I'd prefer to see Nazon up front tonight, alongside McNulty. As with the Blackburn game, it'd be good to see Ponti come off the bench but a fit Kwame is ahead of him in the queue, as are Beavon and Biamou.

We"d be weak and vulnerable if we had two pick one of those as a CM. I do think a lot of our struggles in recent years has been due to not having sufficient cover for key positions...can't throw kids in, look how the likes of C Thomas, Finch and Maycock have struggled when the manager threw them...

But if you use players from elsewhere in the squad, you're not picking specialists in the role. You're also removing cover from other positions.

I just think we need a senior squad if 22 not including the likes of Ponticelli, Maycock, Devon, Camwell, Shipley etc. 2 seniors to cover each position, so we are short of a CM since we pick 2 and only have one as cover.

I don't think this means we're overloaded. We can obviously switch to any of 442, 4411, 433 and 451 - most of those players are sufficiently versatile to play more than one role. When you think that we need to have 2 players for every position, that means that we need, based on your classic 442...
