward for people to just get there early. Especially on...

Match Thread Coventry City - Preston North End FC Match Thread - Friday 23rd Feb

Don’t disagree. I should have been clearer re the sweeper keeper bit - while he’s better than Wilson distribution wise, overall he’s nowhere near what I was expecting when he was billed as being good with his feet etc. For example, he does that silly fake pass one too many times everytime so...

Match Thread Coventry City - Preston North End FC Match Thread - Friday 23rd Feb

Yea I was 50/50. I know it’s pretty much accepted Collins is a step up from Wilson, and he probably is, but he honestly doesn’t convince me. His distribution frustrates me too, as I’m sure he was billed as a sweeper keeper type. I chose Wilson as he kept a clean sheet. I wouldn’t mind either...

Big, big game with direct play off implications, so strongest team needed. DaSilva v Bidwell is the big decision point for me, especially as they are likely to be up against a good attacking threat in Miller. I prefer when we play on the front foot and we look better when we play football...
